unlock problem - invalid mmi code - please help

basically i enter the code

2945#*540# and it says USSD running then comes up saying connection problem or invalid mmi code, any ideas whats going wrong?

Im running the cynogen 2.2 rom.

and if its something to do with the new rom, is there anyway of reverting back to factory, or is this affected by installing fastboot roms etc. Any replies greatly appreciated

Before you re-flash 2.1 fastboot make sure you boot into recovery, and do a backup ( you will need this to restore your 2.3 rom) wait until its done and do a "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" then take out the battery and put it back in. hold VOL Down and while holding, plug in the USB cable you should see "Download Mode" on the screen.

Flash your 2.1 FASTBOOT ROM(it must be fastboot rom otherwise your phone will get stuck at LG screen) via KDZ. Once it reboots and you get to the Home Screen open the "Phone" app and try unlocking the device, when it unlocks, reboot and go into Fastboot (Camera + Power) and install Recovery. Reboot once more and hold in Home button and restore your backup from erlier, there you go, you should be unlocked.
