Low reception on 3G/4G networks will make the phone work harder to search for a stronger signal. if you really want to test that restrict your phone to 2g network then see if it still drops that fast. just so you know it is possible that there are some apps that run in the background, wakeup the device and do all kinds of things such as cache new banners for the free apps and so on.

Will give that a shot!!

Thanks!

I wouldn't say this is my experience... I typically have <80MB (normally 40-50MB) and don't notice a difference.

When it's down at ~20MB though I certainly do notice a difference.

Same here.

The problem is this device has only 512mb and more than half goes to the os(in stock).

I wish there was a way to manage the Ram more efficiently than what the android 2.2 can handle.

Yes, I wish that, too. Hoping that there is a workaround in the future for this.

Does anyone know, what we can do? An app what frees up the ram more efficient or anything like this?

Good! R9 Testing now! =) what are the difference between lg and your kernel? init.d support means that we can use linux daemons like sshd?

Posted

init.d means you can get stuff to run at startup via scripts.

My kernel is patched to .36 and has additional options selected.

I have FR6 installed. I want to update to FR9, but what do i need to cook now?

- Core only (or do i need to include some other things ? and put back apps with titanium?

- Or cook the exact same rom as i did when baking FR6?

Sorry for the Noob question:P

Edit: Paul how could i forget to thank you for your great work! Offcourse i bought the addfree account!

Would be cool if there was a way to save the selections you make in the kitchen.... i can never remember what i cooked last time.

Haha, yeah, that's coming in the next kitchen release! :D

Thanks for your reply.

It's very strange. So my phone slows down, too, when I install an app or delete an app. It takes some minutes to get the normal response again.

And yours?

I did have that problem, it was really bad... anything that used the package manager slowed down the phone (literally stalled it) but I've not had that problem (apparently) since Paul released the pre-dexopt fix... after that I don't have these same slowdowns.

So, I'm running:

Fr7, including pre-dexopt and SQLite patches

With either the R2 rollback kernel (now included in Fr8) or the OC kernel I do not have the problem any more

At the moment I'm running the ocuv.v1 2.6.32.9 kernel @ 1200 / 1050 with no problems.

With the rate you make new releases i think we spend about as much time making selections in the kitchen as you do developing :-)

This time i just printed the selections :-)

Any good chef would write down the recipe when he finally cooks the perfect meal. :-)

Getting 3 freezes today and battery is not good with Fr8 used 65% with gtalk and a couple of calls in 5 hours, also sometimes the screen does not respond properly and message sound stutters, tried wipe with no success.

Exactly that happens to me on 3/4 of all messages i receive.

Had it on stock rom, FR6 and in current FR9.

Is there a way to fix this? It's just annoying:( As if a 1ghz dual core phone can not play a sound correctly? :D

Just got top score with Quadrant: 3178 with FR9...!

Just flashed Fr8(Fr9 preview) with test kernel, noticed that the mobile network is on 3G can't get connected to H.

Anyone facing the same problem?

Thanks.

H here!

Cool, might just have to flash again and see how it goes, any possibility that could be related to baseband version(stock version)?

Thanks Paul.

More likely something temporarily odd on the cell in your area...

No worries, tested with another phone, also shows 3G only. Must be something wrong either with carrier or the nearby tower :D

Thanks Paul.

Hi Paul,

With Pre-Fr9 and the new baseband updated(1035.21_20110315), I am able to get H, instead of before 3G.

Could it be the conflict between the new kernel and the old baseband? I am just guessing. :D
