Nightly 40 is out, the first for Gen2 \o/

which Clockwork version to use, seb's 3.0.2.4 gen2 fails,

gonna try other ways, will report back

Jacob has also posted a new thread with his gen2 zip.

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...ghtly-for-gen2/

Note that he says nightlies are likely to be 'very broken', so patience may be in order.

Anyone joining the thread, without having read previous pages - DO NOT USE Nightly 40 onwards, unless you have upgraded to Gen2. You will ahve a phone only suitable for extending your house....

With that in mind, should this thread now be closed and a clean Gen2 CM7 started and a warning put on first page, please? (sorry to go on, but most of us didn't want, or like the aggressive over-reactions, when the decision to go Gen2 only was made).

Is Nightly 40 ONLY for GEN2 or can I install it on GEN1 phone?

we were told n39 was it for gen1. if n40 is for gen2, you'll brick it. I presumed it is for gen2 but still wait for someone to clarify this as maybe the bot sneaked one last one in....lol

If you are on Gen1 then stick with n39

If you are on Gen2 then use this or n40

update: n40 works ok. Any problems installing please give the error message.

Nightly 40 is broken. It won't install for anybody on any device.

If you are on Gen1 then stick with n39

If you are on Gen2 then stick with Jacobs special build until the current issues affecting N40 have been fixed.

Thanks for that flibblesan, can we flash Jacob's special build with Rom Manager or has Koush not updated yet?

or which Clockwork version do you recommend

I can't see how installing N40 will brick your phone. I've tried to install it twice, and have had the same error. Phone's not bricked yet though. Have just repartitioned the phone and updated to the latest CW too. Once Jacobs ROM is downloaded, that'll be installed also. Will edit this post when that's sorted, to detail what went wrong/ right.

Ok, using the Gen 1 to Gen 2 guide, I installed the Guide writers 136mb for system partition as recommended (size for system) by Jacob. Went back to CW and using CW 3.0.1.4 I flashed Jacobs CM7-Gen2.zip/. I then flashed GAPPS-gb.201103070-signed, and rebooted. Booted normally, and i then skipped initial log in, and then added my Google account to the Sync accounts. Have now got a fully working Gen2 CM7 Blade. Have been downloading and installing my apps, and haven't backed anything up yet. Not too fussed about the detail, as i may be flying back to the UK today, and will need a working phone for the journey. Probably shouldn't have done the conversion today, but ach, what you gonna do eh? Got Blade? Got Fiddle :)

Thanks Jacob and CM7 crew!

Installing nighly 40 on a gen1 WILL NOT brick your phone, it will simply either fail to install or fail to boot. Anyone flashing it by mistake can just restore their nandroid backup. And yes, nightly 40 is gen2 only if you read the changelog

ROM Manager recovery is still Gen1 atm, I'll ask koush to update it when he's around. I'll ask him to leave the Gen1 recovery there too for people who want it :)

For anyone with Nightly 40 install problems, try this recovery:

It worked to apply Jacobs Gen2 rom, but now i tried n40 with Jacobs (new) recovery and get this error message:

assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")

E:Error in /sdcard/download/cm_blade_full-40.zip (Status 7)

Installation aborted.

tried sebs also, same message

and same with 3.0.1.4 that came with Gen2 update

Installed today - hoping for good things :)

i assume installing theme you use the theme installer app rather than clockwork mod ?? only ask as i did it the old way and it locked up so needed another wipe and fresh install to cure my stall

I have an idea what may be causing this. Could I ask you if you resized your partitions and what size they are please.

Same error..same partition size..what ya thinking flib?

OK, you are both using the right system size and the cache won't make a difference. I checked the install script and it's the same so I'm stumped. Wait for n41 to come out and try that.

Jacob has similar partitions but he hasn't tried n40 yet. It's possible theres an issue with the zip.

Also, I tried with CWM and Amon Ra recovery. So I don't think it's to do with the recoveries.

The temp build flashed fine.

What does the Makeshift Nightly do for you guys who are stuck?

It works fine. It's built between n39 and n40 so it'll be fine for people to use.
