Strange A2SD problem

Guest

Recommended Posts

My phone is running CM 6.1, don't remember what beta version.

Today i found it turned off, and I had no recollection of turning it off, and when I tried to press the power button it did not power up.

I then turned to the classic "pulling the battery, sim and SD-card"-method, which worked, however the boot-up time was awfully long.

When the phone had finally turned on and I unlocked it I was faced with a bunch of unreadable widget, saying something like "This widget could not be read" and none of my apps had it's icon (when I pressed the apps it said they weren't installed on the phone).

I then checked to see if the phone did recognize that the SD-card actually was in the phone, which strangely it did.

Then I figured that there had to be something messing with a2sd since the SD-card seems to be working otherwise, so I typed in "a2sd check" in the terminal emulator, and I was faced with a bunch of command lines that all ended with "permission denied".

I then tried typing in "a2sd reinstall" which caused the phone to reboot, as it's supposed to, however, things were still the same once booted.

I've tried what I can to solve this with no success, and I now turn to you Modaco, help me please!

If this post makes no sense it's because I wrote it in the middle of the night (because that's when I discovered the state of my phone).

(Yes, I've also tried to pull out the sd-card and putting it back in without success)

something similar happened to me, i think your sd card has become corrupted and therefore has wiped your partitions including your ext2 which i believe is where ur a2sd works, so whatver u had on the sd card and whatever you had on the sd card via a2sd will now be gone.

thanks my diagnosis anyway :\

try reading your sd card and see if you can recover any data from it via your pc then try to reformat it, if that doesnt work ull probably need a new sd card, cost me £15 about 3-4 months ago for my version of this corruption

How do I read the ext2 partition on the card, as far as I know that ain't possible... :/

Then again, I'm not that well educated on the topic.

Go on a2sd check, see if you can i identify the problem there.

i dont have a clue how to read your ext2 partition, what i meant when i said read whatever data you can from your sd card is connect your phone with sd card in it to your computer, and choose to mount it, then a window should open up showing what you have stored on your sd card.

good luck

permission denied thingy:

$su

#a2sd check

ext2 partition extraction:

do an nandroid backup, copy sd-ext.img to pc

and then use unyaffs.exe to extract it

...don't think it's gonna work if the ext partition is already corrupted

-------------------------------

do you still have your old sd-ext.img in clockworkmod folder?

if so, the quickest way to fix it is probably using clockwork recovery

recover the sd-ext partition with nandroid advanced restoration option

Oh, classy mistake, I knew that...

Here's with the super user permissions.

Would it work if I just started over, if I would create a new ext2 partition and install the rom once again?

Nevermind, I seem to have solved it by doing:

$su

#a2sd reinstall

A few apps seem to have been corrupted but it's ok, I'll reinstall them!

Btw, what apps are included in the gapps.zip, I think it might be those that are broken.

off the top of my head it would be thinks like market, google maps and all the other google s*** that comes with the phone, you can find the latest market apk somewhere on this forum and just flash that, saves you getting the annoying programs that just take up space and you never use

Your market gets updated anyway, when theres a new release.

Ok, what's the latest working one for CM6.1, have been looking around not finding the right one.
