Basebands, RILs and custom ROMs...

Hi all,

I've recently updated my baseband to the 0622 version as described here:

http://android.modaco.com/content/lg-optim...35-21-20110622/

Now, I'm giving Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC1 a try on my phone and seem to be having receprion issues.

After doing some research, I'm thinking it must be related to having the wrong RIL installed.

My questions are:

1. Am I right in thinking that RILs are generally installed along with a custom ROM?

2. How can I find out which RIL I currently have installed?

3. How can I copy/flash the correct RIL to my current setup?

Thanks in advance. :blink:

<ninja edit>

Some further questions...

4. Are RILs/basebands affected by running different kernels?

5. Would there be an advisable baseband/RIL/kernel combo for a UK user on GiffGaff?

Thanks in advance. :huh:

If you're using CM7 then you have 218 RIL, when you install a custom ROM, you get lumped with whatever RIL is has by default, the only way to figure out what that is is to check it's MD5. To get the correct RIL you can either look for a flashable .zip file or just adb push the file (lge-ril.so) over.

I am on Giffgaff and currently use 622 BB & RIL.

There are a lot of RILs in .zip format here: http://www.mediafire.com/?3vgbltlua2nuv
