Paul, It seems like when the phone is in Idle,WiFi is always on therefore might cause the battery draining issue that some people experience here.

When the device is waking up after the unlock screen the wifi icon looks like it is connecting but when I logged in to my Router and reviewed the logs while the phone is waking up, there is no new handshake there(i am trying to Wireshark now to see if i am correct 100%).

The LG is in Idle after a full wipe with no apps installed .

Can someone Verify ?

That's an android setting. Go to Wifi-settings, menu-button, advanced and you can disable that.

The kernel doesn't allow you to. You can get some custom kernels on XDA if you want.

Paul, could you please update your kernel-sources on GitHub to make an OC/UV version of your FR15 kernel possible?

Thank you

You need a different kernel that will allow you OC.

look at this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1020730

Be very careful if you don't know what you are doing you can destroy your phone.

I tested this. There is a hand shake bwtween my O2x and my router so it's not connected all the time.

Its my E2000 that had the problem  i restarted it and then everything showed up in the logs.

And there is a handshake there as well in wireshark.

What the hell takes so much juice then ?

It was better in Fr12 for me.

I think you misunderstood me there. I meant that I have not had huge battery drain (charger dropped from 100% to 86% in 12 hours, which I think is pretty good) and that I am pretty pleased with the battery life I'm getting.

I think the constant mobile data (3G/H) has the greatest negative impact on battery life. I've set JuiceDefender to disable 3G/H every time the I turn of the screen or run apps I don't need data for. I've noticed this has greatly enhanced battery life on my device.

thats indeed pretty good - i left my house at 1pm and now, 4pm over here in germany, i am down to 89% without any calls, txt etc! wlan, gps, auto sync is off!

standby needed 50% and the inactive phone 48%, the display sucked 2% (checked time and got 2 mails which i read - did nothing else....)

Had handshake in wireshark as well.

However I need to recharge at least 2 times a day, not fun since my iphone could manage at least 48h on one charge (same usage).

With stock battery is ok so my guess is that stock priorities battery life on the cost of... well everything else... Had same drain on all fr's btw..

I don't think that disabling 3G connenection to save a battery it's a reasonable solution to a huge battery drain issue. Come on...we r using a smartphone that should be always connected and should give at least 12/15 life hours with a moderate usage. I think that only Paul can solve our problem. BTW with fr15 I had 5/6 hours of battery life. This morning I reverted back to fr13 (I wiped before and I made a battery calibration after) and after 7 hours I had 40% of battery life. It's better but always not such a good performance. As I said to Paul I am out for work and I should have needed a better battery performance.

Yes, you are right: disabling 3G is not a good solution if you really need to be always connected but since on this phone the connectivity seems to turn the device in a battery hog, the only viable solutions are either a spare battery or a connection on demand! By the way, I really would like to see a solution for this issue but to be honest I don't think it's likely.

Paul, is it possible to modify something in the core files to prevent the phone from continuosly switching between 3G and HSDPA? Right now, whenever I am connected, it keeps flashing "3G" and "H" if some data is beeing transmitted. Maybe a solution to stabilize this behaviour does really exist?

okay, thats not funny anymore - down to 80% from 100% in 4 hours! only standby, no autosync (only mail every h, recived 8 mails in 4h which i read but did not answered), wlan, bt, gps off, only stand by!

i will switch back to stock rom for now till a new version is out

I'll tell you what - battery discussions get boring really quick.

This is not to diminish the pain you're experiencing but really, it's too much info for everybody else.

The *ONLY* way to baseline your ROM's battery usage is to full wipe, install a ROM, do *NOT* set up a Google account, bump charge it to 100%, reset the battery stats and then leave it with the screen on, doing noting until it discharges.

No apps.

That will take a day or two (and you can't use your phone during this time).

Describing your relative performance, one day to the next or one rom to the next is useless, for you, me and Paul. Unless *everybody* is affected it's unlikely to be a rom issue - or one really worth any attention.

This is a harsh reality sorry.

I could put it another way - Fr15 hasn't affected my battery life at all - so how can it be the rom?

WPA2 in wpa_supplicant seems to be broken.

I replaced /system/wpa_supplicant with a patched one that I got from the web, and it worked in FR13.

Now I'm on FR15, and that wpa_supplicant crashes WiFi.

Maybe kernel is too different from FR13 ?

The bug report that I found is at http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=8804

I'm just curious if paul can include this patch.

Fair point.

Anyway, I am not complaining about a ROM issue. This is a phone one!

Even on stock, the switching between 3G and H has always been present and maybe - maybe - fixing that could improve battery life. Isn't improving the whole phone experience the entire point of custom ROMs? This is not to blame anyone here, I must add: it's all LG fault. I don't even know if a custom ROM can do anything at all about radio configuration, I wouldn't call me exactly an expert (this is my first android phone)!

FWIW, I have very good battery life on Fr15, I do cycle the battery right down and charge it fully after flashing...

Ok, I'm will admit I have not read all 97 pages. I read the first 5, and then from 60-97 and have not seen anything about this. I've also read about the O2x/G2x baseband compatibility issues. I just trying to figure out if the online kitchen bakes can be used on the G2x. I just renewed my subscription which is no biggie has I still have my N1 and wifes Ns. I was just hoping to bake a rom for my G2x also. If anyone can answer I would greatly appreciate it.

No sorry.

I think there's a sticky for G2x owners.

hm, i think the battery issue could be hardware related... i had 2 O2X for a couple of days cuz i wanted to returne mine because of the display bleeding.....

i dont remember exactly and i did not paied attention too much but i think the other unit had a better battery life.....

i am not sure thought - probably gonna buy a new battery to look if it makes any difference and return it if there is no difference....

Hello hope this question shows up in the right place.

Just recently paid for modaco kitchen access and will never regret it, great piece of software thanks paul!!

The only thing missing, at least for me, is a fix so the wifi doesn't disconnect all the time. I have a hidden SSID, known issue I guess ().

When the wifi disconnects all I do is goto settings and click on wireless setting, doing this issues a new scan and the wifi reconnects almost instantly. I have to do this pretty often, hence the post. Can this be patched? My wife has a blade with gingerbread, she never has this issue.

Cheers.

I'm using FR15 and it's running good. But today my phone just switched off, after playing a Youtube video via DolphinHD. Had to take out the battery to restart.

i dont know if this will help, but if its a bug, then it might of already been fixed in fr15? try updating to the latest rom, then report back.
