Guest supermies123 Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 So N54 doesn't fix GPS? What is this other Kernel people are talking about, that fixes GPS issue? Is there any negative effects on GEN2 if i Install custom Kernel?

Is there any negative effects on GEN2 if i Install custom Kernel? Try this ver3 kernel:- http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...n-a-gen2-phone/ It fixed my GPS reboot, been using it with N42 for 2 days without any negative effects.

How should i install that kernel? I am a Saunalahti user so i probably have to install RIL after updating kernel. But RIL couldn't be installed with Clockwork 3.x or higher...
Guest fradleyp Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) so why don't they just use his kernel? and do I have to install that kernel after I unstall each new nightly? EDIT: Installed new nightly, then istalled new kernel and still getting GPS reboots Edited April 24, 2011 by fradleyp

I am sure if it doesn't work with Clockwork 3.x or higher, there would be a lot of complaints, but I haven't tried it myself.

But RIL couldn't be installed with Clockwork 3.x or higher... CM7 now includes saunalahti gen2 ril libs, so if you're on a gen2 phone you don't need those files. They're not in the kernel but are separate files.
Guest mobiles007 Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 i have GEN 1 i install nightly and after that kk c7 converter that worked for me very good I did the same over my GEN2 but GPS reboots are still here, any other solution for GEN2 users ? :)
Guest dibbles Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) I did the same over my GEN2 but GPS reboots are still here, any other solution for GEN2 users ? :) go back to Gen 1 Sorry :( Ultimately we must wait until one of the developers not only is aware of the GPS issues but is then able to resolve them. Alas, as been noted, no bug report can be made or added to as these are nightlies (one bug report was created and then deleted due to it being a nightly). Until CM7 reaches another "stable" release we can't make a bug report. Maybe someone else has a more immediate solution for you and I know that a downgrade option is not available or wanted for everyone to Gen 1. Ironic really that I get an impression that those with Gen 1 are getting better results on using CM7 at the moment rather than those who have converted their phones to still use it :) Edited April 24, 2011 by dibbles
Guest stephen m Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Have you trying wiping everything (cache, Dalvik cache, data and formatting /system) from clockwork then reinstalling? If you haven't it could be somethings got left from a previous version/ROM thats causing problems. My phone is sorted now. Google it and the suggestion was to perform a factory reset; but also did another full wipe as suggested above. Result being it's now downloading from Market successfully one again. Thanks for your help guys

Is that possible at all and worth doing to get the GPS work for sure? Is there any stable or nighly CM7 build which has a working GPS for GEN2 blades?
Guest Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) was just gonna say gps not rebooting for me,been working fine for several minutes so thought I would say something and what do you know it reboots as I am typing this.lol I think ill just flash K.K's kernal till its sorted, which I can confirm works, was using on N51(on N54 now) edit: I did notice that by disabling use wireless networks and only using gps, made gmaps reboot less often Edited April 24, 2011 by Guest

Is that possible at all and worth doing to get the GPS work for sure? Is there any stable or nighly CM7 build which has a working GPS for GEN2 blades? That is why I had written... Maybe someone else has a more immediate solution for you and I know that a downgrade option is not available or wanted for everyone to Gen 1 I would not recommend it anyway. But someone else might help you if you wish to carry on using this ROM and get a working GPS. What I did is to move over to a SS RLS5 ROM. It is available for GEN 1 and Gen 2 phones and has a working GPS, USB tethering, radio and powering the phone does not cause it to switch off. As I needed a GPS (and so does my wife with her blade) I changed over and find that I'm enjoying the work of LanceH's adaptation of the SS ROM. Until I notice certain fixes in the bug fix logs or there is a stable release where a bug report can be made I will keep with SS, and as it has a working radio I might just keep with it anyway :) Good luck to you :) Edited April 24, 2011 by dibbles
Guest qwertymz Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Trying N54 with KK converter on GEN1. Previously was on CM7Stable, and did not experience GPS issues, only charge/shut-down ones. Will report once I know more. (PS: Hypothetically speaking, can the Gingerbreak lock animation be put into a 2.2 rom?)
Guest okornel Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 My Orange SF by default was GEN1, and I've upgraded it to GEN2. Is it possible to downgrade it to GEN1? Thanks
Guest CaptainSpectacular Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 It's remain possible, see here. You have to downgrade to GEN1 then if your IMEI is broken retore it with the burstlam program.
Guest geegeethatsme Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) My Orange SF by default was GEN1, and I've upgraded it to GEN2. Is it possible to downgrade it to GEN1? Thanks Try the search function. There are several threads on this. It is possible, but convoluted, so why bother? SS (probably the best 2.2 rom available) works well on Gen1 or Gen2, and you're set to try out future CM7 releases if the devs can resolve some continuing irritants to its being a solid day-to-day rom. Thanks Depends on what method you used, if it was that TPT method the answer is yes, when you used the Windows tool to convert to Gen2 - no.
Guest Android.Fan Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Hi Guys. Got a gen1 phone. installed N39 and a full charged battery last only for 7 hours without any use as all (i.e. sleep mode). Is it possible? or this is my bad luck? came back to SSrls5 and it works fine. Are there really severe battery drain issues with CM7? I'm going to try N54 with KK converter. Fingers crossed.
Guest dibbles Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Depends on what method you used, if it was that TPT method the answer is yes, when you used the Windows tool to convert to Gen2 - no. Not correct Alex :) You can downgrade back to GEN 1 from GEN 2 if you have used the Windows method. It is a little convoluted and as elements of risk, but so does flashing to GEN 2. The thread is here... http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-also-the-imei/ read read and READ the entire thread and then ask questions within that thread. Burstlam seems to be excellent at giving help and advice :) Really think long and hard though if you want to try that and what you would expect to gain over what you have already got, I assume a working phone :(
Guest alex1alex2alex3alex4 Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Not correct Alex :) Sorry then :)
