Hello!

I am a fresh new Blade user, and I am very impressed over android and over this FLB rom. It is really fast, and works like a charm., with gingerbread theme.

But I do have few questions (sorry if I wasn't able to find it in the thread/google):

1. How do I put WiFI/GPS/BT on/off buttons to the notification pull down, because now I only have operator name.

2. I cannot choose ringtone for selected contact; I can tap, but no browser gets opened to choose the sound.

3. Alarm when the phone is off? I found it impossible, I guess that has not been changed

4. How to delete FB/Twitter and some other integrated apps?

5. How to simply close the app when you don't need it anymore? (process stays opened)

Sorry for possible dumb question, as I am new to android..

Thanks!

One more thing;

how to edit birthday in contact? I have imported vCards and now there is Birthday: 19801606, and it cannot be editable.

I've noticed now that my phone now sleeps. Odd when it didn't yesterday and i've made no major changes.

Charged up last night and is now on 93% and that's with data turned on and 3G.

Hopefully my problems are sorted.

Since you applied the Gingerbread theme those icons from notification bar are gone. Alternatively you can download an application named Widgetsoid and get those shortcuts on home screen

2. I cannot choose ringtone for selected contact; I can tap, but no browser gets opened to choose the sound.

3. Alarm when the phone is off? I found it impossible, I guess that has not been changed

Unfortunately this is not possible AFAIK :(

4. How to delete FB/Twitter and some other integrated apps?

Using an application like root explorer navigate to /system/app and delete the APK file corresponding to twitter and facebook. You can delete other integrated apps from here too but dont delete something you dont know.

5. How to simply close the app when you don't need it anymore? (process stays opened)

Even after closing the app you feel it is still running, go to Task manager (should be an icon in app drawer) and just kill the task corresponding to those apps.

Sorry for possible dumb question, as I am new to android..

Thanks!

I did it this way after I installed the "wrong" gingerbread theme....

1) flash one of the really nice themes (including gingerbreads variants) from Frankish here

2) and right after that flash one of his power-widget colour mod

Can anyone tell me how to disable the flash on-screen messages i receive from my operator. I am sure there should be some option for that. Those flash messages have some stupid offers or cricket scores, something i am not interested in.

ZTE SmartDialer

This will allow people to go back to the SmartDialer which originally came on the phone. This will provide T9 dialing and the facility to input the ZTE service codes for proximity sensor calibration etc. Using the SmartDialer will prevent Facebook & Twitter contact sync from working.

SmartDialer addon (will replace Froyo dialer & contacts with ZTE versions) MD5 4DA998BC4BD2CE51220B8B77F4F97BCF

Froyo dialer addon (to roll back to the stock Froyo dialer & contacts without re-installing rom) MD5 E81281A2339D2A3B487A4BA8436760EC

You probably will need to clear the data for Contacts, ContactsProvider and Phone after installing any of the dialer packs. Do this through Settings > Applications.

Hi,

I've never been able to do this with any android version.

Best bet is to login to the same gmail account and edit your contact from there.

Cheers, Nick

Great ROM, my suggestion is to not use overclocking, though!

Just by testing what frequencies are possible, I managed to completely crush the filesystem (the DCIM folder became a DCIM file e.g) & hardcore shutdowns, bluescreens for USB connected Vista PC etc.

Don't do it, it's not worth the mess unless you absolutely do not need your phone...

You can say that about overclocking anything but millions of people still do it. I'd say it's absolutely worth it - I get about a 25% benchmark increase for free. It should be safe if you start low and test at every speed. I think one problem is SetCPU's own tests say it's stable at way higher speeds than it actually is. So test using the phone and apps in general at each speed - don't rely on SetCPU.

I have to say, and this isn't aimed at you DrDo but at past posters, I'm somewhat of the opinion though that anyone that thinks they can post on a forum asking what speed they should overclock at really needs to learn a bit more about overclocking before trying to do it imo! :D

This can be done, try this:-

open contacts

tap the contact you require

press 'menu'

tap 'options'

You should see 'Ringtone' as the first option. Tap and choose the one you want.

Worked for me.

That's OK, but it's a widget, right? I have Power Widget Free installed, it's the same. I want to have those buttons inside status bar:)

@rak007:

Thanks for all the answers; still, how come I cannot set ringtone for a specific contact? And I figured it also doesn't work with alarm.

@RedGT:

That is what I was doing, but no luck. Any other method instead?

No, if you flash frankish theme(s) you get the status bar notification back. And the power widget thing is only to colour this bar in the way you like it :D

(the default energy widget will also be in that colour you choose but hey... you don't need the widget if you have it in the status bar, do you?)

Oh, great! I didn't know that. How to install a theme? Is it possible to have multiple themes and select one, or is it "hardcoded"?

Btw, how do I create speed dial?:D

...read my mentioned theme thread :D

(only one theme possible... you have to fllash the theme in clockwork like a rom!)

My Blade is very stable at 710mhz, and will run 729 with only the occasional crash, just remember that the only guaranteed speed is 600mhz !

This ROM really is great stuff! I'm determined to have my phone run on this.

Liking this ROM a lot, but I believe I may have found an issue.

I just installed this ROM for the first time (r10b) after wiping Sebastian's de-orangeated ROM (eclair). I've noticed that the side speaker doesn't always get turned off completely after playing a sound (e.g. notification beep, or the clicks within the Twitter app when you refresh) and you can hear it continuing to hiss very faintly. You can get it to turn off by making a call and hanging up, then it's completely silent until the next time it plays a sound, and then the faint hiss comes back. I'm not getting as good a battery life since installing this ROM, despite trying to recalibrate the battery by letting it run down and charging it fully, and I wonder if it's because the speaker remains powered.

Is it just me?

You might not be the only one. I've also gone back to de-orangeated due to crazy battery consumption with r10b. With de-orangeated I'll go to bed with battery at 76% and wake up with it at 76%. R10b will barely run my phone for a day.... Idle!

With the FLB ROM, whenever I plug my earphones into my Blade I hear the amplifier hiss all the time - it's always there. With de-orangeated I only hear the amplifier when either the radio or music player is activated; I clearly hear it turn off when those apps are paused/deactivated. This makes me wonder if my battery is being drained by the included radio or, perhaps, music player.

That aside, the responsiveness, reliability and design of the ROM is amazing for the ZTE. In the meantime I want to try and single out my offending app.

(Installed via Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.6)

battery usage in all froyo roms are pretty high, you're right about the original eclairs...the battery would only go down maybe 5 or 10% after 2 or 3 days standby and would go a whole week on a single charge...

I wonder what the official swedish froyo Kalkaffe has posted is like...

I have been using the FLB rom for a few days, and I am having real problems with my Blade, I have installed next to nothing on the phone, but the battery is draining away really fast, the phone shows battery use as Android at 99% with no other Apps having run and the phone has gone from 100% to 71% in 1 hour, I reported the battery problem to Orange and they sent me a new phone, I am having the same issues with this one, and also the phone is getting REALLY hot, Orange are now swapping it for a second time, but anyone any thoughts? or is it just a one off problem with me :D

Seems i too am facing the wifi issue. I had kept wifi ON on my blade and wifi sleep to never while my offline maps were getting downloaded through Locus. But after the screen turned off the wifi too dropped and after screen came on it took some time for the wifi to reconnect and in the mean time my download was interrupted :D

So i too can confirm that wifi seems to be not completely functional in this release.

Perhaps. However, as far as Froyo goes, I reinstalled r10b without the radio. Battery usage seems to be a whole lot better. I left the phone virtually idle for an hour and a half. The battery reader remained static.

The hiss I used to pick up from my earphone has also gone.

"Cell Standby" and "Phone Idle" now show up in "Battery Use".

Everything in "Partial Wake Usage" (Spare Parts) is low for my mostly-idle phone.

It seems a few others have recently encountered the same situation.

Now I just need to get a radio. I use this feature a lot in mobile phones.

^^In that case just deleting the radio's APK file wont solve the problem ?? Or is it mandatory to reinstall the ROM without the radio ??

Btw the radio reason seems bit absurd and not sure if it is the real cause.

Plenty of people before have said it's the radio. Personally I delete the radio using Titanium (as well as many other things I don't need) from each rom and mine will standby for several days.
