Guest Treadsoftly Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 What a legend - can't wait for the beta!
Guest madu Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Jaknife - you need to set your outgoing mail server as smtp.orange.net - i think.. Try searching for 'smtp orange' - you'l find it. it is a problem with your email configuration. mine works fine, just fine!!
Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Thanks Madukrainian works now. Very strange i am sure it worked before. Could have been when i hard reset the handset to de-certify it. But who cares it works now. I thought they would need some form of authenication for the smtp gateway, it probably gets that either from the mobile number, or the ip address in the handset, but it even puts the senders email address as my correct one. No need for me to set up an orange email account or anything. Superb, once again thank you kindly. My SPV toy, just got even more fun. :)
Guest madu Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Basically it is an antispam feature - only devices on the orange network can use that smtp server. same with your 'home'/'work' email servers. So if you connect to btinternet then u can use their smtp - so you won't be able to use ur say 'home' btinternet smtp to send an email from your office olueyonder connection... you get the point...
Guest the.dude Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 My SPV is not unlocked for 'unofficial apps' can I still use Smartexplorer in the way that you have suggested. Ie using it as an exe with a shortcut from the menu. :?
Guest Bazz Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 No, you can't use it at the mo without unlock. Application locking blocks .exe files (and .cab files and probably a million others).
Guest madu Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 it locks everything that can be *run* i assume. that would even include a screen saver if there was one.. Let's not drift off the topic though!! When are we expecting a beta ver? I can't wait!!
Guest jacoch Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I'm actually testing the new features. It includes : New file, New folder, Rename, Properties and Refresh. Hope having new version during the week-end. Thanks all for your feedback. Very useful to me.
Guest frijj2k Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Very nice.... Would be nice if directories were listed before files rather than all jumbled up though. ;-) Just a thought. Dave

Guest jacoch Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Hi all. New version alpha 2 is available. It stays alpha because some functions are still missing. Fixed bugs: - Shortucts should be created correctly now New features: - Function New File - Function New Folder - Function Rename. I use a dialog to enter the filename (for new and rename) rather than doing inplace edit, because it's not possible to display the special char dialog (long press on # key) and keep the item in edit mode. - It's possible to sort by name or by type - Two navigation commands have been added: PageUp and PageDown. Very useful for big folders. Shortcut keys are 7 (Up) and 9 (Down). - It's possible to refresh the current folder. I don't refresh the whole tree, because it's too slow. And the refresh function is mainly useful for Storage Card. Shortcut key is 6. The following functions are still under development: - File/folder properties - Send and receive by IR If you find mistakes in my translation, don't hesitate to report. Or if someone is intersted in making a better translation (I did my best with my poor english knowledge), please contact me by email. Download here
Guest madu Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Love it Love it Love it!!! Thank you :) Can't wait till IR beaming and Properties are working! V good app. V impressed
Guest jaknife2000 Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Alpha 2, superb. I liked the first one, now it just got better. Not a hell of a lot left to get on there now. The IR would be cool, but hell i wouldn't even use it, well not yet anyhow. Probably very useful for sending a file to another spv ?
Guest madu Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 or a picture to a PDA. and you could use it as a 'floppy' for docs and stuff to transfer to peoples laptops and pda's that support no SD/MMC ;) PS: Jacques, you can change 'Quit' to 'Exit' :) Not a big deal though.
Guest jacoch Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Small bug found To avoid messages about that, a smartphony user just found a small bug. The Paste shortcut has no command handler. Thus, if you try to paste shortcut using the menu, it does nothing. You can in the meantime use the shortcut key 4 that works fine.
Guest madu Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 My key '3' pastes the item if it was selected with a * key and then cut with 1 key and pasted with 3 key. It would also be a good idea to make 'LEFT' on the control pad go to the *parent folder* so you can quickly 'collapse' it. You know like in Windows
Guest kevlar Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Great app, thanks a lot. When you have added all you want to and squashed any bugs, you should charge a little for this. Also, you guys who keep giving us these great apps, should contact each other and discuss what you are working on, I know MBoden was working on an explorer program, no daubt he will have shelved that now. thanks again Kevlar
Guest ClintEastman Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Very good, great job!!! What we need is to get Orange to sponsor all the freeware apps available, just getting them to cert for free (Orange paying the bill) would be a start. IMHO By the way, it might be nice if you could use the left and right to open and close trees, like you can in Windows Explorer. IMHO
Guest SlartyBartfast Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Fine piece of programming Jacoch !! Can i suggest you add a feature to the next release that uninstalls Allexplorer !!!!!!! :) ;)
Guest jacoch Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 By the way, it might be nice if you could use the left and right to open and close trees, like you can in Windows Explorer. IMHO The action key is here for that purpose. The problem is that the left-right keys are used by the horizontal scrollbars. Thus, if I want to use them for anything else, I have to override the default behavior. But then, how to scroll horizontally? If the right key is used for both actions (open folder and scroll), it will be confusing. The other problem is that the application won't follow MS recommendations for the user interface. Will think about that... In Windows, we dont have this problem as the scrolling is done by the mouse, so the keyboard can be used to navigate in the tree.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Hmm so i'm busy for a week and i miss all this :/ Downloading now...
