Guest leetron1 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi all..whats the current status of usb tethering please...phone is my only net access at the mo so pretty essential for me?
Guest Zythus Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Well, sorry that I wasn't reading last page, but... I really wanted to know what happened. And seems they accidentally turned it off.. what a shame - just today I needed it and you could imagine what was my zonk, when I was putting it on, and it didnt...
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 S'up guys, Brilliant work has been going on here, and sorry I haven't really been actively maintaining this thread, I've had a lot of college work on my plate, and have really struggled to get round to this. But, I've finished and am feeling good, so lets kick this back into gear! So firstly, so I can add to the first post: What's better by default? What's better with a supplied fix? And what's still not working? Anyone who can concisely get these points nailed down and in points or something for the first post will be loved forever. Thank you :D
Guest mELIANTE Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 N19- Better battery, broke BlueTooth Posted kernel fixes BT GPS not working.
Guest fonix232 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 GPS not working. It won't show the icon, but, if you try it, it does work. Located me (cold start, no wireless location enabled) in about 10sec, no icon shown, no GPS use before.
Guest That-Guy Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) This is what I have: - GPS not 100% reliable - Proximity Fixed - Battery Drain Fixed - Apps2SD Working - WiFi re-connects after screen off Sorry still not fixed :D - Broken Bluetooth Edited March 14, 2011 by That-Guy
Guest LordKickapoo Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) -new patch fixed proximity -battery time seems to be quite nice and similar to other roms -incoming voice in phone calls too loud even in minimum setting -at least for me gps icon is showing, actually after disabling gps and enabling it icon doesnt show up anymore Edited March 14, 2011 by LordKickapoo

Guest spvnexus Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Proximity isn't working very well for me (n19) and its hard work to get the screen to wake after a call. I wiped everything and fresh install, are there any specific settings I need to use?
Guest alex1alex2alex3alex4 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Proximity isn't working very well for me (n19) and its hard work to get the screen to wake after a call. I wiped everything and fresh install, are there any specific settings I need to use? Haven't tried it myself, but a common and more or less agreed/confirmed solution appears to be what Frankish suggested on p27: "It works for me with Always use proximity ticked and In Call UI TICKED"
Guest fonix232 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Not here it didn't. Well for me it did. I always switch of BT ASAP after booting (totally clean install) and then I switched it on just to test it. First try, Google Maps with GPS switched off - result, can not locate myself. GPS switched on, restart Maps, fix was almost instant. 20m precision fix in 10 seconds!
Guest spvnexus Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Many thanks bud, working fine now :D
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hopefully the first post is a bit more respectful now :D
Guest Frankish Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hopefully the first post is a bit more respectful now :D You missed a link to css kernel from toms sources that fixes BT or my post with the same kernel in an update .zip :( Not that it will matter by morning.

Guest marcodassi Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) Well, there's definitely a GPS module issue. Test bench: Nightly 19 + "bluetooth kernel fix" (some posts above); completely wiped phone - fresh ROM reinstall 1. Using power widget, turn on GPS module; status icon will NOT turn on (seems that if the GPS is not required, it stays in standby - nice!) 2. Using "GPS Status & Toolbox" as a tester, launch it; the status icon will turn on and flash (signaling activity) and it will fix the position 3. Exit GPS Status, turn off GPS module using power widget, then wait for the status icon to disappear 4. Turn on GPS module again; status icon will NOT turn on, as in point 1. 5. Relaunch GPS Status; this time the status icon will NOT show up, it will not fix anymore, and the display is very choppy Workaround for now: 1. Using power widget, turn the GPS module on 2. Reboot; now the GPS will work again (you can test it from the above point 2) Another "workaround" to be tested 1. Leave the GPS module always on... hoping it will turn off automatically when not required... have to check battery usage! It seems like the power widget has some problems when turning the GPS "off"... PS: On nightly 8, everything was OK - you can turn on and off the GPS module as much as you want PPS: Anyone can submit this issue to the developers? I think I haven't the rights... UPDATE: - Using Sygic Aura, the "pointer" is very choppy... you know what I mean... just like your car is "frogging" on the street... (GPS position refresh rate is very slow?) - For the guys that claim GPS is working (fonix232 etc.): please test the GPS by switching it ON, then OFF, then ON again... and the problem will rise (maybe?) Thank you very much That problem has been confirmed by now by: Trademark-NRW / mELIANTE / That-Guy / LordKickapoo Edited March 14, 2011 by marcodassi
Guest Frankish Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Should this be In call UI Un ticked ? No. It's ticked TICKED TICKED on mine and proximity works fine. I rang the nice T-Mobile people a few times and no problems so far. P.S. I hate T-Mobile. :D
Guest Zythus Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 SO by a morning there is N20 coming, with that fixed kernel? So good :D
Guest ms20 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Usb storage turns on automatically as soon as it is plugged into the pc which unmounts the sd card and is quite annoying, is this a cyanogenmod/gingerbread thing or a small/tiny problem?
Guest targetbsp Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 No. It's ticked TICKED TICKED on mine and proximity works fine. I rang the nice T-Mobile people a few times and no problems so far. P.S. I hate T-Mobile. :D People were saying it should be unticked yesterday? lol. I'm guessing that particular setting doesn't much matter then?
Guest ThrashMan Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Usb storage turns on automatically as soon as it is plugged into the pc which unmounts the sd card and is quite annoying, is this a cyanogenmod/gingerbread thing or a small/tiny problem? Not sure that's even possible. Is USB debug is turned off the phone will *offer* to mount USB, but as long as the Android is green the SD card is still mounted. With USB debug turned on the phone does nothing when USB is connected.....2 entries appear in the dropdown notification blind.
Guest That-Guy Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Thought the re-connect to wifi after sleep was fixed but still not working for me :D
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 You missed a link to css kernel from toms sources that fixes BT or my post with the same kernel in an update .zip :D Not that it will matter by morning. Pretty much exactly. I'm sure we won't expand past 2 more pages tonight. People will find it, I'm lazy. :( Also, it could be a blessing, Bluetooth is such a horrible technology.
