Guest Raynes Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Would this work on a non overclocked phone? thanks I want to know this too!
Guest 90180360 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) Would this work on a non overclocked phone? Sure, it would probably run a bit slower though. Edited March 1, 2011 by 90180360
Guest IronDoc Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) It runs just as good on 2.2 ROMs. I actually prefer JJ9 due to AHB overclocking. Someone said CM also overclocks the AHB; can't remember who. Wipeout isn't the same without Firestarter as soundtrack. Edited March 1, 2011 by IronDoc
Guest squidlr Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Tested Ridge Racer on ZTE Blade on CM7 Nightly 8. Quite fast with frameskip with Blade clocked to 710Mhz, although in game music was distorted. Nice emulator! Looking forward to getting an iControlpad to enjoy emulation with real gaming controls!
Guest 90180360 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 iControlpad I'm using the Datel Wireless Retro Controller, works great. Obvious downside is that it's separate from the phone. £19.99 on Amazon.
Guest Blues003 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Tested Final Fantasy Tactics with Overclock up to 710 MHz on FLB r10 2.2 ROM. It works very nicely for such a budget phone. The sound is sometimes out of sync, and the speed may vary a bit. However, I did NOT use any kind of workaround, like Frameskip or Sound Off. I also believe that the CM7 ROM might be able to improve the performance (as it did with Angry Birds on later levels; drastically, might I add). Once some important bugs are permanently fixed (random reboot, screen freezes, proximity sensor, some apps needing to be moved to the phone), I will flash the ROM and try the emulator. So far, I'm very satisfied.

Also I'd recommend frameskip up to 50fps and disabled framelimiter, speed should be much more constant. Spu Sync may help with audio sync and shouldn't slow down much. Also having no overlay pad (by setting screen size so small or holding the phone vertical or disabling them) helps a lot.

Guest 90180360 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Hmm i all ways get FC when using boost mode what bios are you using? You have to enable boost mode when the ROM is already loaded. (Also be aware that after each restart, boost mode is disabled again...)

The speed certainly got a bit more stable (not 100%), but the Sound keeps changing speed. I doubt I'd use this - as it is - on a regular basis, partly because the kind of games I play (tactical ones) are also slow by themselves. It is, however, a VERY promising app. With CM7 and more updates, I'm expecting a fluid and fully-working emulator.
Guest rbbrslmn Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Sound effects are there, but unfortunately not the music. Not sure if my ROM or the emulator is to blame. The real experience  the reason the music will be missing is that its CD audio (you could take out the wipeout disc and put your own CD and it would play that instead). someone would have to hack in an mp3 player to replicate that.
Guest somafero Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) it's not working for me :) when i try to turn on boost mode fpse force closing  ,i try with another version, this one's not fc but the touchscreen doesnt work when boost mode is on. Edited March 2, 2011 by somafero

Boost mode is experimental, it won't work with all games. But try enabling it when there is already a game loaded and fpse shouldn't force close.

Guest Frankish Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Someone show me FF8 running then i'll be impressed.

Things would work much better if you did.
Guest 90180360 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 It's almost there... Works great if you turn off the audio. As you can see, in-game music is supported, but I think you need the ROM as .bin and .cue. Maybe I should get an Xperia Play with all these great emulators popping up on Android
Guest Frankish Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 The bios is illegal to post isn't it? I've misplaced the one i had must go seek new one...
Guest atatreedy Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I must comment on this thread, i've been playing with FPSE for a week now and its brilliant! Einhander and Kula world run great, Tomb raider 3 runs very playable too, and the regular updates keep on improving! all this on my non-overclocked sanfran..! The bios is illegal to post isn't it? I've misplaced the one i had must go seek new one... just google SCPH1001.BIN and voila!
Guest somafero Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 You don't have a bios loaded? Things would work much better if you did. yeah i know,i have a bios of course.0.10.11 version FC when i turned on boost mode,0.10.10 version ok,but when i turned on boost mode,i can't use the touchscreen.WTF? i'll try with another ROM,maybe that's the problem
Guest Frankish Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Ff8 runs pretty well other than a few graphical errors.
Guest tabor56 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I tried MGS, it loads but then once you start the game I get a black screen
Guest somafero Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 finally it's workin fine ,the problem was the rom,i tried only the emu with mortal kombat 2,boost mode on but no touchscreen :),but now i tried with wipeout and that's running good.thanks everyone
