Guest kazoooo Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 ... there's a calibration app but it's not 100% perfect, I could never get it to work properly (it either did nothing at all or made the screen stay on permanently during calls), which is a shame as that was the only thing that stopped me using it as my main driver. A lot of people have had success however. Works for me but I need to calibrate after every reboot. Very easy to forget to do it, plus mine's a spare phone that'd be used by everyone else. Is there any way I could add this to some startup script?
Guest BandofBrothers Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 (edited) I have installed the latest cyanogen, but for some reason, I can't connect to my mobile provider (Giffgaff) - which is basically "02" - but it fails to connect hmm Edit: I am assuming that cyanogenmod also unlocks the phone to be used with any network operators (I feel stupid asking this....but just making sure!) Guest ears1991 Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 Thanks a lot, this is great, is flash player usable if you sideload the apk? Thanks for the reply Atomix. WIll the unlock guide (posted on these forums) still work okay even though I have put Cyanogen on the phone now? Thanks so much for the help I would have thought so, i am using an o2 sim in my OMC now with no problems, running this rom, i followed this guide http://android.modaco.com/topic/348403-want-to-unlock-your-omc-skate-tutorial-here/ but id wait for confirmation before going ahead! good luck!

Guest BandofBrothers Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 It will but I believe you need to re flash stock recovery first. So, I just did the unlock, and now the phone sees my Giffgaff simcard and has full signal. However... it has reverted the phone back to the original branded rom (Orange) - which contains all the crap I want to get rid of. Also - when I power on the phone to launch Clockwork Mod it launches FTM instead (Part of the unlocking procedure).... So... if I try and install Clockworkmod and the latest rom again - will it undo my unlocking of the phone? Thanks for any help

Guest BandofBrothers Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 You can just reinstall cwm and flash your rom of choice again and the unlock will stay. Thanks so much for the help mate! All sorted and working now!!! You're a star!

Guest pellonet Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 As a long term OSF CM7 user who has just got the OMC I would like to add a vote of thanks for your efforts although having only got the new phone yesterday I have not got round to flashing it yet. One Question; does your ROM have or will have native VOIP/Internet calling? Thanks again
Guest myndfuk Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Hi guys, I need a little help here please. I have now SIM unlocked and rooted my phone using the Paul's Superoot (http://android.modaco.com/topic/344819-09-aug-superboot-root-access-for-the-zte-skate/) . I now want to "ïnstall" this ROM but I dont know what next to do. I have installed Clockwork Rom Manager v4.8.0.7 from the market but the ZTE Skate/OMC is not listed under Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. This is as far as I have gotten. Is there a specific detailed tutorial for the Skate (I couldnt see one on the site)? Any help?

Rom manager does not support the ZTE skate you will have to flash it manually. Edited December 29, 2011 by Wacky.ddw
Guest myndfuk Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Its the first one on the main page, its also in my signature. Thanks but I am still not sure...why? In the tut you say: So in conclusion: If you want to stay on your stock ROM, and have root access you need to install superboot. The tutorial is in part 4, but i do recommend installing clockworkmod first. Or if you want to change to a other ROM which allready has super user, you don’t need to root. You could install a ROM trough clockworkmod. (which I recommend) I have rooted the phone and the above appears to not include me since I dont want to stay on the stock rom but CM7 for Skate. So since I rooted first I can't install this ROM or any others now, right? Edited December 29, 2011 by myndfuk
Guest pellonet Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Just installed this on my new OMC & very pleased with the performance, only one question, where is the best & latest GAPPS for this? [Edit] sorry, should have read right through to page 39 where my answer was lurking  Edited December 29, 2011 by pellonet
Guest silverblack Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Just installed it and set up a pattern lock but it still displays the original unlock swipe across then the pattern lock. Shouldnt it remove the original swipe and just leave the pattern lock ? Im not sure if its a rom quirk or a skate quirk tbh

Could you please ask questions in that topic. :) Edited December 29, 2011 by Wacky.ddw

Guest _Carl_ Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Well I'm enjoying this little zip of awesomeness on my OMC as we speak but as usual I still have a couple of niggles :P I have to calibrate the proximity sensor on every reboot - I'm pretty sure this is a known bug right? how am I supposed to do it properly? just lay the phone on a flat surface and then hit the button in ZTE Settings? After a number of hours use my phone will no longer connect to WIFI, I just get a short and sweet message of "Error" I think I read in this thread that it might be caused by low memory? but according to android the last couple of times this has happened I've had over 200mb free  any ideas? a reboot usually fixes the problem but then causes exasperation as I forget to recalibrate the darn thing  Cheers  Edited December 29, 2011 by _Carl_
