Guest obb Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) One thing that still bugs me about honeycomb is the fact that games dont run proper full screen, as the bottom system bar cant be removed. I understand why Google decided on this but personally I would still prefer hardware buttons myself. Guess its just a matter of getting used to it. Another thing that is annoying me is the battery indicator, which is basically broken at the moment. It hardly updates itself, if ever, I have had situations where I thought I had charged the device, and it was completely flat! The only other thing thats annoying me is the dithering on the graphics (wallpaper etc) its really distracting. The way I see it, once full HD acceleration is acheived, flash is sorted out, and the performance and battery bugs are squashed, this will be ready for day to day usage. Really like the new browser in Honeycomb too, much better, dont like the honeycomb keyboard though, smart keyboard pro is still the way to go with this. Also Honeycomb on the Vega doesn't seem to suffer from the double tap issue thats still a problem with the stock and R8 builds. The only other thing I would like to suggest is that the rom be made a full flash version again , and that the cache partition is increased to 50mb, because otherwise we cant download games such as Samuari II and Tegra Pinball. That's a pretty big showstopper for me at the moment. Edited May 20, 2011 by obb

Guest Batlin Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Do we need to do a full wipe of data and cache before installing it from beta 1.3?
Guest newbe5 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Do we need to do a full wipe of data and cache before installing it from beta 1.3? If you use the 1.3 to 1.4 patch you should be fine to update and only wipe the Dalvik cache. Leaving all your lovely data intact (always backup first though!). newbe5

Guest CoWPlagued Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Installed..... Most important thing first! the honeycomb on the boot screen still has 5 sides, because of this I won't be able to use this build for daily use and will be resorting back to Corvus5 :P First boot after the patch took a while, but mediately it has fixed the issue that I had where the launcher would crash on bootup. Wifi needed turning on and off with first boot as with 1.3, but shouldn't post any further issues. Memory management does seem a lot better. Thanks!! Most of the previouse bugs remain, but I wan't expecting them to be addressed at this point (flash, browser downloads, youtube HD, power/reboot option, hardware lock switch, etc) Fantastic progress!

OK OK! Sorry! Man, you're persistent :P I don't have a PEAP network here to test and we've been working on other things  But JUST for you! VegaComb 1.4 EAP Network Patch Flash that in CWM and let me know. This is 100% untested, and if it DOES work it will likely break ad-hoc support. Hopefully that will keep you going for now though! <_< newbe5
Guest frodo9999 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Hi newbe5. First of all thanks for your excellent work. I´m so happy being able to run honeycomb in my Vega. I have some problems with the new release beta1.4. I did a reset dalvik cache, data an cache before the installation of the new beta. I´m not sure if this only happens to me, but I can´t install aplications of the market (always fails, and not began to install), and the Gtalk aplication fails in authentication. Thanks for all¡¡¡ Edited May 20, 2011 by frodo9999

Guest Razil Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 This looks great but I can't get it to work with my trusty Speedtouch router - I tried the above patch hoping that there might be something lurking in it. However I did get it working ok tethered to my Android phone. Keep up the good work :P

Guest Diveokidoki Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 First what current rom do you have installed on your vega? if it is r8 or corvu5 rom you can go to ::http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-vega-vega-modaco-com/337518/mod-clockwork-recovery-3-0-2-4-easy-install-v2/:: follow the steps, after following the steps you have installed the recovery, create a directory on your sdcard from your vega named: Roms copy the downloaded rom .zip to this directory. Now open clockworkmod rom manager and click on boot in to recovery, once in recovery install zip from sdcard and navigate to your directory roms and click on you rom clear cache and factory settings and install :P Hi Notenboom, i have the R8 this morning a saw some one had a install guide but now I cant find it, remember i dont have a clue even how to get in to the DOS like screen
