FLB-Froyo G2 for ZTE Blade discussion & help thread

I have an Orange San Francisco OLED, which I bought secondhand, although it's only been used very lightly. It's currently running FLB-Froyo-r9 and both the phone signal and Wi-Fi signals are weak, certainly compared to my Nokia N97 & E90. Battery life is not exactly impressive, either, if I'm using Wi-Fi and/or GPS. The system claims the battery is in good condition, incidentally.

I'm not sure if r10 will help in any way but I intend updating to see. I've downloaded the ROM plus Clockwork, to backup but, as a newbie, I need a step-by-step 'how to' backup and flash. Can someone point me in the right direction for this?

I tried to install this rom on my phone, I think I did it well, but the first boot is very long, and it's not finished for the moment. So, I would like to know how long it takes normaly.

Usually it takes five to six minutes for the first boot. Take out the battery, boot back into recovery and wipe caches and do a factory reset. Then try again booting the phone.

If the first boot succeeds, then boot again directly a second time. Then the phone is way less laggy.

random problems with the rom

reboot during navigation

Another question about USB tethering.

How can I do usb tethering? I have the wifi tethering working. But I would like to be able to usb teether also. On my HTC Desire, I can choose what to do with my phone by accessing the usb status icon. There i can choose between usb tethering and mount as a disc, but on the SF I only have the possibility to choose mount from the usb icon.

Plug your USB cable into phone and pc..

Go to Settings, Wireless & Network Settings, Tethering & portable hotspot.. check the USB Tethering box.

Done!

Except mine's stopped working :D

I may just wipe and move to r10b to see if it comes back again, since i'm not convinced CM7 battery life is up to FLB's levels yet.

Hi upgraded to R10b from the R8 slim version, however i still have no vibration when recieving texts, only when recieving calls, I have vibration set to always. Please advise

I resetted the battery stats following procedure by bht.

I reach maximum 15 hours before recharge :( with very light usage:

-3g & wifi -turned off, turn on wifi for max 20 min a day.

-check gmail 3 times

-10 minutes surfing internet.

- screen on max 1 h a day.

Tried also loading juice defender. No difference.

Battery stats says 98% of battery is used by Android.

I think there's an app that's keeping alive the system :( .

Is there a way to discover which one is?

I did a recharge of my phone upto 100% and then turned off the phone

Then i started the phone in clockwork and wiped the battery stats

Then again rebooted the phone and battery showed 92% :D

Is this expected ???

Download Android Assistant from the market. It has a 'Battery Use' function in the tools sections which show battery use by apps.

I suggest you check your Google Maps app and log out of latitude, and disable all extra layers on the map. I know this was causing trouble for me.

Regarding the signal loss issue:

Press the power button to put the phone to sleep, then press power again, and the network bars will appear again.

Wow. This actually works, and gets the bars back pretty fast.

Judging from this, it's hopefully just a display issue. Can anyone confirm this?

I noticed the signal loss happens when my wifi turns on after coming back from sleep.

I wonder if this can be fixed in this ROM. Otherwise this ROM works very well for me.

A reboot can take quite a chunk.....normally about 5%

I upgraded to your ROM from JJ rls9 version and I was blown away...

everything worked or so I thought, then I installed GPS apps and stuff and I sm sorry to inform you that the GPS doesn't work at all !!

I have kept it under open clear sky for over 2 hours and used maps and gps stats etc softwares.. but the gps is not working :D

Please help me !!

How strange, regarding the GPS, as mine seems to work perfectly fine and finds the satellites in a matter of seconds when outside. I have used it for Google maps and also navigation software.

I don't know what happened, but I remember that there was a problem in Titanium backup pro and so I booted into recovery and selected "fix permissions"

that lasted for about 35 minutes and did not finish, neither any button worked nor anything else.. so I took out th ebattery and then restarted...

Did I do something wrong ?

With light use of phone and texts only I have gone 5 days using this ROM without a recharge. No Internet, GPS or Wi-Fi etc was used during that time.

Thanks. I will have to take alooks at what's eating the battery then. At the moment it mainly shows Android system 98%.

The difference is that with this rom I have gmail and facebook apps, but i don't allow them to sync so really they shouldn't be active.

The reports on battery life are varied, some have great performance and some have very poor, I fall in the latter. I had to go back to the stock orange rom where I am getting 3/4 days out of a charge, where I was lucky to get a day out of 10b.
