Quick info for anyone who wants the new market (this would be a nice feature to add Trip :))

Do a google search for "Get the NEW Android Market Now [Download]" (you are looking for version 3.0.26) the first result will probably suffice ;)

Download the the file and rename to Vending.apk and copy to a temporary location on your sdcard

Use Root Explorer or other app for the next steps:

- navigate to /system/app and rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak (long press on file > rename)

- navigate to the temporary location on your sdcard to obtain file, in my case this was /mnt/sdcard/temp/

- long press on the new Vending.apk > copy

- navigate back to /system/app and hit the paste button

- long click on Vending.apk > Permissions

- Set the Permissions as below (the same as all other apks in this dir) and then hit OK

- Select Vending.apk now to execute the installer, click on install.

- The install may/may not fail > reboot your phone.

- VOILA, new market should be on your home screen...if you've got a lot of apps, go and search :D

One major problem of this Rom is the proximity sensors fails i.e the screen gets on when talking but it should be off all the time when talking. When dialing tone comes the screen gets off but after establishing a call the screen gets on again. Why anybody not asking for improving the proximity sensors sensitivity. I may use this Rom for daily use after this problem has been solved. I have tried GB 0.8 and others too but they dint seem to have this problem.

The only thing in your guide that you did not mention is that the new-market-apk is not called vending.apk anymore. (Got it from http://www.droid-lif...-version-3-0-26). So I renamed it to vending.apk before installing it.

But be aware! There is much more data trafic. Depending on your data plan, it might be not advisible to update.

  I was traveling for almost 5 weeks, and using A LOT the 1.7 version.. many things to say:
  
  
  • Really EASY instalation..... (BB 67).. Full WIPE..... FLASH ZIP file..... AND everything started worked at once...........
  • IS EXCELENT........
  • Everithing is WORKING
  • SIgnal (in my country there are many places with poor signal) OK...
  • 3G... OK
  • SMS.. OK
  • Call Conference .... OK
  • BAttery duration ... AWESOME
  • I was playing with custom kernels, but the fastest and more stable was the normal (TRIPS MIUI 1.7), so i keeped it
  • This kernel gave me 1600 Quadrant

  As now Im reading (the full 18 pages) theres gonna be a 1.8, and later a 2.0 version, I want to make a long list of sugestions (christmas list).

  It would be nice ... almost Fantastic to have in the new ROMS:

There are apps that you can wipe battery stats with or you can delete battstats.bin and it does the same buddy

also the camera drivers in GB are different to Froyo so more than likely

Mr Trip,

Please help me, i cant download anything from market. Just happen recently after i reflashed to stock rom to try for your Iris GB. Then i reflashed to stock again to use this rom after consider this is better than others (made by yours). Out of sudden i cant download anything from market. It did says the items will be download shortly, and yet there is none. Not even an error message / FC. Is there anyway i can reSET my market or get a new market installer?

glad to see the market install works for everyone. I really like the new design of this. As other forums have said it's a little like WP7 with the side swipes etc. but it's nice and clean!

1. Install the FreeKernel, it's completely safe and acts like a stock kernel.
2. That is already working.
3. Not having this problem, but maybe there is an app for this.
4. You can use an app for this too I guess.
5. This might be a good idea.
6. I totally agree with this one though.
7. Again, install the Freekernel, it is UC to 128MHz and OC to 1113MHz.
8. I haven't got any problems with the 'old' one, but this should be added.
9. Agreed. And add more volume to the media aswell.
10. Just turn of all sounds and vibration on.
11. Yes this is true, but is mostly fixed after a reboot.
12. Camera has always been a hard one in roms since it is a bit different from the other android cameras. (8.1MP instead of 5)
13. It isn't that much trouble to go through xrec.
14. I don't like the number 13.

(Credits to tykmgr for creating FreeKernel and hrdy96 for MIUI version.)

1. Flash in xrec 0.3.
2. Wipe Cache.
3. Wipe Dalvik.
4. Reboot.

It is the latest version 3.60 btw, and I have totally no problems with it.

Kernel features:

• Support BB 53/65/67
• 100% stock behaviour
• includes tun module
• OC to 1113MHz
• UC/UV
• underclocked to 128MHz cpu clock (default 245-998MHz)
• use SLUB (changed form SLAB)
• gcc 4.4.3 compiled (Thanks ThJap)
• cpu frequency that can change more (lots of intermediate frequencies)
• added CFS (Completely Fair Scheduler)
• added the famous Linux kernel "200 Line Wonder Patch"
• changed bootlogo
• FIXED Camera DC on video recording
• Call volume fix
• removed 32 fps cap
• implemented netfilter (Droid wall, native USB/wifi tethering etc.)
• CIFS
• Swap on (automatic making root directory)
• remove swap area (but swap is available)

@Trip/Chris can we PLEASE look into the audio lag out issues...it drives me batty >_< heh. If this was fixed I would be extremely happy! I am in some cases getting a drop a couple of times in a song.

Same here, audio lag when listening music via MIUI musics.. At first it happen frequent, but then it became constant hickups.. :blink:
