Guest LostEmperor Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Call your cell phone company and request the PUK code for your phone, you will need to have your sim card out so you can rattle off the numbers on it. Go to your emergency dialer and dial: **05*PUK CODE*NEWSIMPASS*NEWSIMPASSAGAIN# Where NEWSIMPASS is whatever you want the sim pass to be, between 4 and 8 numbers (I think). Your sim card is now unlocked. Hi mate, Nothing to do with my carrier, this was an unlocked phone from the factory, why would I want to pay for something I have already paid for, and the phone is locked to an unknown network, well, unknown to me as it was part of the rom. Cheers
Guest jayziac Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Try pushing a 4.00x.xx_EMEA_GENxx ROM that has been modified to work on 256MB A1 instead of the one posted above, since those by default work only on 512MB liquid E's.

Cheers Alright, don't listen to me. :) the sim lock has nothing to do with your phone being unlocked from the factory, all that means is that you can use any sim card you want in the phone. The SIM card your carrier gave you is _locked_, not your phone, according to your post. Your carrier shouldn't charge you for this information, and they should have it readily available. It took me all of about 60 seconds to complete the phonecall with my carrier. In fact, you don't need to be having any problems to request your PUK code, if you want it you just call them and ask for it.

Mate, no offence but I used to work for Movistar and Vodafone in Spain, I created 2 of their customer services departments, I don't listen to the kind of cods-wallop you are chucking at me. Jesus, get it into that sarky head of yours, I have tried 4 different SIM cards from 4 different providers, you are telling me that the 4 have blocked their corresponding SIMs, get a life, I have the SIM PIN, this is a NETWROK PIN!!! Read the blumin thread before giving out your 2 cents and please make sure you know what the hell you are talking about first!!! Also, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!! stick it where your wit doesn't shine! Hence your pseudo name!! Edited April 22, 2011 by LostEmperor

Hi mate, I have tried just about every ROM that is on the market, I have even tried to take it back to 1.6 and update from there, but there's something that has gone wrong along the way. Thanks for the help all the same but I have had to put it on ebay as a faulty item, I have had just about enough now and it breaks my heart cos I love the phone. Thanks to all that have tried to help, here's the link to ebay if anybody's interested: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...T#ht_500wt_1156 Cheers all!
Guest LostEmperor Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Unless someone knows of a way I can find out what network it is now locked to...????

So you're not even going to try the PUK code, and you're going to talk s*** to me for suggesting it? I guess it will be someone's lucky day when the snag that phone on ebay, grab a sim card and the puk code for it and unlock the phone, just like I suggested. s***, let me know how much you want for it and I'll buy it from you. And I'm not sure why you're trying to suggest that your experience as a CSR lacky has anything to do with understanding how a GSM phone works, but apparently the powerpoint presentations at Movistar and Vodaphone orientation didnt mention that a PUK code will unlock more than just your SIM. But don't listen to me, you've spent more time crying in this thread than it would have taken for you to get a PUK for one of your 300 sim cards. I'm sorry I stopped lurking to try and help you.
Guest Harness Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Too bad no shipping to Canada. Totally would have jumped on it.

Yet another load-full to put on the back of a truck!! Easy reverse manipulation to get me thinking that you actually know something when all you do is "blah, blah, blah, something, something, something, cods wallop..." sorry mate, some of us have brains and how the hell, after I have used the phone for 8 months, and, after updating the ROM, it has blocked all my SIM cards? What, shall I just go now and call all the carriers in the world just in case they will block my phone? get a life pal, I think you'd be a great customer services agent as you'd certainly have clients so peeved at the fact that you now jack about phones and, well, just jack about anything from what I can see. Condescension is your key, I like the little tries but mate, read a book, look on the internet, but please stop babbling. Your name Mr Richard Head by any chance, cos they seem to get a lot of your relatives on the customer services line as they seem to know jack about how to turn on the bumming microwave, let alone program a phone!
Guest LostEmperor Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Too bad no shipping to Canada. Totally would have jumped on it. Hi mate, If you know something I don't, why not share, it seems this is a problem that is fixable yet you would jump on buying a bricked phone, doesn't make sense to me. Why do I suddenly get the sensation I am being fobbed???
Guest fyzz08 Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 If you want I can give you 20£ + shipment to Italy just to see what you've done to it. Can't bid cause it's locked to UK.
Guest Stark Wong Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 As well as some of us know, there may be a flaw in Acer's Radio ROM implementation causing it to happen. It is known that it doesn't work for flashing non-carrier ROM to remove SIM lock, however flashing carrier ROM over non-carrier device triggers the SIM lock to active regardless what the SIM unlock code is, that's what happens here. As there is actually no (or invalid) SIM unlock code, there is no known way to remove it (even flashing custom QCN doesn't restore it).
Guest LostEmperor Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 Hi, Has anyone come up with a solution to this as yet? I still have the phone and I would like it to work for me. Please help me anyone that knows anything about these phones. Cheers
