Guest yaabaa69
Hi all, Wasn't sure where to start this thread after searching around. I have a new 7" Google Android 2.3 Tablet PC aPad ePad MID WIFI: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...T#ht_9420wt_944 I am trying to use a Huawai E1762 3G dongle from Virgin Australia. The aPad manufacturers say that this dongle is compatible, and that my aPad version is compatible. - I have setup a Virgin APN in Android 2.3 Gingerbread as per: http://ausdroid.net/apns/ Name: Virgin Broadband APN: VirginBroadband MCC: 505 MNC: 02 - I have tried Authentication as PAP, CHAP, PAP & CHAP, and none. - Under 'Access point names' I have a green dot in the radio button to the right of the Virgin APN, enabling it. - I have also tried Optus APN as I have read somewhere that it may work for Virgin 3G. - I have 'Data enabled' in Android 2.3 Gingerbread. - I have 'Data roaming' enabled. - I have tried again after doing a factory reset. - I have tested the same 3G dongle on laptop and PC it works normally. - I have disabled the dongle autorun using terminal as previously explained. - I have tried various combinations and variations of VirginBroadband APN config with the same result. When I power up the aPad with the dongle plugged in, I get the signal strength icon at the top. If I click 'Enable 3G', I get the 'Turning on' message which, after a couple of minutes changes back to '3G Disabled'. When this happens, the signal strength icon disappears. If I try 'Enable 3G' after that, I get "It is invalid. Please check if ICC card is ready". My wife has exactly the same model & version aPad as mine below and hers gets exactly the same results. Any assistance would be appreciated !!
Guest yaabaa69
I finally got the Huawai E1762 3G dongle from Virgin to work on the aPad – with an Optus prepaid SIM card from my cheap prepaid mobile. I quickly and painlessly unlocked the dongle using http://www.dc-unlocker.com/ I used the Optus SIM with APN details as below with every other field blank: APN name: Optus Internet APN: internet MCC: 505 MNC: 02 Go figure. I had tried every combination of stuff I could with the Virgin SIM card – I guess it has a cast iron chastity belt on firmly...
