Guest Stuart_f Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 And 3 weeks on we still don't have any reply to any of our questions. Come on ZTE, how about a little customer service or you'll never get any repeat custom!

Come on ZTE, how about a little customer service or you'll never get any repeat custom! ah don't forget it needs to be translated several times and then it takes at least a month for someone to run "tar -cjf kernel.tar.bz2 kernel" :D maybe google need to be informed that one of their android licensees is breaking copyright laws.....
Guest shmizan Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 maybe someone should go ahead and do it already, instead of suggesting it over and over again   :)
Guest PeteBest Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Wow is this ever dragging on... Any news SeanJacko?
Guest samjam Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Wow is this ever dragging on... Any news SeanJacko? And silence falls. The source code must've got him, poor chap. Anyone seen the doctor?
Guest unrandomsam Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 ah don't forget it needs to be translated several times and then it takes at least a month for someone to run "tar -cjf kernel.tar.bz2 kernel" :D maybe google need to be informed that one of their android licensees is breaking copyright laws..... A large portion of them are : (And google doesn't care). (At least Huawei / ZTE and most of the cheap tablet manufacturers). When there is binaries (of GPL or LGPL software) released there should be accompaning source code to build the exact binaries. The only ones who are ok (Or even at least trying to comply) that I know of are : Motorola. Samsung. HTC. Acer. Sony Ericsson. (Should be a few hundred meg of source for each major firmware revision - The carriers likely won't change the GPL bits). Or if you don't want to do that then license proprietary replacements for the GPL bits you don't want to use. (There is a full proprietary broadcom bluetooth stack and bluesoleil will sell one as well). It would take one person half an hour probably to set the process up to generate big source tarballs. (upload them at the same time as any system update image.bin's or windows flashers). To the same server as well (instead of putting everything on a server in China that 404's all the time). Irregular incomplete kernel only source releases is totally inacceptable. (Next phone I get will be from someone who at least attempts to provide what they require. (Not that I think it will make any difference at all but at least I won't feel bad about giving money to a company who has a business model that rely's entirely on ripping off large portions of the work of others(Bluez is probably worse affected the fact that it is GPL (Not LGPL) implies the intent of the authors pretty well)).
Guest Magnets Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 I think we all know what to expect from future ZTE devices. No source.
Guest hecatae Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 I think we all know what to expect from future ZTE devices. No source. not true, zte tureis froyo and gingerbread sources were uploaded really quickly
Guest unrandomsam Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 not true, zte tureis froyo and gingerbread sources were uploaded really quickly Are they complete ? (Didn't think so) Even if they are using some proprietary broadcom code as part of the bluetooth we are certainly entitled to the bluez changes to get it working properly.
