Guest shadow wave Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I just rooted my GT540 to do a full backup before using the official updater to change from Carphone Wareohouse v20b to v20c. The rooting worked fine and I did the backup and then updated the phone. Now I am trying to root it again but USB debugging mode doesn't seem to work. The rooting script keeps saying device not found. How can I get the laptop to detect the phone in debugging mode? Thanks
Guest Dr.Alani Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Use Z4Root app to root the phone without connecting it to the USB. Just enable the USB debugging and run the app. It has two choices "Permanent" and "Temporary". Choose the "Permanent". If you are using 2.1, this application works perfectly.
Guest shadow wave Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Can I unroot again using Z4root, as I want to keep my phone unrooted incase I need to send it for repair. It fails to receive calls a lot of the time.

Regarding the failure in receiving calls, I recommend you flash another ROM if you are sure that it is not a network problem. This might be useful.
Guest shadow wave Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Would I still be able to get it repaired under the warranty if I flash a different 2.1 rom?
Guest Dr.Alani Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Would I still be able to get it repaired under the warranty if I flash a different 2.1 rom? I presume that you will not need to take it for repair unless it is totally dead, and then they would not know what ROM you had lool. Anyway, I think that this does not break your warranty but I have heard that rooting does break it. By the end of the day, it comes down to your attitude when you deal with the LG repair guys. If you are tough enough, they would do whatever you want.
