No you are not alone with R4-kernel.

Ok i have now been testing pretty much everything now with Fr8 and the only issues i have is the GPS and the duplicate and only partially working APN's (no MMS). GPS does a bad job of getting a fix and those APN's are uneditable. Is there away to clear the APN's or make them editable? In Finland you often need to edit the APN's to make them work correctly.

try remove unwanted apk, u should get at least 3k for fr8

I used the Prebake download. No worries. I'm happy with it so far (stock) bloathed as it is :D

That's correct, see the changelog - I rolled back the kernel.

Ok i got the APN's deleted with APN Backup & Restore app and manually added the correct ones and now everything works. I get a GPS fix in few secs. Woohoo!

Thanks Paul again for making the X2 awesome :D

i just flashed fr8.

Notification bar is black, and so is the time, so i can barely read it.

toggle buttons are missing in Notification as well (i chose to keep them in the kitchen)

Hope these issues get fixed soon.

besides the issues mentioned, it seems to work fine so far.

Hmmm, you have some strange hybrid. Which options did you select in the kitchen? Did you select "Disable 'Battery Full' Popup (Vanilla Style ROM)" instead of the stock one?

@paul

I'm pretty sure I choose the vanilla option for not showing the fully charged screen, but when waking up this moning it was still there. So not really sure but it seems like it's not working properly.

For all with GPS Lock Problems:

There is a fix for it, to make it faster.

Go to your APN Settings

Search your active APN settings and open it

scroll down to: APN-Type

and type: default,supl

Save the settings and go out.

Ready

It happened to me in one of the backed roms i made, i think it was the "Disable 'battery Full' Popup (Vanilla Style ROM)" on top of the LG theme"

Got the same issue here. i thought it was just me :D

It is a very gentle flicker that happens in a room with a good natural light.

I think the sensor is too sensitive.

Can't say I've notices any flickering but the sensor is a bit too triggerhappy. It needs to filter the values better and adjust based on averages instead of just jumping on the new value almost instantly.

FWIW; CyanogenMod did a great job improving the sensor code for the Nexus One, so there might be something to catch inspiration from.

Except for the auto brightness issue for me the device is working grate. i even tested Listening to music via BT while playing Assasin's Creed via HDMI on my 42

inch LCD. This device can take allot !

I also have been testing the gps with Google Nvigation app and the Sygic Aura Drive, it works fantastic.

After Paul made the final touch on it i am very happy with it as it is.

I might want to bake a diffrent ver with less LG apps, but other than that there are no issues.

Thank you.

Hows the battery life on your average usage?

Hows the battery life on your average usage?

The phone was connected to the charger at night .I am playing music non stop via BT to my stereo headset since 10am today and while doing that i was testing some 3d gaming, gps and my email on gmail and work is beeing checked every 15 min plus i have the weather widget that goes online, the wifi is on and the UMTS as well.

It is 15:18 now and since 10am the battery is on 67%

I was using the phone extensively since 10 am.

I know for fact that if you use any kind of task killer/manager it will drink up your juice since the device isn't really resting as a result of thees kind of apps monitoring your apps all the time.

Edit:

forgot to mention that i was using HDMI as well to play for 20 min on my lcd.

Hope it helps

Albert.

Paul,

I have seen that the phone totally slows down, when the RAM goes under 80 MB (or so)

Is it possible to make it happens not to use the whole RAM? Or is there an chance to live without these slowdowns?

It happens most after Browser usage.

Wow, that is awesome.

I dont use any task killer/manager, just juice defender and battery monitor widget.

Just notice that battery drop 1% every 1~2hours (sometime 3 hours) during idle. I don't have any push going on as well.

Hmm, I wonder how can I really test the device battery life.

Time to give it a full test try :D

Btw, how's your phone network reception? Mine is fluctuating between 2~4 bars (in percentage is around 25%~70%), wondering does this drain the battery life??

Thanks for the info.

I wouldn't say this is my experience... I typically have <80MB (normally 40-50MB) and don't notice a difference.

When it's down at ~20MB though I certainly do notice a difference.

A 'Fr9 preview' option is now available in the Fr8 kitchen. The full changelog for the option is in post 3 of this topic. This is in test mode as it's using a new 2.6.32.36 based kernel patched from the official P990 source release. Please post feedback but do NOT repost / repack / release images based on this option at the moment!

Cheers,

P

Low reception on 3G/4G networks will make the phone work harder to search for a stronger signal. if you really want to test that restrict your phone to 2g network then see if it still drops that fast. just so you know it is possible that there are some apps that run in the background, wakeup the device and do all kinds of things such as cache new banners for the free apps and so on.

Thanks for your reply.

It's very strange. So my phone slows down, too, when I install an app or delete an app. It takes some minutes to get the normal response again.

And yours?
