Guest Steep Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 there are so many other ways to improve Wi-Fi reception, that makes resorting to aluminium foil, the ravings of a kilobit nut case. Well as I said, I've seen it work and if it suited those who made it work that's their business, I don't think it's very gracious of you to insult them because they found a solution to their problem that you would not have used.
Guest Brianrh Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 form a curve with the foil and attach it to you antenna you can use it to direct the wifi waves There was the story once that you could increase the range of wifi reception between two wifi dongles by putting each one in a wok and aligning them accurately towards one and other. I don't know that carrying a wok round on your belt is any easier than carrying a roll of foil but you would look more of a pratt (sorry if I'm not supposed to use that term), but perhaps that's not a problem for some.

My apologies if you felt my comment was ungracious or insulting. But my point is valid. There are so many other ways to improve a Wi-Fi signal. And by the way, there are other antennas on a Blade, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they simply covering up other antennas? Snake oil is snake oil, sorry. Anil. PS. I thought of this after the fact and had to ask, but do you think the engineers at ZTE, who most likely hold multiple PHD's amongst them, have decades of design experience only to be trumped by some guys on YouTube with some tin foil? I've no idea how many antennae are in a Blade or how would be placed. As I said above I've seen foil used successfully in an Android Tablet (which was wifi only) to improve wifi signal. As for blocking the 3g signal, if my phone works well inside a metal room I can't see a bit of tin foil doing much harm. I'm sure ZTE engineers are well qualified just as I'm sure ZTE use the cheapest source for parts the same as all other manufacturers, if some phones need a helping hand as a consequence then do what it takes and never mind the nay sayers.
