Can we expect "the norwegian fix" to be implemented in FR19?

Yes, possibly not for the first release as i'm going to do the Norwegian fix differently this time.

Hi Paul,

com.android.phone crashes when I want to get Phone-Info in settings.

Got the same Problem on RC1.

I came from Beta2 and wiped (Dalvik-)Cache, no Full-Wipe

EDIT:

Thanks

Paul, i already use fr19 beta 5. why my baseband still 20110405 ?

why not change to 0606 ?

Baseband is not included in the ROM. It has to be flashed seperately.

You have to flash it using SmartFlash, with new (this) ROM you get only new RIL.

Anybody else has problems with bluetooth? Don't know if it worked before, but now (RC1) I can't recieve files. I have paired my phone and mac, but when I try to send a file from computer to the phone I get an error. Didn't try the opposite way...

Settings -> About Phone works fine after installing new settings.apk :)

It is based on new ROM, there wasn't just new baseband and RIL.

Baseband is completely seperate. So if you want the new baseband, install it from the baseband post in the forum (remember it wipes your device).

It's recommended to use same RIL and baseband version so I would say yes. However, if it works fine with your "old" baseband it is not necessary.

Probably being a numpty, but do I just install this through the app manager, or do I need to copy it into /system/apps?

Copy into /system/app as Settings.apk.

Thanks :) - in fact I was lazy, and dumped it into the ROM zip, and reflashed - also means I don't have to cook a new ROM if I want to reflash with RC1.

Copy into /system/app as Settings.apk.

Im coming from FR18 and with Baseband 1035.21_20110405. So, I guess Iam in EXT4.

The steps should be:

1. bake the rom, and put it in external SD Card.

2. Download the BacktoEXT3 zip and put it in external SD Card

3. Download the new baseband and install it through smartflash tool.

4. Reboot in recovery and install the BackToEXT3 zip

5. Without reboot again install the new rom FR19RC1

Its correct or Im missing something?

Thank you!

Spot on - that's exactly what I did :). Just remember to back up your internal SD card B) - I've never had it wiped during a baseband upgrade, but it could be.

Apprieciate that whilst Paul waits for the kernel source this is an ext3 ROM...

I've had a quick read through here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext4

Wondering if anyone can translate for me? - i.e what are the main advantages of an ext4 rom vs ext3 ... I'm debating whether to wait for an FRXX - EXT4 based ROM, or go ahead with 19RC1

I've not read it, but should you wait? FR19 RC1 is faster and more fluid than FR18. It doesn't do as well on benchmarks, but I don't care about benchmarks - I'm just interested in how my phone feels and performs in the real world.

Edit: I have now read it, and I can see why ext4 will provide speed improvements over ext3, but I don't know how perceptible those improvements are, and as I said above, FR19 performs better in the real world, which is all I care about
