I use dr web antivirus, doesnt interfere much and no noticeable effect on battery (probably because antivirus apps on android have nothing to do?). Better to also have a firewall system in place. I use droidwall, also from market. This helps u control what apps get wifi or internet access, so you can block apps that shouldnt need to send data (possible spyware), or simply to block ads in some ad sponsored apps.
