External USB (2.0) drive not picked up when plugged into keyboard dock

I've got an Iomega portable USB (2.0) drive that I can't seem to access through the keyboard dock. The power light comes on the drive I can't see it anywhere if I browse through the system (using the file manager app) and there isn't any icon in the taskbar area. It's a 160GB NTFS formatted portable drive (ie. no separate power source)

Do I have to change any settings anywhere or am I looking in the wrong place?

Perhaps it can only pick up fat drives
