"Damaged SD Card" message

Hey, I am running steves 1.6.1, and twice I have gotten a message that says "damaged SD card".

I was forced to format, then it works again, but of course my data was gone.

checked through a reader on my pc and it prompted me to reformat.

Having some apps installed partially on the sd card makes things worse.

I have searched the forum, and I dont see anyone talking about this.

it has only ever occured on my new patriot class 10 16gb sd.

Does this sound like a bug messed up my card, the phone, or just a faulty card?

Thank you for any insight as to what the problem might be.

Interesting. I had the same problem on Sunday evening running 1.8.1 . SD card was the one brought with streak.

I was able to save all data from SD card to computer via a card reader.

After formatting my SD card, the only way to restore data on SD card was : put SD card in the streak and copy data via USB cable...

Same questions raised with this matter.

I know it sounds obvious - but how sure are you about the sdcard? is it relatively new or have you only started to make use of all of the space. Every time I have encountered this is has turned out that the sd card has been poor quality/fake.

If possible take the card out, put it into a pc and test with something like h2testw. Make sure you test the FULL size of the card. Many fake cards are actually just smaller card with the size misreported - as soon as you write beyond the actual size they corrupt. I noticed this with a cheap card I bought when it always curropted after a set amount of data was written.

Hoping it turns out to be something fixable ;-)

I really only have like 3 or 4gb on it, and I bought it from a reputable source, newegg.

I had the same problem.

I take SDcard out and put it into another phone, then connect the phone to PC as Mass Storage.

After using Error-checking on my PC, SDcard was revived

Good luck
