Guest dibbles Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 (edited) Got a few questions for anyone who uses this as their daily: 1. Is it rock stable? 2. Is it smoother than the stock ZTE 2.3.5 ROM? 3. Is the camera as good as (or better) than stock? 4. How is battery life? 5. Does it have the YouTube freeze error? Any vids would be nice too :P I navigated to this ROM as I had used the nightly builds for a long time with my blade. It is very good and certainly works well but for me the biggest let down was when using the camera. I also had some issues with the BT but as I then changed to the ROM I'm using now I never explored that problem to see if there was a solution. The ROM I'm using now... The Elitemovil ROM is simply a very very good ROM that, up to now, has just worked in every way that I would want it to. It is responsive, good for battery usage and the camera seems as good as it is going to be. The only thing that I changed was the battery / charging icon on the status bar. I did follow the instructions on formatting and creating a EXT3 partition on my card and it is great to see with stacks of apps and games I still have over 130mb internal memory free on the phone. There is a video here that I have found useful, you never know when you might need it... All good fun :) Edited December 12, 2011 by dibbles
Guest Atomix86 Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 There is a video here that I have found useful, you never know when you might need it... All good fun :) Thanks mate just what I was looking for  . 1. I would say it is rock stable, but if you dig deep,I am sure there are one or two glitches, but nothing to make it any less stable. 2. I would say so yes, sometimes,it seems to me that cm7 is smoother than stock 2.3.5 3. No,camera is the one let down, but that has always been a problem with cm7(not just ours, but the official rom too) 4. Battery life is good for me,but its down to each persons usage,so nobody can answer that but the one asking the question. 5. Cant say I have ever had youtube freeze, not on any rom or device. Can you explain more by how exactly youtube freezes ? Thanks, that answers my questions very well. The YouTube freeze is what I seem to get on stock 2.3.5 where after 20-30 mins of youtube it crashes the app, then for the rest of the time the phone is on, you can no longer watch HQ vids, and gaming performance drops. Very odd gpu error I think.
Guest Atomix86 Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 (edited) Took the plunge and installed the ROM. OC'd to 960mhz and what a difference it has made (of course if it drains battery too much I'll tweak it down). If it has no YouTube crash error then I will probably keep this as my main (despite the camera. I'll live haha). Edited December 12, 2011 by Atomix86
Guest xrysaetos Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Hello. Just got my ZTE - SKATE, and I put CM 7 V3 on. I' ve flash google apps v6 and then v7, but no maps, or maps navigation. From android market I cannot download maps what is wrong here? In stock rom I had maps and navigate (2.3.5). Sorry for my English. Is there something I can do about it? Thank you
Guest Christian Edwards Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 That's sounds odd, Google Maps & navigation are part of Gapps, you only need to flash one version of Gapps just make sure it's the latest version from the cyanogen website. Have to put your google account dets in and opened market, maps usually updates as soon as you do the first time.
Guest Atomix86 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Just to confirm, I flashed the latest official CM7 gapps and maps wasnt there either, howver on mine it _can_ be downloaded from market.
Guest xrysaetos Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Thank you both for your answers unfortunetelly the maps simpy are not there, and I cannot download them, for my country. (Greece). (It seems that we Greeks are so poor in our days, that they don't give us not even free products LOL). I believe that this is an explanation For CyanogenMod 7 and other Gingerbread ROMs, a Google Apps package was found which is DPI and architecture-independent, so all devices now use the same Universal package. In addition, any app which can be installed from the Android Market such as Gmail, Maps, and Voice Search were removed from the package to eliminate the need for a Tiny package. Instead, the Pacman application was added, which asks the user to select which Google Apps should be downloaded and installed from the Market. Anyway, I am going to find a way to work around this problem. Thaks again.
Guest Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) @ xrysaetos, Why not just Google search for the apk? Have you tried to redownload gapps, maybe corrupt download? It must be corrupt as gapps does not remove certain apps based on where you live. Edited December 13, 2011 by Guest
Guest almera8 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Try market enabler, just download it from the market and it can fake you have a UK sim

If you want driving navigation, forget google maps and find a proper turn by turn navigation...Navigon, iGo, Sygic, CoPilot, etc...
Guest xrysaetos Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Thank you all. Everything is ok. (@ dadashi, i have a driving navigation, that it came with my skate, as a gift from my cell provider, but since I rooted my phone and installed CM Nightlies, it stopped working LOL., Anyway, I found google maps and the navigation company is working on the problem right now, so everything is ok).
Guest Disconv Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 I tried to install the Battery-mod-blue-cm-style.zip on CM7 and it would start up again.. I would just like to have a small bar with the percentage next to it(I had this on the Atomic 1.6 ROM) Is it possible that this doesnt work on CM7? Which other battery mods will work? Greetz

Greetz The mod you used is supposed to imitate the CM7 option to do that. Therefore, you just need to enable the option (forget about flashing anything). Go to Settings. Then open CyanogenMod Settings. There, click on Interface and, after that, on Status bar tweaks. You'll find an option there called Battery status style. Select Percentage and that would be it! If you don't see the small bar, restart the mobile phone :) Edited December 14, 2011 by victormun

Or only the Theme Chooser? But I like the tweaks in CM7 more :) Or just wait for CM9? :) Greetz

You install the apk and then just apply them with Theme Chooser. Don't forget that Skate is HDPI. Regards.

Guest victormun Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Thank you so much! :) You're welcome! The Theme Chooser is one of the reasons why I always tend to stay with the CM-based (or directly CM) roms.
