Guest pakomen Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Thanks for the file..but unfortunately still no joy. The pc goes through the process all successfull. then at end say hit any key to continue... my vega just sits with "entering nvflash" message on screen and doesn't auto reboot like other images sent this way So 6 second button press to shut down..then restart and nothing just backlit grey screen..Looks like I will have to settle with corvus 0.5 or r8 in the meantime, cheers Pako Finally gave up and took unit back to shop..I asked if it was code 5 but she showed me.. on the till screen it said collect and repair..so i didn't argue. I will have to wait for a couple of weeks to see..I did get the random multi letter effect every now and again and yesterday, the unit bleeped and said plug in power although battery indicator was at 82%.. Anyway I am now Vegaless and hoping by the time I get it back Honeycomb will be working well and that my new or fixed machine will accept the flash. By the way I discovered if I replaced the boot.img in the non loading roms ie Corvus 5 and cm7 with the boot.img from r8 then the machine would flash ok with Corvus5 etc but some of the features like wifi were not working. Thanks for all the help Pako
Guest Moxo6 Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Has anyone actually found a solution to this problem yet? AFAIK, the hardware in every unit is identical, so there should be no reason for this to happen to some rather than others, and yet it does.

R8 installed fine but Corvus 5 and Vegacomb I have had no luck (must of tried 10/20 times). The only variable I can see between units is the SD card and perhaps how it is formatted (particularly the ext2 partition). However, I have tried multiple cards formatted differently and still no luck.

Basically, the advice on that thread is: Before installing a new ROM, 1. Wipe Data (in the 'settings app) 2. Delete the cache and the Dalvik cache 3. Toggle the 'script asserts' (just once) I would also suggest that you make sure your battery is fully charged and you have the power lead connected. Flash memory needs an additional power supply when you write to it, and a fully charged battery and power supply just makes that supply more secure. That's why the Advent instructions for updating the stock ROM tell you to connect it. Good Luck
