Guest Azurren Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I can access my online account now and it looks like you CAN remove the bolt on. It treats the tariff as £10.50 and there is an option to remove the bolt-on. Uuugh.. Do I really need a Desire S? Damn I hate being caught in limbo :) Thanks though

Guest Azurren Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Just seen this: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/dell-strea...-instore/925528 I've said it so many times.. I want a tablet-phone as I hardly ever make calls No Desire S for me :) No risk, no contract, no cash-back, no cancelling bolt-ons Its not the same thing though so it is a bit off topic

Doesn't seem worth the money in this day and age.

(That extra little kick the desire S has isn't going to allow it to run dual core apps) And FYI for some reason the Streak scores higher than the desire s in quadrant (All the results I've seen). Its a gingerbread issue apparently :) Edited April 25, 2011 by Azurren

However, I already have an iPad and the Streak is just a bit too big to use as a day to day phone.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 A great phone for those who don't really want to mod their android but still want to try it. Unfortuneately the price would have to be bumped up cause I can tell you the "youths of this generation" use MUCH more than 250 texts a month.
Guest stylezuk Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Shame it's with O2 and such a long contract especially considering there data allowance. Will be giving my Blade to the gf next week and getting a Desire-Z unbranded sim free £300 The Blade is a good "Cheap" device but the build quality and components are also "Cheap" have had fun but time to get back to decent devices.

But the point of the offer is NOT the long contract or the fact it is O2. The price is good even if you dump the SIM and get the phone unlocked for free from O2. Apparently the only O2 branding is on the startup screen and I have no issue with that. Personally I hope to get a good phone for £160-£170 but the added bonus is to let my niece use the SIM card for texting and minimal calls, I get £5 off my O2 broadband (the best I have had with unlimited downloads) bill every month for 24 months. EDIT : Someone on XDA got one from O2 and it came SIM free. No branding. Maybe the others will come that way too. In any case you get 2 weeks to return it if you are not happy. Guest flash2004 Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 will this create an exodus similar to pulse --> SF ? ( I was among the early ones...) Just ordered the desire S today.. so lets see :)
Guest Searcher2 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I doubt there will be an exodus as it was only a time-limited offer. It finished last night. The phone is now £149.99 instead of free on the same tariff. I think that indicates how decent the offer was.

Guest isambard Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 nice offer would be tempted if i didn't already have 2 blades and a desire z and a galaxy tab :) damn. the blade started out cheap, but dragged me into the android world... still think the original £70 blade we had here in switzerland was the best deal ever. they now made it £100 with a bigger mandatory top up.
Guest agreenjesus Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 It was a bargain but is it a major upgrade from the blade? If it had a larger screen & dual core I'd have done it but in all honesty I'm happy with the blade.
Guest supertwisted Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Well received mine earlier today, though only had limited time to play with it. So far I'm impressed, it is very quick and makes the Blade feel sluggish by comparison. Build quality is very nice, feels like a premium product (whatever that means these days) and the screen is remarkably good, bright, clear and plenty of contrast. I shant miss the OLED. HTC Sense is nice, but far from amazing, not sure it's worthy of the hype though it works well and is slick. Imagine it would impress someone who wasn't into modifying their phone and had only used stock Android before seeing it. No O2 branding on it at all, not even the boot logo, just stock HTC boot screen. That said it does come with a fairly large roster of manufacturer apps that I have no desire (ignore the pun) to have on there. That said, plenty of free storage available on this thing so I'll live. Regarding wifi, I've tried wrapping my hand around the whole top of the phone, signal doesn't so much as drop one bar. So can only assume whatever issue the review models had has been fixed. All in all, with the quidco and cheap tarriff, plus the sale of my Blade, I'm very happy with my upgrade.
Guest Fou-lu Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 what? £150 plus contract for a recycled desire? small difference, no dual core? HTC becoming like Nokia with there products, definitely worth that free deal though, lucky people :)
