Guest kahush Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Yes im also getting reboots here and there sometimes, nothing particular to point out though. Do you overclock? yes,to 691mhz
Guest kahush Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) The CM7 changelog is here: http://cm-nightlies....m/?device=blade + whatever is in Sejs signature = Sej's build. :) Are you using the undervolt kernel? It could be your CPU needs the extra power. No, I just flashed the rom nothing more. Edited January 29, 2012 by kahush
Guest sej7278 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 yes,to 691mhz i've lost all faith in overclocking with the 2.6.35 kernel, i just don't bother anymore and have rock solid stability. not sure how wise it is to overclock with an undervolted kernel, although it shouldn't make a difference above 400MHz. also try another governor, i like ondemand and think smartass2 is overrated. if you're overclocking and have stability problems its not exactly rocket science to figure out what's wrong is it? :D
Guest targetbsp Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) also try another governor, i like ondemand and think smartass2 is overrated. SmartAssV2 is infinitely superior than OnDemand in this app: http://www.appbrain.....postmodernlite Other than that I've not notice much difference between any of the governors designed to balance battery and performance. But I've seen no reason to not use SmartAssv2 when it has verifiable improvements in one app and no downsides in any other than I'm aware of. i've lost all faith in overclocking with the 2.6.35 kernel, i just don't bother anymore and have rock solid stability. I've had no issues overclocking to a speed I know to be stable but I did have one reboot (which is the first I've had in several months!) under the UV kernel. Logically speaking, undervolting is just as risky for stability as overclocking. In fact, more so seeing as you can't tune it for your CPU. Edited January 29, 2012 by targetbsp
Guest Maxsas360 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 thanks for spotting the errors regarding defconfig/zram, i've fixed it in the original post now, bit too much copy'n'paste and not enough thinking on my part :D as far as "repo sync" goes, you'll probably have to remove the patched files to get it to sync properly. cd into each directory and do a "git reset --hard HEAD" and then "git status" to check if you need to delete any untracked files, then do the "repo sync". i keep a note of what changes the patches make, so i can undo them, currently its this lot. i guess you could just delete them all and "repo sync" to re-fetch the originals: kernel_zte_blade (cpu/wifi undervolt, call recording) # modified: Makefile # modified: arch/arm/configs/cyanogen_blade_defconfig # modified: arch/arm/mach-msm/acpuclock.c # modified: arch/arm/mach-msm/board-zte-blade.c # modified: arch/arm/mach-msm/qdsp5/Makefile # # Untracked files: # arch/arm/mach-msm/qdsp5/vocpcm.c device/zte/blade (kernel) # modified: kernel # modified: prebuilt/zram.ko frameworks/base/ (battery1, battery colour1, softbuttons) # modified: core/java/android/provider/Settings.java # modified: core/res/res/values/config.xml # modified: packages/SystemUI/res/layout/status_bar.xml # modified: packages/SystemUI/res/values/styles.xml # modified: packages/SystemUI/src/com/android/systemui/statusbar/StatusBarPolicy.java # # Untracked files: # packages/SystemUI/res/drawable/battery_bar.xml # packages/SystemUI/src/com/android/systemui/statusbar/CmBatteryBar.java packages/apps/CMParts/ (battery2, battery colour2) # modified: res/values/arrays.xml # modified: res/values/strings.xml # modified: res/xml/ui_status_bar.xml # modified: src/com/cyanogenmod/cmparts/activities/UIStatusBarActivity.java vendor/tmobile/themes/Androidian (battery3) # modified: res/xml/com_android_systemui.xml # # Untracked files: # res/drawable/com_android_systemui_battery_bar.xml vendor/tmobile/themes/Cyanbread (battery4) # modified: res/xml/com_android_systemui.xml # # Untracked files: # res/drawable/com_android_systemui_battery_bar.xml to update the kernel repo just do a "git pull", although the kernel's not been updated in months, so you'll already have the latest. if you don't want to compile the kernel all the time just keep a copy of the kernel and zram.ko files you've just built and copy them into the device/zte/blade/ and prebuilt/ directories in future, that's what i do as compiling the kernel takes almost as long as the whole of cm7! wow its almost a year since i joined and got my blade (and my birthday!) time to start looking for a new phone with fecking arm7 and not an adreno gpu! What are you planning to buy? I am thinking of a new phone too, because of my demands of portable gaming.
Guest GodveX Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Hello gys im looking for sej`s latest build with undervolt kernel is there a link as i cant find none also how do i install the miui battery bar on sejs rom please ?
Guest cloudyday76 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Could I ask a total lamer favor I would be very grateful for? Could anyone upload for me from any custom compiled kernel 2.6.35 from cm7 he has already the next modules for zte blade: nls_utf8.ko, slow_work.ko, and cifs.ko? I don´t have here right now where to compile and besides, I just came to android yesterday from mi good trusted old pal debian for x86, And it still takes me a while to crosscompile anything for arm with specific specs. I am only an amateur in this and computer a small hobby, but I hope to be helpful here when I got it a little better. Many thanks for your time for reading this, despite you could or not have time for mi lamer humble request. Keep going,
Guest JimJam707 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 On Sej's 26Jan build I can't rotate any apps. I know the accelorometer is working as the camera rotates to take pictures the right way round. I've checked the display options in CMSettings so I know that's not the problem. Anyone?
Guest targetbsp Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 What are you planning to buy? I am thinking of a new phone too, because of my demands of portable gaming. If a gamer, surely the Xperia Play whenever it's next on sale for a £150 is a no brainer? ARMv7, nice screen, physical gamer controls. I've used one, it's good.

Guest cloudyday76 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Worked nice. And about your issue: may I offer the time you need (months.. a year... is no prob) a dedicated server 100Mb/s in OVH I have now idle, and open you an account to put whatever you like? there should be around 100GB free in it al least.. Domain is my alias at internet cloudy.es but you can have a domain cos I have a few for free at piensasolutions.es .org.es .nom.es or .com.es. I have also a shared hosting in USA at arvixe.com wich can be redirected from any of the above also. And for good if you are from USA I am only under Spain's low, no software patents.in the first, OVH's, wich is in france, you can reach me to account Ihave for public use in forums may anyone else interested: [email protected] And listen, is not disturb as is idle and I have a lot of free time for 2 min opening an account, cos further else eitherway you wold be the admin of your domain and space...Only I need couple of days cos is wich a old unupdated debian 5 And cant be put again in the world this way. Hugs and greetings to all. . not sure, certainly nothing from zte but i don't want to have to pay £500 for a samsung/ericsson phone just to be able to hack around with ics. i'd prefer a ti-omap chipset to anything from qualcomm, i don't want to be stuck praying for a leaked libsurfaceflinger.so or a real 2.6.35 kernel someone mirrored it to multiupload or somewhere, i had to remove it from my site due to bandwidth. miui is already built into it, you've just got to turn it on in cyanogenmod settings. no idea, could be something to do with the new transition/fade stuff. what's with the massive animated sig? the only module that's used in cm7 out of that lot is cifs.ko, i've zipped it up and put it here as someone who has a games console for playing games :D i'd prefer the xperia pro for the qwerty keyboard, but again its qualcomm and andreno 205 bullshit.

Guest sej7278 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) how about xiaomi m1? :) well i like the specs and the price, but i'm not an miui fan as i don't speak chinese, but if aosp/cm9 in english were supported it would be lovely, assuming it ever makes it to the stores outside of china.... I wouldn't call it massive really :P If I get a lot of complaints I'll change it. lol, its 4x the size of your post and i don't understand it. Worked nice. And about your issue: may I offer the time you need (months.. a year... is no prob) a dedicated server 100Mb/s in OVH thanks for the generous offer, but i'm too much of a control freak for that. i've got 1000gb/month on my server, but i've never got around to properly monitoring it, basically if i see over 35gb/day on the stats, i stop hosting the file. you could mirror the files of course, but you may as well let multiupload & co do that for you. i should really get around to load balancing my other server though. mediafire mirror. Guest ziyan Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Hi, Can I simply install targetbsp's or sej's latest build just with wipe dalvik cache and format/wipe cache over n256? I have lots of apps, and I dont want to lose them
Guest sm4tik Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Hi, Can I simply install targetbsp's or sej's latest build just with wipe dalvik cache and format/wipe cache over n256? I have lots of apps, and I dont want to lose them Yes, it should be just fine.
Guest sm4tik Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 yeah i mean after its unlocked and the circle you drag kind of explodes into a bigger circle and then fades away - that's so jittery its awful. is there a way to turn off the blowup/fade bit so we just have a plain ringlock? rotary (regular not revamped which i don't like) works fine, but its a bit boring. i don't fancy changing my launcher just to get a nice lockscreen, although that 360 one looks nice. Anyone feel like hacking the animations out? Especially the blowup animation of the ringlock (though I would assume there's just one part in the locksceen code that triggers them all). It's been on my todo-list for a while but I must admit, I'm not sure how far my skills will take me with this thing.
Guest 569 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 <br />You're reading it the wrong way around.  Less power does not lead to lower speed.  Lower speeds lead to the need for less power.<br /><br />Jurrasstoil explained it well.  Each speed has its own power needs but by default they tend to be set to receive more power than needed to keep them stable despite manufacturing differences between phones.  For instance, mine receives enough power at 604 to keep it stable up to 729.  Hardcore overclockers at this point then overvolt to clock further (there is a point where this will go horribly wrong <img src='http://android.modaco.com/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />).  But you can equally well infer that at 604 (and probably lower frequencies) the CPU could actually be given less power and remain stable.<br /><br />The question is: Does it work setting it in software or is it fixed in hardware no matter what you change?  And is the CPU using enough battery anyway for the power saving to matter?  Tune in tomorrow for the answers to these questions and life the universe and everything! <img src='http://android.modaco.com/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /><br /> Thank you and Jurrasstoil for the explanation. I tried RMClock on my notebook and it seems that undervolting works, but after the test I reverted the change. No matter what outcome your test has, I won't use this undervolting thing, especially not in its current state. I didn't have any positive experience with it in daily use. But of course I'm interested in your test results :)

Ok, just to test it, here's what I did --- a/policy/src/com/android/internal/policy/impl/KeyguardViewManager.java +++ b/policy/src/com/android/internal/policy/impl/KeyguardViewManager.java @@ -231,14 +231,14 @@ public class KeyguardViewManager implements KeyguardWindow if (mKeyguardView != null) { final KeyguardViewBase lastView = mKeyguardView; mKeyguardView = null; - mKeyguardHost.postDelayed(new Runnable() { + mKeyguardHost.post(new Runnable() { public void run() { synchronized (KeyguardViewManager.this) { lastView.cleanUp(); mKeyguardHost.removeView(lastView); } } - }, 500); + }); } } } If it works, it's really just a hack as I'm assuming the animation will still run in background but the screen is refreshed (lockscreen disabled) right away rather than giving it 500ms to show the animation. I'll see if it even makes a difference, I might as well be truely on the wrong track here :) Edited January 29, 2012 by sm4tik

Guest targetbsp Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Hmm.. just seen this change: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,8812 Do you reckon that's why my phone occasionally seems to hang on the Android screen when using Rom Manager?
Guest gruad23 Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 I just installed the KANG-26jan cause I want to try undervolting the kernel but I dont find any configuration for undervolting. I tried the myrt-undervolting-app from market but it says my kernel is not ready for undervolting cause it has no undervolt-tables. What did I miss? thnx
