What about Phone Transfer?

I've been using it to backup and restore my data on Android for years.

It's quite handy and useful.

It depends on what kind of data you need to backup. For fully backup, CM 12 is the best option for that. For separate file backup, Android Assistant is the right one. P.S. You can even recover deleted photos from Xperia Z3 without backup. This is quite promising and impressive.

Before backup , you need to copy data from android to computer , in this way , you are able to backup data safety ,probably you do not know how to copy data between android  and computer, let's show you a way to copy SMS from android to computer , 

1:Connect your phone to computer after install a copy tools on the computer

2:Preview and choose these SMS you want to backup 

3:Start to copy these SMS to computer,
