Problems updating to fastboot rom - please help

Hi everybody

I'm running 2.1 and really want to upgrade to the latest Swiftdroid build

But before I do that (I think?!?!) I have to flash a fastboot rom (please correct me if I'm wrong)

So I've followed the instructions in the GT540 reference thread and the first part of the 2.2 update thread (installing the fastboot rom):

But the KDZ updater keeps giving me errors. Win7 gives me "file extract error" and win xp gives me a runtime error. Using the euro open + fastboot rom gives some kind of "Upgrade Error" (WParam:100 LParam:502)

It seems to me that you have chosen the type to be CDMA. Choose 3GQCT instead.

Start the phone in download mode this way turning it off and then hold the Vol Down + Power. Afterwards Run KDZ updater as administrator. Choose 3GQCT and Emergency mode.

Try re-downloading the Open Europe + Fastboot ROM. It usually works fine.

Had a similar problem - I got "Upgrade Error2 - Error Code : 502" when trying to update from 2.1

The solution for me was *not* to choose and connect usb connection "to copy files to/from my computer" - I just plugged the usb cable in and started the KDZ_FW_UPD programme (right clicked and ran as administrator) - then it worked :-)
