Mine arrived tuesday, overall a good case. Only issue so far is that the camera cutout and power adapter cutout aren't lined up perfectly, the power adapter hole is off by alot although I can squeeze it in, this might just be on my case. Not a major biggy as I can make both hole larger. When vega is sitting in the stand position, position is a good angle. For the money I am happy with the purchase and delivery to Malta was 2 days.

Long time lurker to this forum, joined today. I got this case too and like you the holes for the camera and power are way out and I will also need to make them bigger but I am happy with the case as the overall quality seems pretty good.

Anyone got both cases (the official & the eBay case)? If so could you say how the quality of both cases differ, is one case thinner than the other? Which one seem like it will last longer?

I've just bought the eBay one and do not own the official one so I can't comment with great authority but I have fondled it enough to offer a comparison.

The eBay one is exactly as described. It has a bit more of a plasticky kind of feel rather than the leatherette of the official one. It fits very snugly and securely and I don't see any problems with the Vega falling out. I reckon you'd have to work at having an accident with it. It doesn't feel quite as nice as the official one but, with all of my two days experience with it, is of high enough quality and build standard to last the course. It is also a simpler, better design IMHO. I particularly like the magnetic catch although time will tell if the magnet needs revitalising in the future. The only issues I had were that the hole for the power supply plug was slightly misaligned and one of the retaining straps overlapped the volume down button keeping it pressed, both of which issues were resolved with some gentle paring with a scalpel (a craft knife or box cutter should do just as well).

The only thing I don't like is the folding stand which angles the Vega at about 70 degrees, too steep for my liking. I'd prefer something a little more reclined and may think about a mod to achieve that when I get a contemplative moment!

In conclusion, I think that the eBay one is better suited for purpose and cheaper making it the winner in my book.

Thank you, think I'm going to order one soon. The back of the Vega got scratched a few days after purchase I was going to take it back. But now I'll have to stick with it. So looks like buying the case is on the agenda

Agreed the angle when sitting at a desk is perfect however if on a bed its better to rest the stand under the velcro strrip, that seems to work well for me and gives it a mucho better laid back position.

Doh, thanks for that! What a simple solution :)

And there was me getting all complicated with mods 'n' stuff.

PS. Been using this case for a few days now and thoroughly recommend it.

I will buy this case once I get my new Vega. Yes, my one slipped out of the official folio case two days ago and landed quite hard, edge on onto a carpeted floor .Result, badly cracked touchscreen. Luckily I bought it from PC World and added the Whatever Happens option for £65. Just waiting for a decision on repair or replacement although TBH I doubt that repair is an option as does the store manager. He told me to hang on to the Vega and take it and the folio case to Currys (where I bought the case) and show them what happened and the resulting damage and to ask for a refund on the case. He said if I had bought the case at PC World he would have done so straight away. Anyway I have to take it back in two weeks for likely replacement. :)

Just read on another thread that a heavily revised folio case has been put on sale replacing the one I have. I wonder if that would give me grounds for a refund. The case I have wasn't on sale for very long was it. To me that shows they were aware of a design fault.

just to keep this thread going, I bought this case using the link in the original post, it came 2 days later after purchase and came with the screen protector (Havent tried yet) and the stylus (which does not want to work with any capacitive screen I can chuck at it)

Anyway here is my review of the case

The case definitely feels like it was made with high quality materials, the flap and the back of where the vega slots in is a hard back and if dropped then the flap wont open because of the magnetic bit so it will most likely protect any bit of it if dropped, the Velcro strap up the top also works and prevents the vega from falling out and I can use the flap as a prop so its easier to type on and can also prop it up and use as a stand

The disadvantages are that the 1st time I attempted to fit the vega in the case I really had trouble doing it without first applying pressure (I guess this really does show it wont easily fall out) so first I had to stretch the hinges a bit to make it fit easily, after that I found that the webcam wasnt totally aligned (but aligned enough to still use it), the earphone port was aligned but the power port definitely wasnt (cant plug in the charger) and there is no hole for the led on the top right or bottom center, I also cant use the dock port because it is now too wide to fit but it doesnt totally bother me because the official one didnt either

So overall I find the case does do its job which is to add a bit of protection but dont expect it to be perfect and you will have to take it out of the case if you want to charge it or put it in its dock
