Guest targetbsp Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 is the reliability good now on cm7 last time i tryed it it was pritty poor hence i swapped to GSF It's been reliable for months but it's been totally kick ass since N206. :)
Guest iNoobz2Droid Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) how is currently state of CM7? i still have 220+ of sej7228 and was very surprised that my battery was still alive with almost 30% left when i returned home after a week  Edited October 27, 2011 by iNoobz2Droid
Guest dibbles Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) never mind, given up for now Edited October 27, 2011 by dibbles
Guest ThrashMan Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 i didn't do a "227+" i did a "24oct", which included the power widget and miui battery bar with all the ridiculous settings and silly defaults, fixes for which are still being worked on in gerrit. the cm7 devs have gone a bit settings crazy, anyone new to android will be totally overwhelmed by a dozen or so settings categories and then another dozen or more categories inside "cyanogenmod settings". there must be over a hundred screens full of settings now. total control is nice, but its just got confusing, especially when similar settings like brightness/volume control are spread around at least 3 different locations each. i think we need a "basic" and "advanced" settings app, perhaps "basic" could be just the regular android settings app and "advanced" could be cyanogenmod settings. and we need the option to backup all of our CM settings!
Guest robinhud2010 Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Ok, will freeze gmaps and "faceshite" and report back on how it turns out... Nope, no luck. Still lost 9% overnight. Maybe a different combination of apps are causing the drain?
Guest tsddave Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 so many builds and so many threads it seems hard to find what to use, at present im using GSF n25, looking to swap to CM, just looking for some advice on 1) is it worth it? 2) what build should i use to reliability etc... many thankx 1) Thats depends on what you need. If cm7 does something you desire that GSF does not. Also keep in mind that battery life isnt as good. 2) Use Sej's 227+

Guest popoyaya Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Anyone one noticed this bug in the lastest [kang] releases? Using wireless tether without the phone plugged in soon results in a frozen phone (have to take battery out)? It's fine with phone plugged in to mains or USB. I'm on 227+
Guest geegeethatsme Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I would recommend cm-7.1.0 stable and if you want some extra e.g. softbuttons then recompile it. +1 I made my own compile of 7.1.0 and tweaked it to my preference - deleting some apps, adding others and modifying build.prop with things that are probably placebo but seem to work for me.
Guest blade_ Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 hello all!why 228 takes too long to be ready? btw,i prefer that from change every day a version
Guest Simono Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 If You want You can use this Current CM7 KANG

I'm on 227+ CM7 has always done that(at least for me). Though I don't see any reason why to use WiFi hotspot without plugged, cause it drains my batt all the way to 0% within two hours...

Though I don't see any reason why to use WiFi hotspot without plugged, cause it drains my batt all the way to 0% within two hours... It comes in handy for tethering to the tablet on long journeys. With a portable charger I can get an extra 4 or 5 full charges on the blade.
Guest Pierreism Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) I only jumped to CM7 recently and I've been reading all about this KANG build, but I can't seem to find that ROMs main homepage/thread? I could only find ones for the Galaxy Ace and Optimus P990 build on xda-developers forum. Nothing for Blade specifically. Could someone direct me to the original KANG directory so I can check out what it does? Thanks! Edited October 27, 2011 by Pierreism

KANG just means that one of us compiled the current sourcecode as it stands at the time it was compiled. It isn't a different rom and doesn't have a homepage. It's just a way of getting access to upcoming CM7 features earlier than a nightly. They are scattered throughout this thread as and when someone makes one. There's a few of them atm because buildbot is failing to make nightlies so we're doing it's job for it. There's a link to one 3 posts above yours. Edited October 27, 2011 by targetbsp

Guest sej7278 Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Sej din't do 227+ he did Oct24 !! He might start shouting if anyone else says he did 227+ ;) lol yeah, don't blame me for n227+ that was targetbsp or tommieb or something B) i gave up on calling it nightly-whatever as by then it was 115 patches since n227, and was more like n235, so oct24 it was.
Guest targetbsp Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I haven't called anything + :D I consider that naming convention yours. :P And number wise I referred to is as 232/233 as that's the nightly it would have been if buildbot was working the past week. But i didn't give it any official name, left it as the default it compiles as.
Guest cool400 Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 :mellow:<_<:(:o WTF is going wrong??? I just installed sej's october 24th-ROM and flashed the updated gapps_20110815 (option 1, the full package). I configured the phone with my Gmail-account and only installed YouTube and Maps (strange thing, I NEVER get Gmail installed, maybe because of my german Gmail-account) - everything else is plain as it's in sej's ROM! Then, when making a call, I can speak to my opposite for some seconds any suddenly the screen turns black and the phone doesn't respond anymore - wether I shake it, press the power-button, menu-button, back-button etc. Really weird is, that the call is going on like everything's okay, I can speak to my opposite until he ends the call (which I'm not able anymore to, only if I remove the battery). I reproduced this error several times. First I thought it was because one of my installed apps, but this already happens to my nearly plain configuration like described above... Do you have any ideas what I may did wrong? Best regards cool400 B)

Sheesh I should really read his sig once in awhile. Edited October 27, 2011 by Pierreism

I think its somewhere in the Cyanogenmod Settings menu, but it got moved recently so I don't know where exactly it is now.
Guest sej7278 Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 You need to calibrate the proximity sensor. I think its somewhere in the Cyanogenmod Settings menu, but it got moved recently so I don't know where exactly it is now. but even with messed up proximity the power button would bring the screen back, usually. in my 24oct build proximity calibration is under "settings->zte blade settings", its not a separate app as it would be with regular nightlies. its certainly worth trying especially if you've come from a build that was the old 2.6.32 kernel from a month ago or so. cool400 - did you wipe /data or just dalvic cache? i assume its gen2? have you come from gsf or something? have you tried the regular nightly 227? there are a lot more settings in the 24oct build, have a good poke around any that look like they refer to screensavers, brightness, proximity etc.

I think its somewhere in the Cyanogenmod Settings menu, but it got moved recently so I don't know where exactly it is now. I don't think it's ever been in the Cm Settings menu. On most of the self compiles it's in the main settings list called ZTE Blade Settings. On the official nightlies it's an app called ZTE Blade Settings.

I'm on 227+ I also had problems with CM wifi tether, use Bernacle Wifi Tether from market instead, works like a charm.
