Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 [florin]does what he does and it's his right.. :) Well, given that he's the first to crack the SPV's ROM I'd say he's sort of entitled - I can't say I'm a particular fan of his tone when posting (somewhat arrogant, maybe) but a big up to the man, he's done a good bit of work. If he can earn a few readies from his "discovery", well that's fair enough.

Whether we accept it/put up with it is another thing.. Though being generally nice is never too much to ask - just out of general values.. PS: I have kept my promise to 'not distribute' the tweaked version and someone did not [as we can see]. Florin (and I told him already) seems to take this 'personally' - what can we do. I appreciate what he has done and think it's a great achievment - Orange DK tweaked and works v well [have not tried original DK update]. But whether it sounds just sad, unprofessional or lame - we all contribute to the community and some just make too big of a deal of the whole thing - reason yet unknown - so no blame.

Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 Agree totally - unfortunately there are far too many people to whom politeness and "being nice" are alien concepts :) About the DK update: I've been using it since the day it was released and I'm very satisfied, the T9 being the exception here (it's a BIG exception, mind) If Florin_m has managed to improve upon the already massive speed increase that the DK update gave us....well, the man deserves a medal.

Seriously - I've installed the DK update on my SPV and it was an improvement. But it came with the major bugs SMS-blocking the keyunlock and stucking in headset mode - thats why I needed the FTW (Florin TWeak) and it fixed that problems. Great work that deserves all respect. I don't know about the legal issues behind it (better said I don't care...) - I've asked "someone in some company" for it without talking about sources and people behind it - it is a leagal issue... And some of us have to learn to respect that (coz of that someone we now have no beta2) Damn!!
Guest lutzh Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 you are right. but you also know how it is - even in families there are no real secrets... i was not invited to get the beta and i searched my way to get it. i got it. there is no secret hiding place in the internet, you know that. so even if it is a leagal issue - this borderline is already passed! sharing mp3 is illegal. sharing movies & programs is illegal - do you care? unlocking the spv is not a use in the way the manufacture wants its product to be used - do you care? so, when it comes down to legal/illegal it also comes down to the question whos to blame and what the outcome of it is. in this case there is no abuse - it just makes a buggy toy less buggy. so there is no real legal issue. on the other hand you mess with orange, htc and microsoft. anyway. lets wait for episode II! cheers, lutz

Guest lutzh Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 hi chris/tom- shure i did - but i am not the one who shared it without legitimation. i denied every question i've got on where can i get it/do you share. i got a couple, you can imagine this... the stress now is no result of my move to get it - its the result of someone giving it to others without permission. i just needid it to fix the sms bug (maybe the profile-stuck depends in other issues but it happend to me after the dk update and never before!). the legal thing was just to make clear that this is a problem - not for me or anyone else who uses the update. it could be a problem for florin - he was mad enough to leave traps that lead to him! and talking about stealing: i didn't steal anything - i just found it. i did not break any privacy rules with it or anything else. i just took my profit out of someone else who broke a promise... i could post the ip of the person - why should i??? cheers, lutz

Secound. beta 2 is out and ready for download. All users (spv developer rank) wich have access to my forum can download it .
