I'd like to know how we can enable hsUpa and more importantly (for me), 850 MHz 3G band, as it has been dealt with so much in this forum.

Considering the specs for the San Fran are that it doesn't support 850, I'm not sure how much help ZTE themselves would be able to provide with that one?

read the official specs here:

http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/en/products/mobile...215_196076.html

or let me quote: :)

Yeah, but do we know the V880 has the same radio hardware as the San Fran? Or is that the question? There are versions of this phone with different cameras and screens so they're not adverse to having different hardware in the same model. I have no idea. I only bring it up because the San Fran specs don't list 850 and the 880 specs do.

We do have the ZTE Libra with Gingerbread officially available on that right ? Its specs are very much similar to blade and people on this forum have reported to use CM7 on the libra. If Libra can have official GB so can blade and hence ZTE can release the kernel now right ?

they have no other models in their website. it's the same model with different name.

plus, where are the official specs from Orange that say this phone doesn't have 3G 850 ?

anyway, don't block my question. let the PR guy move it forward..

"The specific "functions" you require, IMO, is minority and I do not think a manufacturer would make that to satisfy a minority."

Just IMPROVISE!

There are thousands of common stands you can use and then connect the cable!

If that accessory is important to you, you should buy that phone instead.

I do not agree. Many would look for a charging/USB desk dock, if it's not important for you, then do not think everyone's like you.

All I would like to see from ZTE are the kernel sources, and maybe the framework sources they did to make AOSP run on the devie. The latter would be VERY helpful!

I too would love a desk dock :)

might be worth checking out this thread, it's the closest thing I've seen to a decent desk dock, one person is using it already and another has ordered one, I'm going to order one today I think

Another question for you Sean, is the skate able to record 720p video? The 5mp sensor is above spec for HD video, though with an 800Mhz ARMv6 I'm unsure if that's possible. Also, is capturing audio above 16khz supported? Is there a second mic for noise cancellation / stereo recording?

In the UK it will be exclusive to Orange. Other European carriers will offer the phone too, with details to come. I know it's being offered in France soon.

Hi ZTE_SeanJacko,

is there any news on the Rugged Blade?

it's mentioned in ZTE's press release for 14th February 2011:

http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/en/press_center/news/201102/t20110215_219745.html

a demonstration rugged blade handset is on this Youtube video from MWC 2011

at 1 minute 58 seconds

and a picture of it is on this April 2011 Article from ZTE http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/magazine/mobileworld/2011/1/articles/201104/t20110412_227651.html

Will this particular handset be coming to Europe?

Hey Roph - apologies, I seem to have totally missed this question. I will add it to the list of Qs for ZTE if you are still interested..

Hi Roph - Yes, the SKATE has a second Mic for noise cancellation, also it can support DLNA and Dolby sound effects. But, as you indicate, the Qualcomm processor has some limitations in multimedia support, so the SKATE doesn't support 720p record and replay. But I don't this feature is that important. What do you think?

As long as the kernel sources are there - right? ;)

Hi Hecatae

The rugged device shown at MWC was a prototype to initiate discussions with operators, and has not moved to production. ZTE will let us know if there is further news on if/when a ZTE rugged handset might hit the market.
