Yes it's safe.

Nightlies can be downloaded and installed manually by choosing install zip from sd card. Which is the way you'd have to do any rom that isn't Cm7 anyway. :)

You would have to do your own backup, wiping and installation of gapps as you noted earlier though.

Rom Manager Premium is worth the cost for the convenience if you decide you like CM7 enough to keep it regularly up to date. you pretty much just press 1 button and ok a couple of times to update CM7 each morning.

Thanks for your assistance, i think i'll go ahead and install CM7 (stable) tonight, if anythign goes wrong ill just come back to this post
