Guest bhf Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Any one here facing random reboots ? Currently my phone is connected with office pc for charging and it rebooted itself. Dont know why :S Not reboots, but shutdowns. Very annoying.
Guest The_Duck Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I am definitely getting whacky reboots while charging. Having said that while playing Words Free about 30 mins ago, the phone rebooted. Weird thing was the green android didn't show. The screen was still showing Words Free but locked up/unresponsive and then the skating android made a surprise appearance. I have posted some observations in the bug doco but no logs :) Not sure how to get logs for something that happens so randomly. I seem to get most reboots though when I am connected to a PC not to the wall charger or the car charger. Is there something in the USB drivers that is talking to the phone and causing it to freak out and reboot ? Does anyone see something similar on a blade that is ONLY ever connected to a linux machine ?? Duck
Guest hugobosslives Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 just a quick query guys, just got an even bigger sdcard, and am about to partition it. i've always used swap size as 32mb in the past. just wondering if cm7 even needs a swap or not? or if so what size? cheers, keep the good work up

Guest devilkazuya Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 My Device : Blade Gen1 OLED UK I have been using RC4 and its been working brilliantly and i just tried stable. I did: wipe data/factory format system wipe dalvik flash CM7 Stable flash Gapps The only problem i have is, I use a specific Live Wallpaper (aquarium) and when this LWP is set, every incoming call is just blank black screen. I changed the wallpaper to nexus one that comes with the rom and every incoming call screen is half blank. you can see the whos calling but the sliding bars are not there. If i set wallpaper as a normal wallpaper and not a Live wallpaper then the incoming call screen is fine. Lockscreen style i have chosen under CM settings to be sliding tab and not the rotatory. To test this, set the lockscreen style to sliding tab, set any live wallpaper and watch the incoming call screen. Flashed stable 3 times using the steps as mentioned above and still the same, i am surprised nobody else has noticed this. Anyway, i am going back to RC4 and stick with it.
Guest Fou-lu Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 last truly stable rom's were N35>N36<RC4, advise anyone with issues on cm7 to test them...
Guest alex1alex2alex3alex4 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 last truly stable rom's were N35>N36<RC4, advise anyone with issues on cm7 to test them... Right, same here, still using N36 because it's somewhat the "most stable", although it's got that annoying shutdown-when-charging issue :)
Guest jayhix Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 i agree rc4 was most stable for me, shame it went a bit backwards
Guest Fou-lu Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) Right, same here, still using N36 because it's somewhat the "most stable", although it's got that annoying shutdown-when-charging issue :) oh? never got a shutdown issue when charging? only reboot ever was forced when everything goes psycho, menus and input goes transparent black when you click on them only a reboot fixes it, otherwise never automatically shutsdown, by shutdown you mean completely powers off when disconnecting the charge? I honestly lost track of what nightly I'm on, one of them N35-36, only thing with charging I can turn on screen with all hardware keys, not sure if that's a bug :/ Edited April 13, 2011 by Fou-lu
Guest forney27 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 A quick 'fix' for all the people that have their phones crash during charge. menu--->settings--->applications--->development Tick stay awake... this will keep the screen on while charging, but shouldn't crash the phone. It's less than ideal, but it'll do for now. So far so good, this option works for me.
Guest hugobosslives Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 It does not need swap. cheers mate. just wanted to check, i'll set it to 0mb then :) ....only thing with charging I can turn on screen with all hardware keys, not sure if that's a bug :/ there's an option in the cm settings to turn on with menu when charging.......
Guest manji Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) Hello people, I don't seem to be experiencing those charging/USB problems. (stock charger and charger cable) I have a clean install of CM7 stable (cache wipe, data format, dalvik cache wipe - using clockwork NOT the clockwork app - and NO restores) and it seems pretty usable so far. I also did an experience not installing Maps as it seemed to be eating some battery and it held all night long at 100%. This morning, after sending an SMS it started decreasing, so I checked what apps were "open" and the messaging app was still present in the "Battery Use" section. I forced closed it and now the battery is holding at 95% for the last 2 hours plus change. Lets see how it goes. Edited April 13, 2011 by manji
Guest mELIANTE Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 So far so good, this option works for me. Setting an alarm works also, nover had my phone freeze while charging when an alarm is set :)

Guest k0zmic Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 This ROM is working great for me now. If anyone has a proximity sensor issue just untick In-Call touch UI in 'Call Settings'. One problem I have that I can't find a solution (or bug) for is the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy not working, when I set to off when screen turns off it just doesn't seem to work whereas in Swedish Spring and CyanogenMod 7 for Hero it does. Any ideas or solutions? I went about looking on the net where the Hexadecimal values are stored for the Sleep Policy, in COM.AndroidSettings (or something like that) but I don't know how to edit those. I haven't had random reboots or shutdowns when using GPS although I don't use it much.
Guest Maringer Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Setting an alarm works also, nover had my phone freeze while charging when an alarm is set :) Perhaps worth mentioning this in the bug tracker, if you find the opportunity to do so? That might give the devs a pointer as to what may be causing the issue.
Guest kunis6 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 For us Poles move to a GEN2 is very bad because our operators have no intention to do the update to 2.2 and thus the CM becomes bad for us because we will not have warranty.
Guest supermies123 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 There is still shutdown issues in CM7 Stable release. Don't know if they are related to GPS but might be...
Guest AlphaVision Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I am sorry if this has been asket 10000 times, but I can't read 73 pages. I want to install google maps on my phone, but it doesn't allow me. How can I get the google maps apk to manually install it?

Guest samjam Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Doh, +1 alarm set too and no freeze.. In 1991 I had an Atari Portfolio pocket XT computer [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_Portfolio]. If you set an alarm on the PIM it would crash and lose all your data. It's nice to see this little change-around.
