I have to agree. The "Gingerbread Launcher free" by Eugene373 is by far the smoooothest launcher i've ever used on the blade! :(

For me the smooooothest launcher is Zeam :D !

Just for fun a screenshot of this rom with ADW EX and a screenshot of Launcher 7 (it's a bit slow but nice to look at!)

EDIT:

:D

Look at the battery difference in 4 minutes...except it's 12 hours and 4 minutes :(

My logcats were refused because I a) dumped them on the SD Card, :D had my phone overclocked, c) was not using the RC2.

I will now re-do them. I will try to get again a significant number of them.

On N23 now, everything fine after NOT restoring anything (from my old Froyo backups).

Question about settings on CM7.

Is it still recommended to turn off Wallpaper Hack ? As CM7 improves, its hard to tell what is best with settings (for instance, I read a few posts up that the launcher is a bit snappier in N25).

On the same subject, does anyone know of a good resource for CM7 settings discussion - there are so many options. A) I don't understand them all, and :D I'd be keen to get an idea of what works for others, pros and cons, etc.

I did look at the CM wiki but the info on settings is a work in progress.

In N25 does anyone else have no preview in video record?

edit: working now

As nothing is restored, you may consider to flash the n25 which seems more stable..

Wallpaper hack was for ADW if you chose to keep it, Eugene's launcher is a rocket compared to it..!

About settings, i haven't changed much, as i don't understand much too, excepts apps to internal (sd-ext in fact, btw what was your choice finally: a2sd or apps2sd..?)

You may find additionnal infos on frandroid forums (ZTE Blade's section is full of enthusiastics thanks to the very hard & good work done around here btw)

Not me, preview in video record works as it should.

And by the way, somebody on the forum told us that the lag and jitter in menu's is gone in N25, but it isn't, at least not for me! (UK TFT version)

But it sure is strange that if you fiddle around with the menu, that at some point you ARE able to get it smooth...

And besides that, when I installed the google apps you can set the language at the first boot. The list has always been laggy, but for some reason I was able to get it smooth a few nightlies back... VERY strange!.....

OK! I think Eugene373 is smother but the difference is not that big, and Zeam has more customizations so i will go with the latter, tnx!

@Roo13: Thanks for the reply. I think I will try Eugene's launcher although I do like the features of ADW so I hope Eugene's has similar functionality. I don't understand your question about a2sd or apps2sd. A few posts back I was having problems restoring. I tried using DarkTremor but that didn't help - I assumed that there are problems restoring some apps (as Rotmann keeps highlighting), plus I was also coming form Froyo so I thought maybe thats not good. In the end I reinstalled everything from Appbrain. Thanks for the frandroid link.

Damn - you have reminded me I need to ask another question about restoring/reinstalling (which I seriously hate doing) :D

@anyone: When I reinstalled from Appbrain, why did I have so many problems - it was a royal PITA:

* when reinstalling apps, why do I have to manually move them to the SD card. I have the ext partition, and I have set CM7 to allow move to SD, to external. When I go in to Manage Apps, I can see the apps in the SD card tab, but they have the tick outline, but not the green tick. I then have to move them one by one, and then the tick appears (and the memory reflects the change). Isn't there a batch option (couldn't find it) and shouldn't it happen automatically, like it did in FLB Froyo ?

* why do I keep reading about using the setting "move to INTERNAL" to move apps to the SD card. Should it be external or internal ?

* does it matter if I have ext2 or ext3 ?

* I had to copy apps from three different phone lists that had been "mysteriously" created on Appbrain, to one new list, then making the new list the default list ??

* When I reinstalled stuff from Appbrain, I had to do it in batches of 5 or 10 apps, and press install and accept for about 60 apps. Is there not a quicker, automatic way to reinstall from a list of apps ?? (without pressing install and accept each time).

Going to try and restore from a Titanium backup made in CM7 next time (N25) just to see how it copes. Will let you know.

A huge thanks again to everyone helping each other out - I can't wait to be able to help my first newbie.

Sorry for the off-topic question, but since everyone is recommending the Gingerbread Launcher by Eugene, I decided to give it a try and it is snappy indeed. However, where can I find the settings? I hate the way the apps bounce back when you are scrolling through them, is there any way to change this or shall I just stick with LauncherPro (which I'm used to now and like)? How do you change launchers anyway after you have assigned a default one for the home button?

Go to Settings - CyanogenMod Settings - Interface. Scroll down to Overscroll Effect and choose your fav. Choose none if you don't want any bounce back or glow.

Do the same with ... weight.

How do you change launchers anyway after you have assigned a default one for the home button?

-Go to Menu/Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/

-Find the launcher you have as default and "click" on it

-Scroll down to the Clear Defaults button and push it

Sorry if the menu texts are wrong, didn't bother to switch language on the phone :D

Thanks for that, I didn't know you could find it there. Uhm, but how do I get the launcher back to the previous one? (default one set to LP now) Sorry, thought I had overcome n00bitis but clearly not!

Anyone else finding that Google Skymap is incredibly sluggish and unresponsive with CM7?

Clear defaults on LauncherPro - it's in the same place where you move an app to SD card, just scroll down a bit.

While people are talking about launchers, I find Go Launcher Ex to be excellent. Fast, very customisable and free!

Oh yeah Congrats, You should cherish everyone of those minutes you have with her. Believe me when I say this you will wish for those moments back when she grows up. And can someone tell me an android email app with Push. (is there's a thread for this please direct) :D gracias.

k9 claims to have it for IMAP, but i turn it off to save data.

Running N21 this morning with GPS and bluetooth music I had my SD card appear to be removed 3 times (and had to reboot) on a 1 hour journey.

On the way back I tried without GPS with no problem.

I don't know if the problem was vibrations on the SD card contacts from the screen-mount kit or a software problem

On N19 with BatteryandBluetoothFixKernel I experience a better battery life than on N23. (Did'nt try N25 yet.) With N19 i lost 4% in 11 hours, with N23 i lost 17% in about the same time. Anybody else who noticed this? Did full whipe after every update/install and don't have any weird apps running.

Cheers, found it (not an intuitive place to find this kind of thing BTW), but after comparing a bit I think I will stick with LP for now.

Running N25 now, upgraded from N21 without a data wipe (only cache wipe). It seemed a bit sluggish at first but after a restart it seems to run quite well. Can't really tell any difference so far. Battery life is great!

I prefer the new spb shell (though its only in beta phase), as the 3D is kind of eye catching and gives my blade kind of a higher value ;-)

Just updated the first, second and third posts. First should be tidied and slightly cleaner, second has a link to Bl1nk's experimental Kernels (which are excellent) and post 3 has links to IRC.

But yes, suggestions please for stuff to put in. Thank you :D

I have been trying to get my phone to shut down using GPS on the RC2. While yesterday I'd get at least 1 per hour on Nightly 23, on the RC2 I have been failing miserably. O_o
