Guest Paul Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 EEwww is all I can say to that. Thankfully I found out that there is a patch to that so I can get it at least in a better state . But the true way "I Want It" would be to merge both Internal SD and Internal Storage into one, which would also mean that External SD would be the primary SD. And all that without loosing any storage :). But I figure doing that would require a full repartitioning of the phone as well as a possible rewrite of the phones software. That would be quite cool... LVM would allow this, but bad things would happen if you removed the microSD and AFAIK, nobody has looked at implementing LVM on Android (yet). P
Guest gaeng4665 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 I could add that, it would quite seriously screw up though it you changed from one to the other without wiping... P Hehe i know... But if one has a nandroid backup of fr15, there should be no screwing up as long as the right sdcard gets mounted as primary one for my app-data... Right? The thing is, i like to play with my phone too much, so there is switching between your rom and cm7 and of now i always have to copy over the relevant app-data from my external to internal (for fr15) and internal to external (for cm7). Personally i prefer the mounts as they are in cm7, but i know a lot of people don't. That is why i'm asking for that kitchen option. And i don't know how to do it myself:(. So what do you think? I'd appreciate it a lot (others may too:)). THX Stefan
Guest Paul Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Probably not immeditely for Fr16, but later, you might have twisted my arm. Would be weird to have the internal sd on /sdcard/_ExternalSD tho no (which would be required for camera app to be able to correctly switch between the two etc.)? P

Guest Trym Hansen Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Probably not immeditely for Fr16, but later, you might have twisted my arm. :P Would be weird to have the internal sd on /sdcard/_ExternalSD tho no (which would be required for camera app to be able to correctly switch between the two etc.)? P Definitely. Just let me add my two cents: I think the current stock/mcr setup is the way to go, installing apps on the external card is bad due to 1) losing apps installed on SD when switching cards (movies on separate cards for travelling for example), and 2) "Internal SD-card" is about twice as as fast as a class 10 card. I think it'd be better to put pressure on CM-devs to change *their* mounting-scheme to conform to the "standard" LG-scheme. Having the option in the kitchen (for now) would be nice, but it'd be more of a hack than a good design-decision. ::Trym
Guest Trym Hansen Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) Tough one as I don't see this issue. I'll look into it tho. P I get this on stock as well (no wifi auto-reconnect), but only on networks with multiple access points using the same SSID. Normal behaviour should be to roam freely between them, picking the one with the strongest signal, but the phone just gets confused and doesn't connect. ::Trym Edited May 12, 2011 by Trym Hansen

P Yes if you want it perfect. But i think there is no requirement of the _ExternalSD on /sdcard/_ExternalSD. Only on /mnt/emmc/_ExternalSD... If you would keep the camera app to store the pictures on the internal that's fine. Anyway they just need to be stored somewhere, doesn't really matter where media (pics, videos, music) is stored. The Gallery and the music app should search both automatically. My suggestion would be to make an "expert option" in the kitchen and by default it is off, meaning the original mounting points are used... Just saying it'd be very cool to have that option. And i'm happily willing to test the files needed for changing the mounting points... And it would sort out the mess with CWM recovery/rom manager downloading files onto the internal sdcard (the actual recovery image for example) and storing the backups on the external sdcard.... Guest Paul Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 That IS a ROM Manager bug though in fairness... P
Guest gaeng4665 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 That IS a ROM Manager bug though in fairness... P Yes i know, did not wanna put that as a bug of any fr-rom. I know it is a known bug of rom manager and i'm not expecting this to be fixed any time soon or ever...
Guest ezangrando Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Ready for r16 =), Paul for the GRxx Modaco are you waiting the lg release or you have some idea on how to get working the T-Mobile one on the 2x?
Guest Paul Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Fr16 is now in the kitchen! A prebake will follow in due course (Fr16 is still being prepared). There are two main focuses on this release - the first is attempting to improve battery life / fix the Dialer excessive battery usage problem, the second is app component updates (see below). The kitchen also includes an option to wipe battery stats on install if you are flashing with 100% battery. In addition, MoDaCo Custom Kernel reaches r11 with some more minor performance improvements. Finally, MarketAccess is now an option in the kitchen... but not primarily due to it's Market spoofing function. Rather, I have been running my 2X with Froyo A2SD set to install all apps to 'internal' rather than SD card... this makes sense since we have lots of internal memory that is faster than SD. Market Access allows you to set 'internal' as default storage, and you can use 'AppToSD' to move apps that are already on SD onboard. Probably worth doing... It also means you don't lose a ton of apps if you swap your SD out. :) Enjoy! P Changelog 12 May Fr16 (WIP)MCK updated to r11 - more minor performance improvementsUpdates to try and improve battery usage (particularly around Dialer usage)Updated apps - Amazon Appstore, Market, Maps, Google Music, SlideMe Market, Titanium Backup Added option to wipe battery stats on installAdded MarketAccess application (see in topic for more details)
Guest gin0v4 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 ty paul, will wait for the prebake on monday

Guest ezangrando Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 everything work, the ui is smoother than ever expecially with live wallpapers ( i'm using gingerbread launcer), now let's see if battery life is better! Good work! a non r16 related question, i've found that camera app on CM7 is a lot smoother than lg one on MCR, is there a reason to not switch to that one?
Guest batfed Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Hi Paul Would it be possible to make changes to the video in 2x optimus? For example, increasing the sampling to 48kHz audio video bitrate and 128kb / s? Changing the format from 3gp to mp4 Increase from 24 to 30 fps in full HD?

For example, increasing the sampling to 48kHz audio video bitrate and 128kb / s? Changing the format from 3gp to mp4 Increase from 24 to 30 fps in full HD? i think thats chip based - it just cannot handle 1080p recording @ 30fps
Guest LevelOne Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 The Tegra 2 chipset is brilliant in terms of hardware specifications and i don't think it hits the ceiling at just 24fps. However, i am not a dev, so i cannot say for sure what is limiting the video recording. It would be wonderful if we were able to up the ante, both in terms of fps and bitrate but we can only dream. Back on track, never really had any problems with the FR15 (battery lasted for 2 days with medium usage) but i just cooked myself a warm FR16 which -so far- is really nice, stable and fast. Once again Paul, THANK YOU for making the 2X a joy. One question only: In my bake i have included the Fonts package. Is there a way of installing another .ttf in that app? Is it as simple as copying and pasting a .ttf in a folder, or what?

Which it will cause the Settings.apk force close when connecting to a new wifi Access Point. After I decompile the Settings.apk , the mentioned "arrays.xml" file is actually sitting at "\res\values-zh-rTW\arrays.xml" under <string-array name="wifi_status_with_ssid">, when I compare that value with any other languages.. the third item "%2$s" should be "%1$s" instead ! I tried to fix that on my own but I fail to recompile the settings.apk again... using APKtool.. Would you mind to replace the corrected arrays.xml file in Settings.apk for me ? Attached the xml file which I corrected the mentioned typing mistake.. All I did is just correct the %2 into %1, Thank you for your time.arrays.xml Edited May 13, 2011 by Squide
Guest ralli1300 Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Hi Paul, have you looked into it ? I think the bluetooth support in Fr15 is buggy. First connect to a Nissan-Connect-System after booting of LGOS is ok but always without access to phone-book or to call-lists. After the LGOS is disconnected and bluetooth is made off and on no connect is possible any more. With stock-ROM there are no problems so I think it's a bug in the MoDaCo-Custom-Kernel.
