Guest Anil k Solanki Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 (edited) Yes I can confirm that... I have also tried to split the message, and the messages go normalla (unless I have tried to send a big message first, which seems to disable my ability to send messages at all for a while). The problem is surely in some deep configuration of the SMS sending mechanism, that's why I thought that a full wipe would do the trick. But I want to delay that as long as possible...:( As for the €0.90, I owe you much more than that, Anil! Thanks a lot for your help! ;) Hi qwerty_29, your issue is very curious. If it was me I would do this, please forgive me if I repeat any steps you have already tried. Reflash N142+ after wiping the Dalvik cache, and the Cache partition.Make a Nandroid backup. Factory reset the phone, wiping everything. I would use a different Micro SD card (if you have one) to be extra sure. Then Flash N142+ & Gapps.Flash GSF after doing another Factory reset. Compared to a lot of folks here I'm a novice, but I would try those steps in that order. If you get to step 3 and your issue is solved, then I would try Flashing N142+ and hopefully your issue/bug will have gone. Sorry I can't provide a definite solution, but at least you can drink some decent coffee (Portugal) whilst flashing the ROM's. Finally if anybody else has any ideas or suggestions please feel free to contribute. Anil. Edited July 28, 2011 by Anil k Solanki

You have lovely ladies, on the other hand... ;) Bad news: step 1 was already tested, with no success solving this. Guess I'll have to test step two (not today though). Just one question: how do you perform a Nandroid Backup? Using recovery? One other question, btw: I loved the alarm stock app that came with the stock rom (2.1). Would it work on CM7 if I restore the stock rom, backup the app, flash CM7, and then restore the alarm app? Thanks a lot! EDIT: unfortunately I do not have another SD card...but that could hardly be the issue, right? what does the card have to do with any communications processes like SMS or calls? I have never used the stock alarm clock app. I use the current stock clock app, which I love. So, sorry I can't advise you on that. As for the SD card, that is just me being super cautious. I have never met you and the last thing I would want is for my advice to f**k up you SD card contents. Nandroid backup, yes, you do that in Recovery, backup and restore>Backup I hope you have some success. Anil.
Guest Janil Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 on a related note, has anyone noticed that it now says android 2.3.5 build GRJ90 in nightly 145 - i can't even find the commit that changed that in gerrit or the changelog, in git it seems to be defined in build/core/version_defaults.mk and vendor/cyanogen/products/cyanogen_blade.mkhttps://github.com/C...ace11945c50761d https://github.com/C...695b969b046e554 Old news :)
Guest lordofangels Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 No specific Blade fixes/updates in this build. Official CM N146 md5sum: 77757a01e02493838f6e14e5cc25130a
Guest Gregorypeg1000 Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I have installed n145 with full wipe/factory reset/format cache and in a night i lost 30% of battery!! Has it happened to anyone else?
Guest androrphin Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Sorry if this question has been answered in this topic but it's kinda huge to read through. With Sej's N142 build, or indeed any currenty nightly, do I still need to apply libaudio.so (to prevent battery drain) and the gps reboot fix ?
Guest neologan Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 wifi still drops when phone goes to sleep and you turn it on? I thought that would be sorted by now (i have come from an oooold froyo rom)

Hi androrphin, N142+ from sej7278 is good to go, no need to tweak. Just make sure you flash google apps if you are new to Cyanogen. Get it here. It's the first one in the list, flash the zip file directly after the rROM flash. I hope this helps. Anil.

Guest tsddave Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Calibrate your battery first. I would suggest you charge the phone overnight give it a restart then charge for a further 2 hours. This will give the battery max strength (doing this eveytime gives you more battery life btw). After that either download the free app battery calibration from the market or go into CWM and go advanced and then select wipe battery stats. Reboot the phone and your done :)

The soft-keys are the only reason I staying on your 142+ Would be nice if CM would add them to the builds,I have no idea why they do not seeing as we have other tablet tweaks ?

Guest Gregorypeg1000 Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Calibrate your battery first. I have already done this.Full charge with the mobile power on.Then power off.Charging for another 3 hours.Calibrate. The battery status at full charge now is at 4240mV
Guest spanner44 Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Hi, yes install the zip via clockwork. Then flash the Gapps zip available here Gapps it's the first download at the top of the list. I recommend wiping the Dalvik cache, and the Cache partition first then install the two zip files. No personal data will be lost, except any game scores stroed on the phone such as angry birds. Do a backup first using the free apps available in the market place. I hope this helps. Anil. Thanks Anil, great help, everything flashed fine.

The only downside of soft buttons is that you don't see the date when pulling down notification area. I don't know if that's the reason for not enabling them with blade, but it's something I would be missing. I don't think it would be too much of a task to make an enable/disable option for soft buttons, but it needs someone to do it. That way everyone would be happy :)

That way everyone would be happy :) yes i see what you mean - you can chose which ones to display or just not display any, but you can't disable the functionality completely, other than at compile time. that said, i don't think i've ever noticed there's a date in the notification area until you said (just checked on regular n146) as i have the date/time on my lockscreen and homescreen as a widget, i don't even display the time in the statusbar!

Wi-fi eats battery! Otherwise, battery consumption is great (in my opinion). One other thing: is it just me or camera zooming does not work 100% well? First of all is very laggy when zooming in/out, second no matter how you zoom in, the final picture is still "unzoomed"...

He owns everything in Italy, who knows he also has some kind of control over Modaco... The sotck alarm on stock 2.1 is great because when ringing 9 dots appear on the screen, and some of them are aleatory painted yellow. You have to touch the yellow ones in order for the alarm stops ringing. That was a life-saver sometimes, has you can imagine: it prevents some oversleeps! I'll backup my SD card to my pc. Full content! Only then will perform full wipe! Your advices have been super-helpful, btw! Before, I'll still run some more tests! Right now I have an hunch that the problem might be caused by using "unfamiliar" (for the android at least) accentuation, namely "á", "ã" or "â", that we use when writing in Portuguese. Will test for that. Another test is to uninstall Handcent and try to send big SMS (or accentuated SMS, if my hunch is correct) with stock message app, but with no Handcent (or any other 3rd party app) installed. Who knows if the mere existance of Handcent isn't messing up with the system when trying to send SMS? I am also testing GO SMS while Handcent is not present (the only test I ran with GO SMS I had only force stopped Handcent app, but it was still installed in the Android). EDIT IMPORTANT: done all the testing (at least all that I can think of). It's definitely not a Handcent issue. It's not a special character (´ ^ ~) issue. The only reliable procedure to reproduce the problem is by sending a 3+ pages SMS (all together). From that point on, no SMS will be sent, even a small one (with only one word, per example). Reboot will sometimes fix (by fix I mean I can send small SMS, the long SMS problem remains) it. Sometimes it fixes itself for apparent no reason. On VERY RARE ocasions a 3 page SMS can be sent with no problem, but that is rare, and I have never managed to send a 5+ paged SMS. If none works, then I'll go for the full wipe, I guess... But maybe I'll wait a little bit for that, until a (even more) flawless release (WI-FI bat drainage fixed, camera zoom fixed, fully functional leds fixed). BTW: if I want to restore stock ROM (in order to backup alarm app, so that I can restore and use it in CM7), I do have to revert the phone back to GEN2, correct? Is it easy? Thanks Anil! ;) Edited July 29, 2011 by qwerty_29

Hmm no battery consumption is not great compared to other roms Using a ginger leak based rom I currently have 51% battery left and the phone has been on 2days 19hours and 7mins! This is leaving the phone on over night and using the phone in the day for calls, apps and sms. Comparing this to cm7 I would say the battery life on cm7 is 25% of what I get on this rom.

Regarding your alarm app. If your handset was originally Gen 1, and the stock ROM is only available as a Gen 1 then you will have to revert. In my opinion that is a lot of mucking around for some yellow dots! Easier still would be to download the stock ROM to your PC then open the .zip file and find the alarm.apk that way. Then you can do what you like with the app. Ciao for now. Anil. Edited July 29, 2011 by Anil k Solanki

I was using 133 and 134 and got lots of gallery and gps reboots and was loosing battery maybe due to the audio.lib hiss problem...but your 142plus fixed all that and runs pretty stable, so Im weary of trying standard nightlies...
