Hi there

I am new into the Android stuff and would like to upgrade my new Blade to the best (most stable & also newest OS version). But I am a bit confused because there are so many ways to do it. Many posts were created a couple of months ago and I am sure that in the mean time a lot of things have changed. So what is the actual recommendation?

1) So far, I found the following 4 topics which are interesting. Of course all say you will be successful but what are your experiences, which one would you recommend for a newbie?

Gen1 to Gen2 TPT upgrade, No Windows needed, faster, easier, safer, doesn't lose TPT mode

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...n2-tpt-upgrade/

[ROM] CyanogenMod-7 for ZTE Blade/San Francisco :: V7.0.0-RC1 (02/16/2011), OFFICIAL CyanogenMod 7

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...rc1-02-16-2011/

CM7 universal converter, Converts most CM7 versions to Gen1 or Gen2

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...rsal-converter/

CyanogenMod 7 (Android 2.3.4) is now GEN 2 ONLY!, Straight out the other side of Stable-ness.

2) And of course the most difficult question, which release is at the moment the best deal between stability and actuality?

Thanks a lot in advance

I recommend the first link, Gen1 to Gen2 TPT upgrade, No Windows needed, faster, easier, safer, doesn't lose TPT mode

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...n2-tpt-upgrade/

so simple to install, just follow the easy instructions; put the file in your sd card (making sure it isnt corrupt of course), and then just holding Power & Volume + and you're good to go !

2) GingerStirFry hands down, so fast and so stable you will not be dissappointed! LINK

Shahin your link is broken BTW .

But I agree, Ginger Stir Fry is very good.

Wbaw actually created a TPT to install Ginger Stir Fry as part of the process: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&amp...t&p=1748363

There's also the option to go for CM7 7.1 which is a lot better than 7.0.

CM 7.1 has poor battery usage IMHO and drains like hell :) (Thanks pelemane  )

True, I've found it okay with the patch ThrashMan mentioned, Stir Fry still does better when it comes to battery life. That said, I miss the CM goodies.

The patched version by sej - is what I am testing right now.

1 hour on battery and all I've got is wifi on, 3 text messages - lost 5%.

However will love to test it further and see how long it takes to drain it completely. My usage is same as what it was on GSF10.

+1

CM7 Nightly 125+ by sej7278, is excellent. And as k0zmic has said, you get the goodies. Such tasty goodies too. Over clockable Kernel, built in screen lock delay, etc. etc.

The Blade with a great ROM makes a mockery of über high priced handsets. Forum member "theswisstourist" may seem like he is on medication with some of the question he post's, but in one of his latest questions asking if consumers are getting ripped off, he is bang on accurate. Handsets costing more than 15" HP laptops?

ZTE Blade = £100 and no handcuff contract. Superb.

Anil.
