Guest wbaw Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 it doesn't matter if you install the Google apps to the system or the data partition. It's just a matter of taste. It matters a lot. As you can see a lot of these apps are quite large & get updated frequently. If they're installed on /system, then the market updates go on /data & the original package stays on system, so you end up using twice as much space as you would if they were on data. Also, these don't fit on a 138mb system partition, so I get complaints from other people that also want to do it wrong & wonder why it doesn't work.
Guest Schwinni Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 It matters a lot. As you can see a lot of these apps are quite large & get updated frequently. If they're installed on /system, then the market updates go on /data & the original package stays on system, so you end up using twice as much space as you would if they were on data. That's why I recommended to use Titanium Backup's "Integrate updates of system apps into ROM" batch, which moves an updated version from /data to /system. Also, these don't fit on a 138mb system partition, so I get complaints from other people that also want to do it wrong & wonder why it doesn't work. That is indeed a big problem, CM7 + all apps need a 160 MB system partition. Before the "Gen2 era" the packages were perfect when using your TPT NAND Backup & Partition Tool or default partition sizes. Perhaps it is a good idea to only provide an updated minimal package where just the apps which already are already contained in gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip are replaced by new versions...
Guest targetbsp Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 The very latest Titanium Backup (3.8.1, PRO only) can move any user apps to system rather than just updates. Which is nice.
Guest oscheng Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 The very latest Titanium Backup (3.8.1, PRO only) can move any user apps to system rather than just updates. Which is nice. I've been playing with that and some apps didn't work on N41 (I think that's what I'm on...) with GEN1 conversion. Handcent, FBReader, Opera Mini 6, Flext9, Touchpal all broke permanently (even after move back to user, wipe, uninstall, restore old titanium backups.) However, lots of stuff did work. Wavesecure, Gapps, edinbus, and I can't remember what else. PS I just tried the main link http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/...0307-signed.zip and Avast threw up a URL:MAL warning. Is this a false positive? Cheers oscheng

Guest u116040 Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 gapps-gb-20110511-signed causes me Goggles FC on CM7 n72&74 (even after wipe of cache, dalvik, data, system, I tried gapps-gb-20110307-signed, gapps-gb-20110503-signed and gapps-gb-20110511-signed), are you using gapps-gb-20110503-signed files (see http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/) ? Using gapps-gb-20110503-signed or gapps-gb-20110307-signed + Goggles in market is ok.

Using gapps-gb-20110503-signed or gapps-gb-20110307-signed + Goggles in market is ok. Thanks for the feedback. I will have a look into this. But I probably cannot do it before tomorrow. A temporary fix could be to delete Googles from gapps-gb-20110511-signed.zip. What is the size of your system partition? Not that the difference in file size from Goggles 1.3.1 to Goggles 1.4 causes your system partition to run out of space when using the complete package (see wbaw's post a few posts above).
Guest u116040 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 220Mb for system (this) Btw, where are your files from ? I didn't find for 1/2 of them (I mean comparing GApps packages).
Guest Nyberg Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Files are updates now... Do they include the most recent version of Google talk with voice talk?
Guest Schwinni Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 220Mb for system (this) That is more than enough space. I have to look at the package. Btw, where are your files from ? I didn't find for 1/2 of them (I mean comparing GApps packages). Do they include the most recent version of Google talk with voice talk? I always include the latest version the market offers. The APKs are directly from my phone then.
Guest Schwinni Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I found out something interesting concerning Goggles: I didn't integrate the latest version to system after installation. I just did that now and now it FCs for me too. I have to look if some libs came with the latest version...
Guest Schwinni Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I searched on the data partition for files which could have been installed together with Goggles 1.4, but didn't find anything. That's really weird. The error message when starting it from the system partition doesn't point to a missing lib or helper app either: Process: com.google.android.apps.unveil Flags: 0xbe45 Package: com.google.android.apps.unveil v121 (1.4) Build: google/passion/passion:2.3.3/GRI40/102588:user/release-keys java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: nativeGetBucketDistribution at com.google.android.apps.unveil.nonstop.ImageBlurProcessor.nativeGetBucketDistrib tion(Native Method) at com.google.android.apps.unveil.nonstop.ImageBlurProcessor.getBucketDistribution(ImageBlurProcessor.java:476) at com.google.android.apps.unveil.nonstop.ImageBlurProcessor.onProcessFrame(ImageBlurProcessor.java:225) at com.google.android.apps.unveil.nonstop.FrameProcessor.processFrame(FrameProcessor.java:253) at com.google.android.apps.unveil.nonstop.ProcessingThread.processFrame(ProcessingThread.java:123) at com.google.android.apps.unveil.nonstop.ProcessingThread$1.handleMessage(ProcessingThread.java:68) at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) at com.google.android.apps.unveil.nonstop.ProcessingThread.run(ProcessingThread.java:78) I guess the only solution is to take Goggles out of the package...
Guest u116040 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I diffed the content of data.img (unyaffs) before gapps, after gapps via market and after gapps pack : \data\data\com.google.android.apps.unveil\lib\libimageutils-new.so \data\data\com.google.android.apps.unveil\lib\libopticalflow-new.so \data\data\com.google.android.apps.unveil\lib\libzxing-new.so are missing (not extracted) when the APK is only copied ; there is 2 versions (arm v6/arm v7) of these libs in the APK. It seems to explain the error you find (java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError). Also, \data\data\com.google.android.voicesearch\lib\libvoicesearch.so is missing. There's maybe other missing files/settings :P .

I will upload updated files right now. Also, \data\data\com.google.android.voicesearch\lib\libvoicesearch.so is missing. libvoicesearch.so comes with the gapps package. :P Edited May 27, 2011 by Schwinni
Guest shadowninty Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Maps was updated BTW To make goggles work, I copied the ARMv6 libs from the APK to the GApps.zip, then deleted the lib folder from the APK and re-added it All done with Astro :P
Guest Shieraz Shah Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 @iKrautDroid, you may not select Gmail, since it is probably not available for your country-provider combination. You can install all other apps though. After that, install "market enabler" and set your provider to "T-Mobile (us)". Then you'll find Gmail in the market. thanks for the hint, i just needed the gmail app and could not get it in my app market :-) muchas gracias :D
Guest sm4tik Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip out for grabs at http://goo-inside.me/gapps/
Guest Schwinni Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 After one month another update - including the brand new Google+.
Guest Schwinni Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Wow, Google is updating the Google+ app faster than they allow invited people to join... :)
Guest Schwinni Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Sorry, I pasted the wrong link for the basic package. The link gave you the full package. This is fixed now.
Guest shadowninty Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Market 3.0; Here is a flashable .zip I made (only for HDPI devices) http://db.tt/xsxKtKm I just brute unsigned it, and added it to an older flashable .zip Needs ClockworkMod3 Will save around 3MB Thanks for keeping this up mate, by the way :)
Guest Schwinni Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 Don't ask me why Google didn't raise the version number, but there is a new version 1.0.2 of the Google+ app...
Guest Schwinni Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 I have a question to all users of my packages: Shall I include the latest market app (version 3.x) or shall I wait until Google makes it also (officially) available outside the US? Please give me some opinions. Also tell me if you already tried the new market and had any problems in your country. Thanks in advance!
Guest Migun Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 If the leaked version is the same that US users have, you should put it :) ! I am using it since the leak, and never had a problem with it (I am in Portugal)
