Guest developerbuzz Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Love the ROM but I've had to go to MIUI 1.9.9 becuase of the battery drain. I am lucky to get a day out of LN 1.8 yet I can easily get 2 days out of MIUI. Will consider coming back when the battery drain had been addressed.
Guest Liqushi Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Tonight i left the phone at 2 am with 77% of battery. No data connection or wifi active and i selected GSM. Today at 11.45 the battery was at 47%..... why has it lost 30% of battery without doing anything? Ill try to recalibrate the battery but i think it won't solve ... Sent from my Liquid using Tapatalk

Tonight, once again: - I left my phone at 2 am too with 100% battery (GSM connection only, everything else OFF and I did shutdown all background apps) - When I woke up (after 8h) I had only 55% battery left After I wake up I sent/received a couple of SMS / MMS and now I have around 30% of battery. I have never seen such kind of behaviour and battery loss, and everything started after 1.7.x and much much worse after 1.8. Today I will go back to another ROM until these things are fixed. Guest fpbasilio Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) to the people having battery issues, are u sure its not because your battery is old? I have been having battery issues with LN a few months ago so i tried other roms, and stock 4.002.14, but battery life was bad on all, tried recalibrating but dint do much.. had my battery since april 2010. Now Im on stock rom and i decided to replace my battery with a new one (mugen 1500mah) and battery life was much much better. i have yet to try my new battery on LN or other custom roms as i suspect constant rom changing before caused my battery to die quickly. just some thoughts.. :D Edited September 11, 2011 by fpbasilio

Guest mmick Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 to the people having battery issues, are u sure its not because your battery is old? Well, only unless my battery got old when I installed the 1.8... :) When I had Acer ROMs battery was great and strangely when I put CFWs it gets worse. Of course if you buy a brand new Mugen vs. the default one you get more power, but what I have is due a ROMs issue. As many people have different issues with the same ROM/hardware, this again is just one more: some have it, others don´t. The problem arrives when we make too much customization and then some lines of code may be screwed up. My favourite ROM is a slimmed rooted official ROM but until now Liquid only has from other sources. I give many thanks to that but if that ROM on my particular device has too many issues I have to use another until this one is fixed. I am not saying 1.8 is bad (is one of the best I ever saw) but on my specific combo I have serious battery issues so... I just hope they are fixed soon ;)
Guest Stangoesagain Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 I'm just downloading this Rom after I got the same battery problems on Leogingerbread that is no longer maintained. It has CM kernel, too, so it might be relevant. In my case the battery can last for ages one day and drain in five six hours the next. Usually I stop the drain with reboot, works like magic at home but can be a pain if caught on the road - a few defaults for home and input get lost and need to be restored manually. I wanted to post screenshot in Leo thread but it's of no use there anymore. This proves that battery can still hold charge exceptionally well A question before flashing LN - my maps and latitude do not update if I travel with the screen locked, no location change registered until I pull the phone out and start using it. I saw people recommending a factory reset and rebooting the phone without initiating google account first for this kind of problems. Would you recommend a wipe before I flash LN? How much of a wipe? I have SD card with 512mb ext2 partition with all my apps that I don't want to restore manually from Titanium Backup. That maps/latitude issue is silly, on my gf iphone it works fine, on my Androiod phone, without autoupdate, it's nearly useless. Also why LN home page reports "STATUS: suspended (due to android.git.kernel.org site temporarily offline)". Should I be worried?
Guest zorginho Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 (edited) Don't worry is only a delay, anyone has seen the new kernel? Really an amazing work! http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/7867421/1/bench?h=215279 Edited September 12, 2011 by zorginho

Guest EvilCleric Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 (edited) Thanks thepasto and Suxsem for your great efforts. Besides the following issues with the latest 1.8 ROM (reported by many users): abnormal screen and overall battery drain andIMHO not well-calibrated light sensor (too sensitive and too dark)there is one *major* bug I think I've found. The kernel seems not to work with MicroSDHC cards properly. The symptoms are: When sending files to the device connected to a PC in card reader mode, they often end up in LOST.DIR.Some files and directories (specifically some of my 50-60 megabyte .MP3s) are not recognized by the system properly and can not be accessed/read by any programs (although their file/directory names/structure are displayed properly). I tested this issue with 3 different cards and 2 Acer Liquids with the same result. The same cards behave perfectly fine with other ROMs and Linux PCs.Device doesn't boot (or locks up completely shortly after boot) with 32 GB MicroSDHC cards. No such issues with other ROMs.Please, investigate. AFAIK it must be the kernel issue. I'll be glad to assist you as a tester. Also I promise to make a good donation for your efforts when the ROM is a bit more stable (in terms of MicroSDHC cards and battery consumption). Thanks once again and good luck. Guest zorginho Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Where is this new kernel? Coming in next version of LN, or maybe will posted as update when it's ready Sent from my Liquid using Tapatalk
Guest Stangoesagain Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 How widespread is the battery drain issue? I can't read all 140 pages of this thread. On the first page I saw that LN should be flashed over any any Froyo - is a serious requirement? I currently have Leo rom, as I said before, it's gingerbread based - would be a problem?

Guest Dima KN Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 there is one *major* bug I think I've found. The kernel seems not to work with MicroSDHC cards properly. The symptoms are: Agree. I have 16GB SDHC, and one time before my device "hang" I saw some file write error in logcat(I was not able to save them, because of device hang). Some times when working with files I can't read them from PC. But I thought may be it is hardware problem?
Guest jensma Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Hi there! I want to flash my firmware and got a noobish question :( I have already installed malez recovery and my Liquid E is on 2.2 stock firmware. The pinned "ultimate thread" says "Custom ROMs are always in "update.zip" format. So just follow these brief steps:" I just can't find any file named update.zip oO Do I have to rename the file I downloaded? And do I have to do a wipe? Thanks in advance & thanks for this great custom firmware! PS: I'm quite cautious flashing new firmwares to mobile phones since I bricked my last mobile phone while doing it -_-
Guest ManniX.ita Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Device doesn't boot (or locks up completely shortly after boot) with 32 GB MicroSDHC cards. No such issues with other ROMs. I'm using a Lexar 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 without particular problems at all. I used before a Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC Class 6 and it was a bit faster. i started having issues from 1.7.x with both cards, less with 1.8.

With using update.zip it might fail the sign check in which case you will have to do as above. also i believe that the only way to brick it is to screw up the bootloader Edited September 12, 2011 by thirtytwodave
Guest formulator Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 (edited) What baseband version are people with/without battery issues using? What's the recommended baseband? I have a LiquidE with baseband A1-05.01.05. My battery drain is not too bad after doing a full charge and wiping battery stats from recovery however I find sometimes the battery drains really fast and I can't seem to find what process is eating CPU, battery stats show display eating a lot but my brightness is about 25%. I find I can get anywhere from 11 to 20 hours, average on a week day is about 16 hours. I am a heavy exchange active sync user and receive 100-300 emails a day.
