Guest Simon O Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I should point out that the GPS issues in n40 are affecting most other devices. It seems that some recent code changes have seriously screwed this up.

Guest dibbles Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I have just installed n41 and it installed ok but as I do not have Google Maps installed I do not know if the GPS issues are still there. It works fine with my GPS routing application.
Guest Chris_M Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Here's my GPS experience: Converted to Gen 2 and installed Jacob's makeshift nightly (built between N39 and N40). First time I tried running Google Maps, the phone crashed and rebooted. After rebooting, I tried running Google Maps again, but GPS did not activate automatically. So I exited Google Maps, turned off GPS via the Power Control widget, and turned it back on again. Since then, GPS has worked perfectly. So it looks like after flashing, the software gets confused about the GPS initial state. Once you disable and reenable GPS, it works fine.
Guest Matthew Ferguson Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 GPS Shutdown issue is still present in Nightly 41. Interesting to note: When USB is plugged in it causes a shutdown, not a reboot...
Guest JobSup Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 GPS Shutdown issue is still present in Nightly 41. Interesting to note: When USB is plugged in it causes a shutdown, not a reboot... Hmm, first I thought it was fixed... but Google Maps was just running around 30seconds now with N41, compared to 5 seconds in N40. So definately not fixed. I think the main reason for 41 was the bad installation routine which obviously affected all builds, not only the blade. So GPS definately needs to be fixed. @dibbles: What GPS routing software are you using?
Guest dibbles Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) I am using Sygic mobile maps. I used it on two journeys today and it has been fine for both. Edited April 18, 2011 by dibbles

Guest ThrashMan Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Are the issues solved in Nightly 41? Does the changelog show they should be? :)

Guest Chris_M Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Has anyone else tried disabling and re-enabling GPS? It worked for me......
Guest Matthew Ferguson Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Has anyone else tried disabling and re-enabling GPS? It worked for me...... Come to think of it, since I've done this I haven't seen any reboots.
Guest !Amo! Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Hi! which is the last nightly what is good for the gen1 san francisco? just because the 41 went to boot loop. Thanks!
Guest alex1alex2alex3alex4 Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 which is the last nightly what is good for the gen1 san francisco? n39

Guest hugobosslives Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Victor, can you write on the first post (maybe in your big red letters :)) that the last gen1 nightly is n39 as all these people asking the same question every page is starting to really annoy me..... cheers
Guest !Amo! Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Nightly 39. Thanks everyone! And any chance that we will get new nighlys for the gen1 phones? :) Anybody knows anything? :)
Guest jtc42 Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Thanks everyone! And any chance that we will get new nighlys for the gen1 phones? :) Anybody knows anything? :) *Headdesk* Not officially, no.
Guest paulocostavct Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 they're over dude. if you are Gen1 like me you're out of the fun. The last Gen1 is N39. now it's just for Gen2.
Guest WillDroid Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Would it be stupid of me to think that simply using the windows GEN1 to GEN2 upgrade software would mean us GEN1'ers could use the new nightlys?
Guest pellonet Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Would it be stupid of me to think that simply using the windows GEN1 to GEN2 upgrade software would mean us GEN1'ers could use the new nightlys? No & Yes :)
Guest JobSup Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Has anyone else tried disabling and re-enabling GPS? It worked for me...... Tried that, it makes no difference. Google Maps still crashing after a few seconds
Guest KTamas Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) With the final version I've lost 7% of the battery in one night. Auto-sync is on, maybe that is causing it? Battery stats shows the device waking up several times at night. Edit: looking at the sync stats, the last sync seems to have happened last night. So that shouldn't be it... Battery use shows 42% for cell standby, 24% phone idle, 18% android OS, 13% display. The device has been turned on for at most about 10 minute since I took it off the charger last night.
