hi when i flash this kernel ontop of corvus5 rom i loose my boot image any ideas

Read second line of my signature.

Corvus first thanks for the new Kernel seems smooth and love having the xpad built in, also think it was great you fixed the light that was really a non issue.

After running for a day or so I have only had 1 lock up it was of the stock browser strangely when I restarted after I had a system not responding force close wait during the flashing Corvus5 pulsing boot screen and I couldn't do anything had to power off and power up twice before it booted no problem.

Anyway I post as I am seeing an unexpected side effect. I have yet to lock up any version of Angry Birds. I play this a lot and if I'm not careful I will freeze it every time I speed up play and don't wait for the Bird to reload before using it (Known and listed in other threads) I have yet to manage this in a few hours casual play and I have been trying to on purpose now for an hour now. Not conclusive but thought I would post here and see if anyone else sees the improvement.

I'm Running:

Corvus5 with corvuskernel0.2

setcpu with 1.2GHz max set using a profile of batt < 101%

in usb slave mode

latest Angry Birds

Give it try Angry Bird lovers and let us know.

Snowdan.

My translator (newbe) says that you get improvements in angry bird with this kernel.. (I misundestood you... :S)

Great. If someone can test this and see if works for more people maybe we can see what has changed (only thing is overclocking, but who knows)

Its no work.

The previous kernel did not have this problem.

The changes from this kernel to the previous are not related with battery, so not a kernel problem. Every time we do a rom change or restore (from cwm or sometimes from titanium) or anything related to battery (maybe kernel) we must do this steps.

I know that we have here two issues:

1) Battery metter is slow refreshing, it last 30 secs to 1 min to refresh. This is a minor issue and possibly a hard work to fix it.

2) Battery mark 70% (by example) then reboot and batt shows 20% (by example). This is fixed (tested by me) using the battery fixing post. If you have this problem, do the step by step fixing and doesnt work, post here or better in Corvus5 thread your problem and will try to help you.

Firstly, love this rom. Fast and functional.

One thing I have noticed though nd I think this mightbe a bug is that after a while my CPU speed drops to around 216mhz and everything slowsdown i have to reboot to fix.. ive got set CPU installed but the minimum speed setting makes no difference. Any ideas?

Thanks corvus for as great Rom which on the whole is hard to fault

I have the new kernal installed btw.

It took a few hours to run (the battery life in these is too good  ) but after following the instructions my battery meter is functioning as it should.

Would wiping the battery stats as part of the update fix this from the outset?

Remove all the cpu overclocking apps, and install only setcpu with autodetection of freqs. This may fix the issue.

Dont really know... try it.

I'll give it a go thanks. A colleague of mine is experiencing it too, seems to only happen when woken from idle.

To me, I don`t get the ability to overclock the advent vega , it is only bragging rights !!!!.

I know people who spend thousands of pounds on their p.c just to overclock it to the max just for the benchmark figures.

The only time I`ve found the vega sluggish was when overclocking was added to the kernel and it was sticking on 216mhz.

At first I had the battery problem, but after a battery stat reset and a lot of reboots it started to work.

So you need to be a little a patient with the battery meter.

Top end it's silky smooth, but when it sticks on 216...aaargh lol. Still sticking with it though.

Great work - brilliant.

I got the following results ...

Quadrant Standard @1.0 - 1930

Quadrant Standard @1.5 - 3144 !!!

Smart Benchmark @1.0 - 1644

Smart Benchmark @1.5 - 4430 !!!

BTW - I use "No Frills CPU Control" from the Market - it's free and does everything you want it to do ... apply on boot, governors etc etc.

Thank you Corvus,

Does this mean it now plays mkv better ? , No , does it play any videos better now clocked , No , or do anything better.

So what is the point of over clocking .. yes - Benchmarking

if you have to ask ...... you completely miss the point.

some people have always strived to push the boundaries and because of that we have most of the technology you are using, why are you so anti overclocking?

O.K , so you say that over clocking is like walking on the moon , it pushes the technology ?.

You may have a point there, if like the moon landing it leads to new and better things, but over clocking to my point of view just adds problems compared to the advantages it may give.

You still haven`t said what advantages over clocking as, if it only to push the technology it`s like been the first person to invert a way to clear the rain forest using a super high powered laser from space.

Añd again you spectacularly miss the point  its not the overclocking that is important its the striving to push the boundaries. Putting a man on the moon is a great analogy because landing on the moon itself had no major benefits but putting a man there and bringing him back brought together great minds that collectively gave the world tremendous benefits, including non stick pans :o . So what I am saying is that striving to get there gives all sorts of benefits some obvious some not.

Thanks for all the work you put into this. Just a couple of questions, does this kernel have any vpn support? Does it work with the official 1.10 firmware for the vega? Thanks again

Didn't test VPN, but I have it running on my ROM which is based on 1.10 stock ROM (not Vega, but UX100)

Thanks, I would try this if it does have VPN, any chance you can try it? Just use this free vpn and see if you can connect if you don't mind?

Thanks in advance

Followed the setups instructions on BestFreeVPN and connected to it. Websites are loading (as they did before), but how to test if it really uses the VPN connection? There are no blocked websites here in Philippines

[EDIT

Ok, I used WhoAmI (http://www.hashemian.com/whoami) to check my IP address. My modem show IP 112.198.149.211, WhoAmI showes IP 222.127.223.71

So it seems to work.

I've flashed this kernel (not ASOP version) on top of CM7 nightly #79 and I have a problem with the screen rotation. it's reversed. Landscape in portrait and vis versa. Is this a known issue for CM7 roms or am I doing something wrong?

Flashed and Dalvik wipe from CWR as normal.

Help would be appreciated.

Hi

Downloaded and installed your kernal update on CM 7 Nightly 84. Benchmarked @ 1.2Ghz (Set in Cyanomod Performance)

Results:

Your Device (Vega 1.2Ghz) 3585
