i meant that everyone who can't even get the thing installed - are they all gen1 users who have upgraded to gen2, or are some gen2 users having problems too? i.e. is the problem really the gen2 upgrade or is it the nightly?

No one said the issue was the upgrade. It IS the nightly, as it doesn't work on ANY blade, regardless of Gen.

Several phone's users are reporting the same error, bad build :)

For those having the issue of the phone shutting down while charging, there meight be a workaround.

A few days ago I manually shut my phone down before charging it over night. I haven't experienced another shutdown since. Maybe some of you guys can try and confirm or (hopefully not) disprove this works.

I'm running the stable release on an OLED OSF.

Found the cause. The update-binary was updated and it has a bug preventing it from being able to write the boot.img

Solution is to replace this with the file from n39 for now and wait for n41 to be released, whenever this will be.

Some people are reporting that a build from the most recent code no longer has the bug so whatever caused it has been fixed.

Can confirm, building from the current source is working. I just finished to compile the current source (gen2) and installed it. Seems to be working fine so far. Main reason was to see if the SIP routing bug really has been fixed and if GPS with Google Maps is working without crash (compared to Jacobs version).

Update: GPS Status and Google Maps also crash/reboot with my own compiled version... :)

Can you please clarify, did you try to charge with the phone active after you charged once with the phone off,

and it doesn't shut down now when plugged in and active ?

I would've thought that would've been obvious, considering what he said... I think he's smart enough to know that the phone wouldn't turn off if it's already off...

I upgraded to gen2 yesterday, everthing went fine, tested n40, its not working. But CM7-Gen2 runs almost fine like n39.

After some strugling with some settings and uninstalled some sytem files thats not working. Everithing running ok.

I have some random force close like allways on cm7... Cant wait for n41 release.

Of course, but it sounds a bit strange that a single charging cycle with the phone off

would prevent further shutdowns when charging with the phone active, especially

as I've done this before and it definitely shut' down again next time.

Does the SIP routing work on your build? I thought it should have worked in Jacob's version too. Could you upload yours?

That's exactly what I did.

I know it sounds strange. That's the reason I asked if there was someone who might confirm or disprove my theory. As you state that your phone shut down although you charged it while being inactive before, I might just have gotten lucky or something.

If the phone shuts down, or screen doesn't turn on while charging or removing USB, try plugging it back into the phone? I had this problem randomly on N25, the phone screen wouldn't turn on after / during a charge and looked like it powered off, re-connecting the USB worked and screen turned on.

The new GPS shutdown bug in N40 for Gen2 is a bad showstopper at the moment. Just starting Google Maps or GPS Status will crash the phone after a few seconds on my TFT 5mp Blade. The interesting thing is that some GPS applications are working. For example SportsTracker works fine. The only difference to Google Maps or GPS Status is, that GPS is not immediately activated when starting SportsTracker, you need to start recording a track first.

It looks like a bug in the prebuilt kernel that really needs to be fixed. I am happy to supply logs if somebody wants to dig deeper.
