Guest peter a Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Lucky you! Last week I opened my PoV Mobii 10 too, but no sim reader inside :( That's the downside of being ahead of the pack I guess :D So has a standard advent vega got the pcie slot. Mine is only a week old, so should be the latest version of the design, with a breakout hole for the sim. Not too bothered about fitting a internal 3g device, but would be nice if I could for £50 or less. Not got the bottle yet to kill my warranty by opening up the cover.
Guest dbaseii Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Hi guys. There are actually 2 types of Pov Mobii The type I bought at a store called Media markt in Spain, it has a rounded back. Then a few weeks later I spotted another Pov Mobii in the same store. This had a flat back and a home button like the ipad. I fired it up in the store and there was mention of a 3g configuration under wireless and networks. So I guess this one has the hardware suitable inside

Last week a colleague of mine bought the exact same device as I did in december last year: The Point Of View Mobii TEGRA2 Tablet 10' (etc.) His device has a different sim-input cover as mine, as it has a small curve to be able to open it and has a small sim icon printed on it... So probably he has the module built in...

Guest rvdgeer Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I too got that small curve in the sim cover. But I can't open it, the cover locks somewhere in the case. Ok, my guess is, that if you have a PoV Mobii with a barcode sticker with TEGRA (or similar) on it and the 'curved' sim cover with a sim icon on it, you probably have the sim reader inside... If it has a P10AN01 (or similar) sticker on it and a 'non-curved' sim cover without the sim icon on it, it probably hasn't got the sim reader inside... But remember, it's just a theory...

You could be right, my serial starts with TEGRA.
Guest vebse Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) You could be right, my serial starts with TEGRA. I can confirm that too. Curved sim-cover and barcode Sticker with TEGRA followed by the serial number. Bought at Media Markt Germany. Edited March 23, 2011 by vebse

Guest boh Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I bought an Ericsson F3307 F3307G 3G HSDPA WWAN Wireless WLAN Card, i installed it and i confirm that it works (pov mobii tegra).

Does this card have a GPS? Can you check if it works? Because I have a problem on my Viewpad 10s with 3G card, but I can't get the GPS working. If I use e.g. GPS status, I get the GPS searching icon in the notification bar, but no fix. I waited 10 minutes, my HTC Desire got a fix after 10 seconds, my Viewpad didn't get a fix at all.

To do this go to settings-> protection and position-> make gps on and you active use wireless connections bla bla... check if it works. tell me what rom use. sorry for my bad english but i translate menu voices from italian to english.

Guest beegee1962 Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 your modded rom? is your internal 3G dongle Ericsson F3307 F3307G? Running a V1.10 ROM from the UX100 (Korean clone) with some personal mods (small taskbar, hosts file, VTL launcher, complete APN settings, MMS for SMS, NI keyboard, CWM, ....) at the moment. That's what I called the modded ROM. Did not open the tablet yet, so I don't know if it is the Ericsson card or another one. Just know 3G internet, SMS works perfect, only phone calls and the GPS don't work. Phone calls is a known problem, doesn't work on other similar tablets with internal or external 3G as well.

My tablet is the Viewsonic ViewPad 10s. I guess I have to open the tablet to find out which 3G card they use. That I cannot make phone calls is no problem, would just nice to have the GPS. Thanks for the link of the UX100, I see there the no GPS in spec. On the Viewsonic pages they write Wi-Fi + 3G model Wi-Fi GPS/Assisted GPS

The 10.1" screen will be perfect for navigation.
