It works fine. It's built between n39 and n40 so it'll be fine for people to use.

Ahh I see. I've been wondering what nightly it's built upon.

My GPS doesn't seem to work on the gen2 by Jacob

Edit: Also restarts itself?

Edit2: going back to SS until things are sorted. Was impressed with what I saw, well done lads.

Edit3: i was a converted Gen2 using;

gen2_136mb_system_no_oem_15mb_cache---------------------------------------

/dev/block/mtdblock4 15.0M

/cache/dev/block/mtdblock5 136.0M

/system/dev/block/mtdblock6 289.88M /data

Well, I suppose everyone should use that. It obviously works better. We just need to report the error to Jacob.

I think the restarting itself is linked to the GPS? The rebooting seems like a common issue.

You will not be able to upgrade to n40 as long as you phone is Gen1.

Nothing. You will not be able to revert back to Gen1 easily. Since the development starts basically at square one again, enjoy your N38 at least for now.

It's easy. You must upgrade to GEN2 using the guide in forum. I upgraded yesterday and i should test N40 soon...

you cant screw up IF you follow the guide:D

I used 136 MB system partition(gen2_136mb_system_no_oem_2mb_cache) so it should be right one?

And its working better after I do that?

It's not, read up on the current issues here,

I would stay on Gen1 until these issues are sorted.

Has anyone been able to flash N40?

Failed here with Error 7 assert failure

136MB system, 2MB Cache

Jacob's Makeshift flashing OK but with WiFi reconnect failure & GPS related reboots.

You could prepare by going GEN2 and using this ROM it is REALLY sweet and smooth. (I used the phat version)

Noo, I will just wait to for it to be stable without bugs etc.

But anyways, what are differences between Gen1 and Gen2?

Its already discussed a s#itload of times. Gen2 because, dudes who got their phones with Gen2 (gentoo lol) already, had a hard time reverting back to Gen1 (IMEI shifts, etc.), and switching to Gen2 from 1 is much easier.

And Gen2 users have unlocked HSUPA and 850mhz compatibility.

Everyone should stick with the though, that from now Gen2 is called official.

Just switch, i did, costed me like 30 minutes (+10 than a regular flashing), and im happy with the results, no problems since then. Future CM7 nightlies/stable will be GEN2 only too.

why gen2? gen1 may better

This is something that needs to be tackled....

read the darn threads.... its discussed countless times.... and we're going to tell you to read it till we're blue in the face.... and yet still ask that question.... c'mon.... I certainly for one, am not going to be forgiving on this matter.... no... read it yourself and find out, we have an irc channel available....

This is totally exasperating in cluttering up vital threads with questions like these that is quite off-putting....

I make no apologies for the condescending tone either.... this is your own fault for not reading the threads and that is what the forum is for....

the old internet adage - RTFM... in this day and age, 21st century and still....and if you're not bothered to do so..... that is showing ignorance and laziness....

I give up.... sigh.....

eh, wow, seems like there's been some flame war going on by the last posts.

Don't hurt me now, but I just need a fast answer(sitting on a shitty connection as well so I can't go through the entire thread). =)

What's the latest release working on gen1?
