On a related topic - I have 850Mhz network in the neighborhood, I understand the phone can use it but only in 2G mode. Is it a physical restriction on the antenna or is it possible to install a different "baseband" version, if I understand the term correctly?

hmmm miui 1.11.4 seems really tempting... anyone else thinking to make the switch?

i've made the switch and that miui is really great, but the 3d is really bad.

ln has the fastest 3d perfs.

Think I found an issue:

if I set a specific rington for a contcact (using Zedge),when I recive the call from that conctact the phone plays the default ringtone.

Insteade Whatapps correctly plays the ringtone that I set for that conctact.

Can someone try to reproduce and confirm

Thanks

I actually prefer MIUI, but the problem us that id you use tasker, MIUI doesn't handle SMS messaging the same way Android usually does and none of the SMS related variables function. LN is the best ROM available that works with tasker and I like being able to fine myphone or make it do whatever I want it to via SMS.

Got the "airplane" bug - the phone is locked in airplane mode and refuses to come out, Mobile Networks in Settings is greyed out, changing 2G/3G in LNP settings doesn't have any effect either, rebooting or pulling the battery out doesn't work.

I tried wiping Dalvik and cache - no luck, but wiping Data/Factory reset in Recovery got rid of airplane On, except the phone is unusable in this state - too many FCs to count, and Titanium doesn't work, too. Registering on network is possible but there's an exclamation mark in notifications that registering has failed. At least the phone is unstuck.

Finally reflashed and airplane was gone.

The bug is tricky - it won't let me make phone calls or connect to the internet via mobile network but SMS came through, there's no aiplane icon in notifications either.

I wish there was an easier way to reset the radio.

similar problem here, also with 850mhz

sometimes i can't connect to any mobile network any more. then reflashing liquidnext or loading an old backup is the only solution.

i've already had almost the same problem with 1.8.x, where the flight mode turned on and off all the time. with 1.9.x, now 1.9.2 i can't find (visible) problems with the flight mode and at least usually it searches for networks (yesterday it didn't, as Stangoesagain said). but still with the same result.

i backup my apps with titanium backup pro, but DON'T restore system files.

i've already tried reinstalling ALL, without any backups and without all apps like mysettings and juicedefender. didn't help.

i don't know if it has to do with that, but at my university (where i often have no connection, but full connection in the next moment) this problem appears very often.

how can i run liquidnext without reinstalling it every week?

(sorry for my bad englisch)

I finally got 1.9.2 working... and well.

I have an Acer Liquid E (512MB).

Flashed 4.002.14.EMEA.GEN1_A22F_A - If you're not already using a 2.2 Rom - STOP NOW..

Installed Malez Recovery 0.6.1

Partitioned my CLASS 10 8GB SD Card for 64 MB Swap, 768 MB Ext2

Flashed 1.9.2

Wiped everything one by one

Converted Ext2 to Ext3

Upon first boot, changed Language to English (US)

DISABLE any "Use Google to Backup/Restore" blah blah blah

Installed LNP, reboot.

In LN settings, Used SDMAN to turn "on" Apps to SD - reboot

In LN settings, used SDMAN Script Tweaker to turn on Dalvik to SD (command sdman -e mvdc) - reboot

In LN settings, turned on "Use Undervolted Kernel" - reboot

In Cyanogenmod Settings, under Performance - CPU settings/ Govenor=OnDemand, Min CPU = 384Mhz, Max = 1075Mhz, Enable Set on Boot

In Cyanogenmod Settings, under Performance - Compcache - DISABLE.

Reboot again.

Use Titanium to restore any apps - no system settings/apps whatsoever.

My phone has been running for about 2 weeks, lag free, error free and fairly fast. Battery drain - noticeably better (but only with undervolted kernel)

Previous experiences for me were laggy as hell, but that was due to my moving DATA to SD. Don't go there!!! You will run out of internal storage FAST because the dalvik-cache is still on internal even if you move apps to the SD card. I eventually clued in that using SDMAN script Tweaker will let you move the Dalvik cache to SD (even if it's disabled in LNP), and that was the key for me...

I have pushed the overclock higher - but not without the occasional glitch. I set the min CPU a bit higher and seems to make the phone more responsive.

Quadrant score = 1153 at 1075mhz.. 1377 @ 1152Mhz.

Final note: If you are using a Class 2, 4, or 6 memory card and expect performance from the device by moving data/dalvik/apps there..... you're in for a nightmare.

I'm no android expert but i have a hunch that the internal memory drop is due to Dalvik Cache generated for the app. If an application resides in sd-ext it is interpreted as bring in phone and the cache is generated in phone memory. if you move the app to fat32 partition I think it won't take up the extra space. and if you move dalvik to SD then the phone will become terribly sluggish.

You were right about the dalvikcache. I did try the old fashioned 'move app to sd card' approach using Fat32 native method, but the dalvikcache remained on internal. I used SDMAN ScriptTweaker to force the dalvikcache to SD(ext) and it worked great. The option is grayed out in SDMAN settings but using the tweaker still seems to work.

What -did- make my phone sluggish was moving DATA to SD. It may be worth noting that I am using a Class 10 memory card , so others experience may vary depending on their hardware.

I Tomorow i buy my new 16 gb card, then i try it agin

Make sure you pay attention to the CLASS of the SD Card. Lots of 'high GB' cards out there for dirt cheap - but the Class is usually 2-4, making the card as slow as molasses. Buy a class 10.

I use 16gb class10 card and sometimes device freezes.

Tried some variants, but seems better is formatted into phone without sd-ext and swap.

You overclocked? I found that high overclocks can cause the occasional lockup. I'm using an 8Gb Class 10, 64MB swap and 768 Ext3 partition with great success.

Yes, but is bug not from overclocking.

Because device can freeze without overclock with this card, and no freezes on 998mhz with another 4gb card.

And i noticed, that device freezes during mediascanner working (after copying new music, images etc.)

I noticed that my phone will not play HD video (720p).

someone has encountered this problem?

Acer S100

have massive vedio playback issues with 1.9.2

random lock ups and random "can't play this vedio" from all vedio players (MX,VLC,Bs & Rock Player)

and now after a hang ,i had to remove the battery and every thing got back to ground zero (the 1st boot condtion) even the welcome msg appered and all my data and custoumaizations were gone (even the contacts )

every thing wiped clean

i deem this too unstable to be my day use rom

and also the battery drain is a nightmare

it needs a lot of tweaking

Probably you made some mistakes cause no other have your problems. Tell us your exact config (baseband, bin, swap/cache/ext4 condition...) and we search a solution.

I can confirm this. I had this "reset" problem.

I had a generic USB 5V 1A battery charger before. And when I plug it in my Liquid E it freezes. And the system reset after a reboot. The same charger freeze my HTC Aria as well (w/o resetting Aria).

You better check your battery charger. Some low quality charger would cause this LN reset.

I finally got 1.9.2 working... and well.

I have an Acer Liquid E (512MB).

In LN settings, used SDMAN Script Tweaker to turn on Dalvik to SD (command sdman -e mvdc) - reboot

I just tried this and it makes my phone hang on splashscreen. Any ideas how to fix this?

Wiped dalvik & cache, flashed the phone again... problem solved. I hope.

I installed the ROM but I cannot connect to wifi networks. It stops at obtaining IP address. Any solutions?

I am running 1.9.2 nearly since release. Everything is working quite well, but I am not using OC, undervolting, swap or ext Partition. Power consumption could be better but most days I do not run out of Battery. So I want to say thank you for this great ROM!

Additionally I have a Question: Is it Possible to analyse how much traffic each application is consuming as it was with Traffic Monitor on original Acer ROM's? On LN Traffic Monitor only shows sum of consumed Traffic...

Posted

I am using 1.9.2 rom and everything works fine except the power consumption (about 8-10% / hr, even in standby). Then I checked the battery usage and found most used to "Media Server".

Is it normal or I did something wrong?

Thanks for help.

I did the same thing but mine was due to cell standby... Few tasker battery saving profiles later I am up to normal 6-9 hour battery

I had poor battery life the first couple of days, with my CPU at 128/883Mhz and using SD man for apps on my 16 GB (lvl 2) card. I found no explanation about what the different governors do which would help making an informed decision based on your personal usage. I had tried undervolting the kernel, but had some strange things happening so turned it off again.

However, the day before yesterday i decided to take another stab at it and came up with the following results:

CPU at 883 max, 128 min

Governor: smartass V2

undervolted kernel

energy manager: automatically turn off 3G when using wifi, turn off wifi when using 3G. No GPS or bluetooth.

Result, when my phone is idle (at night, in my pocket, on my desk...) it consumes less than 1% per hour (this is with wifi on). When i'm actively using it, it goes down about as much as it did with the stock rom (using the acer UI). Yesterday, it had been on for about 27 hours and i had another 4% left in my battery before i recharged. I made a couple of calls (not too long, just a couple of minutes), spent quite some time on Word Feud (online scrabble), installed a couple of apps (with about 200 MB downloads in total), checked my facebook regularly, did some browsing etc... So far, my liquid remained stable. So i'm very happy with this result, since it's quite better than the stock rom, as well as faster.

PS: does anybody know how to go to the enery manager, without having to go through the widget? I used to find it easily on the stock rom, but now i have to go through the widget because i can't seem to find it in the settings. Or i'm going blind.

I don't have any battery issues with my configuration; in fact, I'd say it consumes less battery than stock. I've got my A1 running on 128-1036 Mhz (yup, mine's one of the lucky few that is stable @ 1Ghz) with the lagfree governor and undervolted kernel (yup, it's still stable). I've also got a 256MB swap partition on my Class 2 SD card, swappiness is set to a happy 25. I've also Bulletproof'd my launcher (ADW), set the AutoKiller settings to aggressive (82, 90, 98), have all advanced tweaks enabled in AutoKiller Memory Manager, frequently use CacheCleaner NG, and I use an app called Auto WiFi toggler to automatically turn off WiFi when it isn't in use, but periodically enable it to check to see if there's a hotspot nearby. Auto brightness is enabled, and even though people advise against it, I also use SetCPU not to set the clock speed, but because of profiles: through experimentation, I've found that having a profile to set the clock speed to the allowed minimum when the screen is turned off prolongs battery life despite claims that the status checking of SetCPU consumes more power than is saved by creating and using a low-power profile while the screen is off.

3G, GPS, and Mobile Data are always kept on, Bluetooth is rarely turned on.

I get ~40% drainage after 10 hours of moderate use (a couple phone calls, a couple SMS's, syncing every 15 minutes, about an hour and a half in total of gaming).

Oh, and I've also uninstalled the Facebook app, as in my experience, it slows down devices like crazy; no wonder so many people complain about Android's sluggishness if some of the most popular apps are so unoptimized.

You should watch out with Taskbar profiles, however, as, unlike SetCPU, I know from personal experience that Taskbar can consume more power than it saves, mainly because it runs actively in the background (well, so does SetCPU in a way, but at least it isn't killed if I set the AutoKiller settings extremely high) and status checks more frequently than SetCPU.

You should also watch out for apps that consume a lot of processing power (like Facebook); when tinkering with other people's phones (with the permission, of course), I've found that even on devices with 512MB of RAM, it pays to set the AutoKiller settings extremely high (in one case, I set them to 300/325/350) just because it automatically kills apps that launch automatically and start consuming processing power without any need (Android Market and Google Maps are just two examples). And yes, it did actually speed up their devices noticeably (though they did have a much lowlier CPU, like a 600Mhz one OC'ed to 710, or a 528Mhz one OC'ed to ~600).
