Guest Len Ash Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 DAMN, I need GPS regularly.... Next Problem, I can't get into recovery mode....I can run CM7 but when I choose to go into recovery either through power+volumedown or using reboot or rom manager the SF reboots but stays at the green android and doesn't go into recovery... I have to remove battery to get it working again... Suggestion - if you need certain functions, why not use a ROM (and there are literally dozens) that will perform those functions. Unstead of testing Beta ROMs repeatedly.
Guest dadashi Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 good suggestion, only I can't get into recovery mode to install a new rom, like I said above... any ideas...?
Guest bhf Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Then I went into settings and changed the animation settings to "maxiumum performance" and now I get ~3300 Kbps, so I guess that option may be a contributing factor? Where do I find this particular setting?

Guest qwertymz Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 n54 on Gen 1, still have shut down on charge problem.
Guest ThrashMan Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 I use two different apps. Traffic Monitor and SpeedTest.net Mobile Both results are similar bad. The last five results are as follow 587 kBit 24/04 04:58 pm 606 kBit 23/04 10:58 am 648 kBit 23/04 09:41 pm 213 kBit 22/04 01:27 pm 610 kBit 22/04 11:31 am Mobile Data isn't affected by this at all. I get up to 3500 kBit, almost the maximum what the phone can handle. No complaint there. The last three results were 2987 kBit, 2487 kBit and 2725 kBit If you want to test the speed of the WLAN then do just that and not test the entire ISP infrastructure too. Set up a web server on the LAN and run your own PHP/ASP bandwidth tester, or just copy a file via FTP from a LAN FTP server.
Guest skull_fcuk Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Yeah, i have this very problem also. I am unable to access CW manager, and as such can't change ROM or any other RECOVERY option. The last few times i've accessed it it's been very borked looking, with graphical corruption. I've been trying to get Blade recovery on it, or any update of Clockwork Mod. Ideas guys>?

I can't make heads or tails of this either.... I've tried using CMs own rom manager, I tried Sebs Recovery Manager which doesn't work with CM... I don't understand what happened to my clockwork recovery, it was fine untill I installed CM....now it won't boot into recovery...
Guest bhf Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) I don't understand what happened to my clockwork recovery, it was fine untill I installed CM....now it won't boot into recovery... If you have converted your phone into a Gen2 device, then you need a Gen2 clockwork. You can flash this version recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-blade-g2.img via adb/fastboot or via terminal. You also can refer to this thread. Edited April 24, 2011 by bhf
Guest Grejo Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) The WiFi transfer rates are abysmal. With every Nightly the transfer rates get worse. It started somewhere around N35. Up to N39 the transfer rates were just cut in half and get up to 2800 kBit (at a DSL line with 6000 kBit). Now, with the most recent Nightlies N51 and N54, I only get rates in the mid triple digits up to 650 kBit. That's about a tenth of the DSL Line. Has anyone made similar experiences? Yes, up to and including N35 the download transfer rates are aprox. 950 kBytes. The later versions 250 kBytes and even less. :) I used "Speedtest.net". Edited April 24, 2011 by Grejo

Guest qwertymz Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 on 54 I managed to disable the lock screen, so hitting the unlock switch would bring me back to my homescreen. can this be done in 35? back on this to see if GPS and charge issues are available.
Guest KACE_231 Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 I figured that. And then? There is a slider that shows "animation settings" change that to maxiumum performance. Im using SpeedTest app from the marketl.

Ok, I hit settings, then at the bottom of the settings page is About phone. There is no slider anywhere. Please, can you be more specific to what setting page you refer?

So that regular developers have a chance to fix the issues. To do that, someone has to report those bugs. To do that, someone has to install even the most bug infested nightly. Quite simple, really. It's not that bad, btw. The GPS issue is nonexistent with k_k's alternative kernel, the charging bug has a workaround, wifi won't reconnect to any custom ROM I have used (there's blade wifi fix), if this is any consolation.

I used the link in the forum and the terminal to flash the newest clockwork and it's working for the time being again... Does this happen often in CM? I'm impressed with new CM rom except of course the GPS problem...I tried one of the cm nighties a month ago and I remember GPS was working, if it gets fixed I'm going to use it...
Guest bhf Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) Actually, this has nothing to do with CM7. It's a side effect of your Gen2 conversion. Re: GPS you might wanna try k_ks alternative kernel via either v3a converter or CM7 universal converter, i'm not sure. This GPS bug is only existent in the stock kernel, afaik. I am still on Gen1 with the converter, but the GPS bug never occurred in any nightly I used. They were N41, N51 and since today N54. EDIT: I updated to Gen2 and with N55 GPS is fixed, wifi transfer rates improved up to 4.5 Mbit, charging bug should be fixed fixed (I haven't tested it yet, though). N55 on Gen2 is probably the best CM7 since RC4. Edited April 25, 2011 by bhf

I was referring to those "more recent" users who seem to have a fixation that CM7 is some kind of Nirvana in ROM terms. It certainly isn't, as of now or the foreseeable future. If you have a Netgear router, then WiFi reconnects will be an issue. If you don't, then it isn't. I have "shipped" many many Blade's with various 2.2 ROMs (FLB/MCR/JJ/SS plus my own specials) and not one needed any WiFi frigs, and still don't. Only one "client" had an issue, and that was the Sh1tgear router. Now resolved. CM7 in any form has never had a working WiFi solution per se. Edited April 24, 2011 by Len Ash

CM7 benefits outweigh the "cons" for some people, simply put can any 2.2 match the app performance of CM? the extra features? theme Chooser? copy n paste? little things add up In the end it's really down to user preference if they want to flash this rom.
Guest suriya83 Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) yay! looks like there will be some important fixes in the next nightly ;-) P.S. do we have qualcom msm7227? Edited April 24, 2011 by suriya83
